        단일 통과 라만레이저의 집속 조건에 따른 출력 특성

        단일 통과 라만레이저에서 접속 조건에 따른 1차 Stokes 파의 출력특성을 조사하였다. 펌프빔으로는 Q-switched Nd-YAG 레이저의 기본파인 파장 1.06㎛의 빔을 사용하였고 매질로는 고압 메탄을 사용하였다. 실험 결과 펌프빔을 라만셀로 접속하는 조건에 따라 큰 출력의 차이를 보였는데, 집속상수가 클수록 Stokes 출력이 증가하였다. 이러한 결과는 Stokes와 anti-Stokes의 결합에 의한 이득감소로 이해할 수 있는데, 여기서는 간단한 이론을 통해 집속 조건에 따른 Stokes와 anti-Stokes의 결합의 정도를 알아보고 이득감소 현상을 피하기 위한 집속상수의 기준을 제시하였다. 라만 산란에 수반되는 유도 Brillouin 산란을 측정한 결과 문턱에너지가 집속상수에 비례하여 증가하였고, 이론적으로 이는 다중 모드 레이저를 펌프로 사용할 때 상호작용 거리가 간섭성 거리로 제한되어 나타나는 현상으로 이해할 수 있으며 간섭성 거리를 2㎜라 했을 때 실험 결과와 비교적 잘 일치하였다. Focusing geometry dependence of output Stokes energy in single pass methane Raman shifter is investigated. The experimental result shows that the threshold energy decreases as confocal parameter increases. This result can be explained by gain suppression caused by Stokes - anti-Stokes coupling. In this paper, we give simple analysis for the focusing geometry dependence of Stokes - anti-Stokes coupling and present the criterion of confocal parameter to reduce the gain suppression. Focusing geometry dependence of stimulated Brillouin scattering is measured and the result is in good agreement with theoretical prediction.

        사람 구강암세포 KB에서 bavachin에 의한 세포성장 억제

        Psoralea corylifolia is widely distributed over southeastern Asian countries and has been used in traditional Chinese medicine. Bavachin, one of the main constituents of P. corylifolia, possesses various biological activities such as inhibition of platelet aggregation, anti-oxidation, and anti-bacterial activity. However, the anti-cancer activity of bavachin has not yet been well defined. In this study, the cytotoxic activity of bavachin and its mechanism of cell death were examined in KB human oral cancer cells. Treatment of KB cells with bavachin cells induced inhibition of cell growth in a concentration- and a time-dependent manner as determined by MTT assay. Treatment with bavachin induced nuclear condensation and DNA fragmentation in KB cells. Proteolytic processing of caspases-3, -7, -8, and -9 was elevated by bavachin treatment in KB cells. These results suggest that bavachin can induce suppression of cell growth and cell apoptosis in KB human oral cancer cells, and thus it may have potential effects for anti-cancer drug discovery.

      • 라만 발생기에서 문턱에너지의 집속 조건에 대한 의존성

        라만 발생기에서 스톡스광과 반스톡스광의 결합을 고려하여 집속조건에 따른 문턱에너지의 변화를 이론적 및 실험적으로 조사하였다. 실험은 Nd:YAG 레이저를 펌핑 광원으로 사용하였고 라만 매질은 40 기압의 메탄이었다. 실험 결과 집속상수(confocal parameter)가 증가할 수록 스톡스광의 문턱에너지가 감소하는 결과를 얻었고 이는 기존의 다른 실험자들의 결과와 같다. 이론적으로 반스톡스광을 고려하지 않을 경우에 집속상수가 클수록, 실험 결과와는 반대로, 무턱에너지가 커지는 결과를 얻는데, 이 논문에서는 스톡스광과 반스톡스광의 결합을 고려하여 실험 결과와 일치하는 결과를 얻었다. The dependence of Stokes threshold energy on focusing geometry is investigated theoretically and experimentally in a Raman generator. The pumping light source is a Nd:YAG laser of pulsewidth 10 ㎱. The Raman medium is methane gas of 40 atm. The experimentally results show that the threshold energy increases as the confocal parameter increases. Theoretically, the coupled equation of the Stokes and anti―Stokes waves is solved and the threshold energy is calculated numerically by the gain of the coupled modes. The results are in good agreement with the experimental results.

        Effects of dietary supplementation with probiotic CS-A on performance in broiler chickens

        Probiotics, enzymes, organic acids, oligosaccharides, antioxidants, and other functional materials are actively being explored as alternatives to antibiotics. Probiotics include live beneficial microorganisms that colonize the intestinal tract and competitively inhibit attachment and growth of harmful microbes. Probiotics also increase feed efficiency by assisting in nutrient absorption and digestion. The current study was conducted in order to evaluate the effect of a new probiotic, CS-A, as a dietary supplement of a fermented product on growth performance, feed intake, and feed conversion efficiency in broiler chickens, and to evaluate its value as an alternative for antibiotics used as a feed additive. Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects of CS-A were investigated in vitro and the in vivo effects of a constant concentration of supplemented CS-A on growth rate and feed efficiency were evaluated. In addition, the safety of CS-A was assessed by examination of common symptoms and mortality. Determination of minimal inhibitory concentration revealed an excellent antibacterial effect of CS-A. Cytotoxicity was low and anti-inflammatory effects were achieved at the effective concentration of CS-A. Supplementation with 0.1% CS-A resulted in a feed efficiency score of 1.84 in broilers, compared to 2.00 in the control group. There were no adverse clinical findings, necropsy findings, hematology, and altered serum biochemistry parameters, and no mortality. Thus, it is concluded that CS-A is safe and effective as a feed additive.

        Therapeutic Effect of Total Ginseng Saponin on Skin Wound Healing

        In this study, we investigated the effects of total ginseng saponin (TGS) on the cutaneous wound healing process using histological analysis. A total of 24 ICR mice, 5-weeks-old, were used for all in vivo experiments. Mice were divided into control and TGS-treated groups and four equidistant 1-cm full-thickness dorsal incisional wounds were created. The wounds were extracted at days 1, 3, 5, and 7 post-injury for histomorphometrical analysis including wound area and contracture measurements, keratinocyte migration rate, and calculation of infiltrating inflammatory cells. The results showed that the wound area was smaller and keratinocyte migration rate was higher in the TGS-treated group than that of the control group from days 3 to 7. Inflammatory cells in the TGS-treated group at days 1 and 3 were reduced compared to the control group. Wound contraction in the TGS-treated group was greater than in the control group on days 3 to 5, and collagen deposition in the TGS-treated group was higher than in the control group during wound healing. The results indicate a beneficial effect of TGS when used to treat skin wounds.

        본 연구는 완도 본섬 지역에 분포하는 관속식물상을 밝히고 주요 식물들의 분포를 확인하는데 그 목적이 있다. 2010년 5월부터 2013년 10월까지 식물상을 파악한 결과 131과 446속 733종 1아종 81변종 13품종의 총828분류군이 확인되었다. 환경부지정 식물구계학적 특정식물종은 모두 159종으로 단풍딸기 등 Ⅴ등급종 6분류군, 혹난초 등 Ⅳ등급종은 9분류군, 영주치자 등 Ⅲ등급종은 42분류군, Ⅱ등급종은 9분류군, Ⅰ등급종은 93분류군이 조사되었다. 국립수목원 희귀식물로는 멸종위기종(CR)인 지네발란, 왕벚나무 2종, 위기종(EN)인 혹난초, 나도고사리삼 2종, 취약종(VU)으로 호랑가시나무, 모감주나무 등 11종, 약관심종(LC)은 7종, 자료부족종(DD)은 6종이 확인 되었다. 또한 귀화식물은 12과 27속 33종 1변종으로 총34분류군이 조사되었으며, 한국특산식물은 노각나무, 병꽃나무 등 11분 류군이 확인 되었다. This study was carried out to investigate the vascular flora of main island of Wando. The vascular plants were surveyed from May 2010 to October 2013. The results were summarized as 828 taxa, 131 families, 446 genus, 733 species, 1 subspecies, 81 varieties and 13 forms. The number of floristic regional indicator plants were 159 taxa with 6 taxa of level Ⅴ such as Rubus palmatus Thunb., 9 taxa of level Ⅳ such as Bulbophyllum inconspicuumMaxim., 42 taxa of level Ⅲ such as Bulbophyllum inconspicuum Maxim., 9 taxa of level Ⅱ, 93 taxa of level Ⅰ. In addition, two critically endangered species(CR), Sarcanthus scolopendrifolius Makino and Prunus yedoensisMatsum., two endangered species(EN), Bulbophyllum inconspicuumMaxim. and Ophioglossum vulgatum L., eleven vulnerable species(VU), such as I lex cornuta Lindl. & Paxton and Koelreuteria paniculata Laxmann, seven least concrned species(LC) and six data deficient species(DD), were found in the investigated area. Also, naturalized plants were recorded as 34 taxa, 12 families, 27 genus, 33species and 1 varieties; 11 endermic plants of Korea, such as Stewartia pseudocamelliaMaxim. and Weigela subsessilis (Nakai) L.H.Bailey.

        환혼산(還魂散)이 실험적(實驗的)으로 유발(誘發)한 종양(腫瘍)에 미치는 영향(影響)

        Hwanhonsan has been used for curing tumor as a Oriental medicine without any experimental evidence to support the rational basis for their clinical use. This experiment was carried out to evaluate the possible therapeutic or antitumoral effects of Hwanhonsan extract against cancer, and to study some mechanisms responsible for its effect. Some kind of tumors were induced by the typical application of 3-methylcholanthrene(MCA) or by the implantation of malignant tumor cells such as leukemia cells(3LL cells) or sarcoma cells(S180 cells) and FasII cells. Treatment of the Hwanhonsan extract(daily 1 mg/mouse, i.p.) was continued for 7 days prior to tumor induction and after that the treatment was lasted for 20 hrs. Against squamous cell carcinoma induced by MCA, Hwanhonsan decreased. not only the frequency of tumor production but also the number and weight of tumors per tumor bearing mice(TBM). Hwanhonsan also significantly suppressed the development of 3LL cells and S180 cells implanted tumors by frequency and their size, and some developed tumors were regressed by the continuous treatment of Hwanhonsan extract into TBM. However, when tumor was induced by FsaII cells implantation, the growth of implanted cells in mice was delayed by the water extract of Hwanhonsan until 7 days and then rapid growth ensued. In vitro treatment of Hwanhonsan extract had no inhibitory effect on the tumor induced by some kind of cell lines such as A431 cells strain but it significantly inhibited the proliferation of 3LL cells, S180 cells. These results suggested that Hwanhonsan extract exhibited a significant prophylactic benefits against tumors and its antitumor activity was manifested depending on the type of tumor cells.

      • 1996년과 1999년 경기지역 초등학교 학생들에서 유행성이하선염에 대한 면역도 조사

        Background : Although massive use of live attenuated mumps virus vaccines successfully reduced the incidence of mumps virus infection worldwide, mumps outbreaks have not been completely eliminated, even in vaccinated populations. In recent years, the incidence of mumps has been remarkably increased in Korea. This study was designed to evaluate the recent seroprevalence rate of mumps IgG among children in Kyonggi province at 1996 and 1999. Methods : Study population included students from 8 elementary schools in Kyonggi province. Serum samples were collected twice at 1996 and 1999 and tested for mumps-specific antibody by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). We also conducted a questionnaire survey on the parents and collected the records including history of vaccination and mumps infection. Results : The seropositive rates against mumps were 89.47% and 89.74% at 1996 and 1999, respectively, and they were not significantly different when compared to age, sex, and region. Although the first vaccination rates were 92.17% and 92.25% at 1996 and 1999, respectively, the second vaccination rates were only 37.89% and 38.03% at 1996 and 1999, respectively. Infection rate showed no significant difference between vaccinated groups and nonvaccinated gropus. Seropositive rate of infected group was higher than that of noninfected group but it was not significantly different between the vaccinated and the nonvaccinated. Conclusions : This study showed the seropositive rate and vaccination against mumps in children. There were no significant relationships between vaccination and infection. Therefore, it seems likely that the vaccination is not fully protective against mumps infection. This study will be helpful for the establishment of guideline for prevention and treatment of mumps in Korea. (Korean J Infect Dis 33: 157∼164, 2001)
