Epidemiology of Oral Cancer in Iran: a Systematic Review

Background: Oral cancer stands among the 10 top causes of cancer death in the world. Considering the role of epidemiologic information on planning and effective interventions, the present study aimed to investigate the epidemiology of oral cancer in Iran. Materials and Methods: The required information for this systematic review study was obtained from PubMed, Google Scholar, CINAHL,SID, Medlib, Magiran and Iranmedex databases, using key words "cancer", "oral cancer", "squamous cell carcinoma", "oral cavity carcinoma" and their Persian equivalents in combination with keywords of epidemiology, prevalence, etiology, frequency, and Iran from 1990 to 2014. From 1,065 related studies found, finally 25 were included to the study. Results: The mean age of 8,248 patients in 25 studies was $54.0{\pm}15.1years$. The male/female ratio for oral cancer was 1.91. Tongue with average percentage of 29.9 was the most involved site. Regarding microscopic grade, 65.7% of cases were grade 1. SCCs, accounting for an average of 70.0%, was the most common among all types of oral cancer. In the majority of studies, smoking including cigarette, hookah, and tobacco consumption was found to be a risk factor. Conclusions: The epidemiological pattern of oral cancer in Iran is somewhat similar to that of other countries. Yet the information on hand in this field is limited and considering the role of epidemiological data we suggest conducting more accurate studies to catch data that is required for effective programs and interventions.
A Novel Taxonomy and Comparison Method for Ranking Cloud Computing Software Products

Cloud computing as a new and modern technology has become a focus of attention and a platform for future services. Cloud computing services have been categorized into three main groups of services, which are infrastructure, platform, and software. Each service has its own unique characteristic while all services have also some common characteristics and challenges. Such characteristics create a complicated combination of features to serve selection of cloud solutions. This paper presents a new feature based taxonomy which facilitates the process of cloud software product selection. More precisely, Hierarchical Cloud Taxonomy Engine is the proposed method to help developers and consumers choose their appropriate product according to their needs and based on real capabilities of different cloud computing products. Moreover, this paper proposes a new evaluation mechanism which sorts the cloud products according to the customer’s needs and requirements. Besides, this paper presents a classification model for cloud features and subsequently presents a comparison between some business and research cloud products as a case study. Results of comparisons show that our proposed techniques facilitate the process of cloud product selection.

One decade early onset of the breast cancer in Iranian females was reported but the basis of the observed difference has remained unclear and difference in gene silencing by epigenetic processes is suggested. Hence, this study was sought to map the methylation status of estrogen receptor (ER) gene CpG islands and its impact on clinicopathological factors of triple negative and non-triple negative ductal cell carcinoma of the breast in Iranian females. Surgically resected formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded breast tissues from sixty Iranian women with confirmed invasive ductal carcinoma were assessed by methylation-specific PCR using primer sets encompassing some of the 29 CpGs across the ER gene CpG island. The estrogen and progesterone receptors, Her-$2^+$ overexpression, and nuclear accumulation of P53 were examined using immunohistochemistry (IHC). Methylated ER3, ER4, and ER5 were found in 41.7, 11.3, and 43.3% of the samples, respectively. Significantly higher methylation of ER4 was found in the tumors with nuclear accumulation of P53, and significantly higher methylation of ER5 was found in patients with lymph node involvement and tumor with bigger size or higher grades. Furthermore, significantly higher rate of ER5 methylation was found in patients with Her-$2^+$ tumors and in postmenopausal patients with $ER^-$, $PgR^-$, or $ER^-/PgR^-$ tumors. However, no significant difference in ERs methylation status was found between triple negative and non-triple negative tumors in pre- and postmenopausal patients. Findings revealed that aberrant hypermethylation of the ER-alpha gene frequently occurs in Iranian women with invasive ductal cell carcinoma of the breast. However, methylation of different CpG islands produced a diverse impact on the prognosis of breast cancer, and ER5 was found to be the most frequently methylated region in the Iranian women, and could serve as a marker of poor prognosis.
Degradation of azo dye C.I. Acid Red 18 using an eco-friendly and continuous electrochemical process

Continuous anodic oxidation of azo dye C.I. Acid Red 18 by using PbO2 electrode in aqueous solution was studied. To reach the best conditions of the process, the influence of various operating parameters such as pH, current density, hydraulic retention time (HRT) and dye concentration on the removal rate of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and color, as indexes showing the amount of efficiency, was investigated. The findings showed that, respectively, 99.9% and 80.0% of the dye and COD were removed (at optimized conditions). Mineralization current efficiency results indicated that at the beginning of the reaction mineralization occurred quickly at a low current density, whereas at high amounts the rate of mineralization the efficiency decreased. At the optimum conditions, the majority of COD was removed only with 38.2 kWh/kg COD of energy consumption in 120 min. By controlling HO•/dye concentration ratio via the parameters adjustment, particularly HRT and current density, this system can treat Acid Red 18 well even at high concentrations. Furthermore, the voltammetry study illustrated that electroactive intermediates created during the process were mineralized at current density of 8.6mA/cm2.
