Experimental investigation on aerodynamic behavior of a Long span cable-stayed bridge under construction

        Cun-ming Ma,Qing-song Duan,Haili Liao 대한토목학회 2018 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.22 No.7

Su-tong Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge with a main span of 1088 m whose stiffness is small and it is sensitive to wind action. Thelength of the bridge girder at maximum single cantilever stage can reach up to 540 m, much attention should be paid in theaerodynamic performances of the under construction bridge. Based on wind tunnel tests, the aerodynamic characteristics of thegirder, free standing pylon are considered. Also, field measurements of the pressure distribution on girder surface are presented. Theexperimental results show that only torsional vibration is found in the smooth flow at wind attack angle of 3°. Considering theinfluence of turbulence, the vortex-induced vibration of the girder is disappeared. The pressure coefficient values on the uppersurface obtained from the wind tunnel tests are relatively larger than that obtained from field measurement. The drag coefficientsvalues obtained from the wind tunnel tests are about 20% larger than that from field measurement. The crane can reduce theamplitude values of the free standing pylon at an incident angle of 0°, corresponding to along bridge axis. The turbulent flow can alsoreduce the amplitude values of vortex-induced vibration.

Modification of Fe/Cu Multilayers under 2-MeV Xe20+ Irradiation

        Kong-Fang Wei,Zhi-Guang Wang,Jie Gou,Yan-Bin Sheng,Gen-Ming Jin,Hang Zang,Cun-Feng Yao,Yi-Zhun Ma,Tie-Long Shen 한국물리학회 2009 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.55 No.6

Multilayers with a structure of Si/[Fe(10 nm)/Cu(10 nm)]5 were deposited on Si(100) substrates and then irradiated at room temperature by using 2-MeV Xe20+. The modifications of the multilayers were characterized using a depth profile analysis of the Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) data and the evolution of crystallite structures of the multilayers were analyzed by using X-ray diffraction (XRD). The AES depth profiles indicated that de-mixing of the Fe and the Cu layers was observed at low ion fluences, but inter-mixing of the Fe and the Cu layers was found at high ion fluences and destroyed the layered structure of the multilayers. The obtained XRD patterns showed that, after irradiation by 2-MeV Xe20+ at 2 × 1016 ions/cm2, the peaks of the multilayers related to a Cu-based fcc solid solution and an Fe-based bcc solid solution phase became visible, which implied that the inter-mixing at the Fe/Cu interface resulted in the formation of new phases. A possible mechanism of modification in the Fe/Cu multilayers induced by ion irradiation is briefly discussed. Experimental Investigations on VIV of Bridge Deck Sections: A Case Study

        Zeng-shun Chen,Si-meng Liu,Xianfeng Yu,Cun-ming Ma,Lei Liu 대한토목학회 2017 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.21 No.7

In this paper, the Vortex Induced Vibrations (VIVs) of bridge deck sections of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge were investigated experimentally. Aeroelastic tests for the bridge deck of two scale ratios (1:20 model and 1:50 model) under different wind attack angles, wind speeds, and damping ratios were performed. Accessory and windbreak effects on the VIVs of the bridge deck were also carried out. The experimental results show that the accessory and windbreak tend to enlarge the VIVs of the bridge deck. Furthermore, the most unfavorable wind attack angle is 5o. At this attack angle and low damping ratios, the VIVs of the bridge deck are significant and much larger than the allowable value. In addition, the VIVs of the bridge deck decrease with increasing the damping ratios (Particularly, at large damping ratios, the VIVs were well suppressed). This study provides a guideline for the designs of long span flexible bridges on suppressing the VIVs of the bridges.

Localization of QTLs for Husk Proportion and Lignin Content Using a High-Density Genetic Linkage Map of Brassica napus

        Fu You Fu,Lie Zhao Liu,You Rong Chai,Li Chen,Tao Yang,Ai Fen Ma,Cun Ming Qu,Lin Jiang,Zheng Sheng Zhang,Jia Na Li 한국유전학회 2007 Genes & Genomics Vol.29 No.3

Husk proportion (HP) and lignin content (LC) are two important traits of seed quality of B. napus. Efficient selection of these two traits is an important way to improve the seed quality in meal improvement. A set of recombinant inbred lines (RILs) of B. napus (GH06 × Zhongyou 821) was used for mapping QTLs of HP and LC in a two-year study in different environments. 509 markers (78 SSR markers, 66 RAPD markers and 365 SRAP markers) were mapped on 26 linkage groups with an average length of 73.96 cM. The map covered a total of 1923 cM, and the average distance between two adjacent markers was 3.78 cM. Analysis of variance of LC and HP indicated that. LC might not be significantly affected by environment (F = 2.96 < 3.02) and HP might be affected by genotype × environment interactions. A total of 15 significant QTLs were detected in eight linkage groups with a LOD threshold value of 2.5 (LR ≥ 11.5) by CIM, explaining 4.99-16.14% of phenotype variation. Some QTLs of LC and HP were detected in near regions of the same linkage groups, such as qLCBB05-6-1 and qLCWZ06-6-1, qLCBB05-10-2 and qLCBB06-10-1 and qLCWZ06-10-2, qHPBB05-9-3 and qHPBB06-9-1, qHPBB05-10-4 and qHPBB06-10-2 and qHPBB06-10-3 and qHPWZ06-10-1. This study indicates that the repeatedly detected QTLs of LC and HP might be major-effect QTLs of LC and HP.
