Hepatoma-derived growth factor (HDGF) is a novel jack-of-all-trades in cancer. Here we quantify the prognostic impact of this biomarker and assess how consistent is its expression in solid tumors. A comprehensive search strategy was used to search relevant literature updated on October 3, 2014 in PubMed, EMBASE and WEB of Science. Correlations between HDGF expression and clinicopathological features or cancer prognosis was analyzed. All pooled HRs or ORs were derived from random-effects models. Twenty-six studies, primarily in Eastern Asia, covering 2,803 patients were included in the analysis, all of them published during the past decade. We found that HDGF overexpression was significantly associated with overall survival (OS) ($HR_{OS}=2.35$, 95%CI=2.04-2.71, p<0.001) and disease free survival (DFS) ($HR_{DFS}=2.25$, 95%CI =1.81-2.79, p<0.001) in solid tumors, especially in non-small cell lung cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma (CCA). Moreover, multivariate survival analysis showed that HDGF overexpression was an independent predictor of poor prognosis ($HR_{OS}=2.41$, 95%CI: 2.02-2.81, p<0.001; $HR_{DFS}=2.39$, 95%CI: 1.77-3.24, p<0.001). In addition, HDGF overexpression was significantly associated with tumor category (T3-4 versus T1-2, OR=2.12, 95%CI: 1.17-3.83, p=0.013) and lymph node status (N+ versus N-, OR=2.37, 95%CI: 1.31-4.29, p=0.03) in CCA. This study provides a comprehensive examination of the literature available on the association of HDGF overexpression with OS, DFS and some clinicopathological features in solid tumors. Meta-analysis results provide evidence that HDGF may be a new indicator of poor cancer prognosis. Considering the limitations of the eligible studies, other large-scale prospective trials must be conducted to clarify the prognostic value of HDGF in predicting cancer survival.

Purpose: The use of oncoplastic reconstruction for breastconserving surgery (BCS) extends benefits beyond merely minimizing poor cosmetic results. However, the feasibility and oncological safety of oncoplastic surgery (OPS) are controversial. Methods: This meta-analysis aimed to compare the short-term and long-term oncological outcomes of BCS alone and BCS plus OPS. Relevant studies published before July 2017 in the Embase, the Cochrane Library, PubMed, and Web of Science databases were screened and collected. The meta-analysis was performed using STATA software (Stata Corp.). Results: A total of 3,789 patients from 11 studies were included, with 2,691 patients in the BCS-alone group and 1,098 patients in the BCS plus OPS group. The demographics were similar between both groups, and no significant difference was observed in pathological T and N stages between the two groups. Re-excision was less common (relative risk [RR], 0.66; p=0.009) and the positive-margin rate was lower, but not significantly (RR, 0.83; p=0.191), in the BCS plus OPS group than in the BCS-alone group. The local and distal recurrence rates were similar in both groups. Both disease-free survival (hazard ratio [HR], 1.19; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.96– 1.49; p=0.112) and overall survival (HR, 1.14; 95% CI, 0.76– 1.69; p=0.527) did not differ between the two groups. Conclusion: A combination of BCS and OPS is preferred over BCS alone for decreasing re-excisions and provides similar long-term survival as BCS alone in patients with breast cancer.

Virtual prototypes have been appealing in the early design stage of computer aided tolerancing, because it is less expensive to evaluate and modify tolerances numerically. Derived from the machining processes, form uncertainties are simulated, controlled and analyzed in virtual prototypes using parametric and intuitive surface patches. The generation of a complete virtual prototype often involves combining surface patches with different patterns to one complete model. To overcome possible geometric defects in this process, a surface merging method is proposed in this paper. Skin Model Shapes is first introduced as the geometric foundation. The whole part surface is segmented based on the geometric shape and machining type. Then point-based patches are generated accordingly. Interpolation implicit surfaces based on radial basis function networks are constructed in patch boundaries based on spatial-constrained homogeneous transformation matrices. A feature augmentation process is then introduced to preserve processing features after resampling the blend patch. The proposed method is proved to be efficient in feature retaining as well as surface smoothing, through numerical experiments and analysis on an example mechanical part. The results show that the generated virtual prototype would become 62.5% more smooth while retaining a 91.6% feature similarity after using the proposed method. Moreover, the proposed method could preserve 174% more features at a cost of 9.0% smoothness than using a conventional modified trimmed filtering method.

Resistance spot welded joints in different configurations of DP600 and DC54D were investigated to elucidate thenugget formation process and mechanical properties of the resultant joints. Results show that, when the weldingtime was less than 4 cycles, the fusion zone (FZ) was not formed, but the heat-affected zone (HAZ) occurred with a“butterfly” shape. In 4 cycles, the FZ in dissimilar sheets occurred with an “abnormal butterfly” shape because of nuggetshift. When the welding time increased to 14 cycles, the FZ exhibited a “bread loaf” shape and the weld shifted to“dog bones.” The nugget can be divided into three regions, namely, FZ, HAZ1, and HAZ2, and the FZ consisted oflath martensite. The micro hardness of DP600 FZ was lower than that of HAZ because of the dilution of DC54D. The failure mode of B changed from interfacial failure to plug failure during the nugget formation process. The tensile-shear load of sound weld is 6.375, 6.016, and 19.131 kN.

Two machining position-attitude model including Parent mirror Coordinate Position-Attitude Model (PCPAM) and Child mirror Coordinate Position-Attitude Model (CCPAM) are proposed for the fabrication of off-axis aspheric based on the manufacturing characteristics of off-axis aspheric and Magnetorheological Finishing (MRF) technology. The machining ability, machining difficulty and machining accuracy of the two models are researched theoretically, and the simulated results of an off-axis mirror demonstrate that CCPAM is better than PCPAM over all those three aspects. An off-axis aspheric which has the same parameters as simulated was figured by MRF and the final accuracy is 14 nm RMS after two runs costing about 9 hours. The experiment testified the validity of CCPAM in the MRF process of off-axis aspheric, and indicates that more benefit can be obtained when CCPAM is adopted to manufacture an off-axis aspheric in MRF.

The capping layer and the probe tip that serve as the protective layer and the recording tool, respectively, for phase-change probe memory play an important role on the writing performance of phase-change probe memory, thus receiving considerable attention. On the other hand, their influence on the readout performance of phasechange probe memory has rarely been reported before. A three-dimensional parametric study based on the Laplace equation was therefore conducted to investigate the effect of the capping layer and the probe tip on the resulting reading contrast for the two cases of reading a crystalline bit from an amorphous matrix and reading an amorphous bit from a crystalline matrix. The results indicated that a capping layer with a thickness of 2 nm and an electrical conductivity of 50 Ω−1m−1 is able to provide an appropriate reading contrast for both the cases, while satisfying the previous writing requirement, particularly with the assistance of a platinum silicide probe tip.

In this paper, a class association rule mining approach based on Genetic Network Programming(GNP) for detecting network intrusion combining misuse detection and anomaly detection is proposed. The proposed approach is an extension of the intrusion detection approach using GNP, so it can detectand distinguish normal, known in trusion and unknown intrusion. The simulation result shows that the detection rate is improved compared with traditional intrusion detection approach, and normal, known intrusion and unknown intrusion are distinguished with high accuracy.

To increase the assembly construction efficiency of low-rise and multi-story buildings in rural areas, the precast shear wall for RC composite column confined uniform hollow panels was designed in this paper. The seismic performance and failure mechanism of the structure are studied by combining low cyclic load test with finite element and theoretical analysis. The study found that the connection between the components is safe. The structure has three progressive failure processes that are the interaction stage, composite column constrained dense column work stage and weak framework stage. The structure has good bearing and capacity of energy dissipation, and the ductility coefficient of the specimen is 2.89. In addition, the finite element model is established based on ABAQUS, and the damage evolution process of the structure is visually represented by the damage nephogram. In combination with test and simulation, calculation methods of shear capacity of the shear wall are established. The ratio of test value to calculated value in the interaction stage and weak framework stage is 1.14 and 1.06 respectively. The calculation method is reliable and has clear physical significance. The study can provide a reference for the application in low-rise and multi-story buildings.

Angiogenesis plays a significant role in colorectal cancer (CRC) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) appears to be involved with multiple aspects of CRC angiogenesis. Our aim was to investigate the inhibitory effects of Tan II-A (Tanshinone II-A, Tan II-A) on tumor growth in mice, as well as alteration of expression of COX-2 and VEGF in CRC. We established the mice xenograft model of C26 CRC cell line, and injected 0.5, 1, 2mg/kg of Tan II-A and 1mg/kg of 5-FU in respectively in vivo. Then, we assayed tumor weight and volume, and evaluated microvascular density and expression of VEGF. COX-2 promoter and COX-2 plasmids were transfected into HCT-116 cells, followed by detection of COX-2 promoter activity by chemiluminescence, and detection of COX-2 mRNA expression by fluorescence quantitative PCR. Taken together, the results showed Tan II-A could inhibit tumor growth and suppress the VEGF level in vivo. HCT-116 cell experiments showed marked inhibitory effects of Tan II-A on COX-2 and VEGF in a dose-dependent manner. The results indicate that Tan II-A can effectively inhibit tumor growth and angiogenesis of human colorectal cancer via inhibiting the expression level of COX-2 and VEGF.
