Five main problem areas which Korean students encounter when studying abroad have been isolated. Each field, Language, Differences in Academic Standards, Finances, Personal Ability, and Cultural Differences, are briefly discussed. Difficulties arose when initially attempting to obtain data but were overcome by using interviews and a questionnaire. These procedures allowed the un-covering of the specific concepts of concern, A few solutions are recommended which would assist in alleviating the overall issue.
Alcohol Expectancy Words Recalled at a Higher Rate by Heavy Drinkers

It is believed that an individual`s alcohol expectancies, the anticipated effects of alcohol retained in memory, will differ in accordance with drinking experience. The focus of recent alcohol expectancy research has been on activation of alcohol expectancy memory networks for heavy drinkers, demonstrated through changes in behaviour following the presentation of implicit alcohol cues. Recent alcohol expectancy research has suggested that priming a memory test word list with an alcohol beverage word (Beer) acts as an environmental cue for heavy drinkers, resulting in greater recall of embedded alcohol expectancy words. Using a memory test designed to further explore the effectiveness of alcohol word cues, the current research tested 247 American exchange students recall of embedded word themes. The results suggest that the sequential presentation of alcohol expectancy words in itself, regardless of the first word (prime) of the tests, provides an adequate implicit cue initiating an expectancy word recall bias for heavy drinkers.

마리화나(Marijuana) 흡연이 심전도에 영향을 미친다는 보고가 있으나 그 정확한 기전은 알려져 있지 않다. 우리는 최근 많은 마리화나흡연자 마취중 4예에서 국부마취시행시 심전도에 이상소견을 경험하였다. 마리화나가 심장에 독작용이 있음이 입증되지 않았으나 마리화나흡연자 마취시에는 항상 주의하여야 하며 부정맥 발생에 대한 적절한 처치를 시행하여야 한다.

Objective: Heat stress (HS) triggers oxidative stress and respiratory alkalosis in pigs. The objective of this experiment was to study whether a short-term supranutritional amount of dietary vitamin E (VE) can mitigate oxidative stress and respiratory alkalosis in heat-stressed pigs. Methods: A total of 24 pigs were given either a control diet (17 IU/kg VE) or a high VE (200 IU/kg VE; HiVE) diet for 14 d, then exposed to thermoneutral (TN; 20°C, 45% humidity) or HS (35°C, 35% to 45% humidity, 8 h daily) conditions for 7 d. Respiration rate and rectal temperature were measured three times daily during the thermal exposure. Blood gas variables and oxidative stress markers were studied in blood samples collected on d 7. Results: Although HiVE diet did not affect the elevated rectal temperature or respiration rate observed during HS, it alleviated (all p<0.05 for diet×temperature) the loss of blood CO2 partial pressure and bicarbonate, as well as the increase in blood pH in the heat-stressed pigs. The HS reduced (p = 0.003) plasma biological antioxidant potential (BAP) and tended to increase (p = 0.067) advanced oxidized protein products (AOPP) in the heat-stressed pigs, suggesting HS triggers oxidative stress. The HiVE diet did not affect plasma BAP or AOPP. Only under TN conditions the HiVE diet reduced the plasma reactive oxygen metabolites (p<0.05 for diet× temperature). Conclusion: A short-term supplementation with 200 IU/kg VE partially alleviated respiratory alkalosis but did not reduce oxidative stress in heat-stressed pigs.
Analytical Model and Numerical Simulation of High Level Injection in Si/SiGe HBTs

The high-level injection (FLI) behavior of Si/SiGe hetero-junction bipolar transistors (HBTs) is governed by the formation of a retarding potential barrier to the collector current flow at the base-collector junction. A quantitative, analytical model is developed to predict the barrier height dependence on the applied bias. Complete device I-V characteristics can subsequently he calculated based on this knowledge. Two-dimensional (2D) numerical simulation has also been carried out on such structure, revealing the 2D effects of the device operation. Several measures to alleviate the adverse effects of HLI on device performance are proposed.
