중학생이 바라본 학교스포츠클럽 활동의 교육적 가치 탐색

본 연구는 중학교 교육과정 내 창의적 체험활동 중 스포츠동아리 활동으로 운영되고 있는 학교스포츠클럽활동에 대하여 중학생들이 바라본 교육적 가치를 탐색하는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구참여자는 수도권 소재 중학교에서 학교스포츠클럽 활동에 참여하고 있는 2, 3학년 학생 6명을 선정하였다. 자료 수집은 학기 중(4∼6월) 3회의 심층면담을 실시하였다. 자료 분석은 Spradley(1979)가 제안한 영역분석과 분류분석 방법으로 실시하였다. 연구의 진실성은 구성원 간 검토와 동료 점검을 통해 확보하였다. 연구 결과는 ‘학습과제활동 경험의 가치’와 ‘지도자의 전문성에 대한 가치’로 도출되었다. 구체적으로는 학습과제 활동 경험의 가치에서는 다양한 활동에서 나만의 능력 찾기, 게임의 전략과 전술 이해하기, ‘남녀학생 우정 다지기’등으로 분석되었다. ‘지도자의 전문성’에 대한 교육적 가치는 ‘정확한 시범과 피드백 제공’, ‘수업운영의 확고한 신념’, ‘학생의 마음 이해하기’, ‘상담을 통한 고민 해결’등으로 분석되었다. 연구 결과를 종합해보면, 교과의 목적에 따른 수업운영과 지도자의 전문성을 향상시키기 위한 방안들을 선행연구를 토대로 논의하였으며, 학교스포츠클럽 활동이 교과활동으로서 가치를 높이기 위한 수업 방안을 제시하였다. The purpose of this study was to explore educational values of School Sports Club experience on the middle school students. Subjects for this study were six middle school students who joined the sport club activities in the metropolitan area. Data collection was committed based on in-depth interview of middle school students. Collected data were analyzed using domain analysis and taxonomic analysis proposed by Spradley(1979). Member check and peer review were conducted for reliability. The results of this study were classified into two domains. Value of learning experience’and ‘understanding the strategies and tactics of the game’were inductively determined by data analysis. In the values of learning experience, finding one’s own ability from various activities’and ‘forming a friendship between male and female students through team activity’were most valuable experiences in sport club activities. An accurate demonstration and feedback’, ‘firm believes of class management’, ‘deep consideration for students’, and ‘counselling career’were related to the value of instructors’ expertise. This study provided some valuable information for the following research on the issues of school sports club and special activities.

<P>Ferroelectric based heterostructures have shown great promises in solar water splitting due to unique photoelectrochemical (PEC) properties including polarization-induced charge separation and tunable electrochemical surface reaction. A highly ordered ferroelectric BiFeO3/TiO2 nanotube (TNT) heterostructures were fabricated by anodic oxidation and pulsed laser deposition. The microscopic morphology, optical, and PEC properties of nanostructures were characterized. The BiFeO3/TNT photoelectrode is photoactive under visible light illumination, which exhibits higher photocurrent from greater water oxidation, compared with the pure TNT photoelectrode. The coating thickness of BiFeO3 strongly affected the photoelectrochemical properties. The enhanced PEC performance could be attributed to the effective charge separation and the favorable band bending for water oxidation, originating from ferroelectric polarization-related internal field. <P>We report the feasibility of a novel contrast agent, namely 'smart' gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), in the detection of cancer cells with photothermal optical coherence tomography (PT-OCT). 'Smart' AuNPs form aggregation in low pH condition, which is typical for cancer cells, and this aggregation results in a shift of their absorption spectrum. A PT-OCT system was developed to detect this pH-induced aggregation by combining an OCT light source and a laser with 660 nm in wavelength for photothermal excitation. Optical detection of pH-induced aggregation was tested with solution samples at two different pH conditions. An increase in optical path length (OPL) variation was measured at mild acidic condition, while there was not much change at neutral condition. Detection of cancer cells was tested with cultured cell samples. HeLa and fibroblast cells, as cancer and normal cells respectively, were incubated with 'smart' gold nanoparticles and measured with PT-OCT. An elevated OPL variation signal was detected with the HeLa cells while not much of a signal was detected with the fibroblast cells. With the novel optical property of 'smart' AuNPs and high sensitivity of PT-OCT, this technique is promising for cancer cell detection.</P>
Sarcopenia as a Predictor of Prognosis in Early Stage Ovarian Cancer

Background: To identify sarcopenia as a predictive prognostic factor of ovarian cancer in terms of survival outcome in patients with early-stage ovarian cancer. Methods: Data of Konkuk University Medical Center from March 2002 to December 2017 were reviewed retrospectively. Eighty-two patients who underwent surgery due to early-stage (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics stage I/II) ovarian cancer and had computed tomography (CT) images taken at the initial diagnosis were included. The initial CT scan images were analyzed with SliceOmatic software (TomoVision). A sarcopenia cutoff value was defined as a skeletal muscle index of ≤ 38.7 cm2 /m2 . Overall survival (OS) times were compared according to the existence of sarcopenia, and subgroup analyses were performed. Results: A Kaplan-Meier analysis showed a significant survival disadvantage for patients with early-stage ovarian cancer when they had sarcopenia (P < 0.001; log-rank test). Sarcopenia remained a significant prognostic factor for OS in early-stage ovarian cancer, in a Cox proportional hazards model regression analysis (HR, 21.9; 95% CI, 2.0–199.9; P = 0.006). Conclusion: This study demonstrated that sarcopenia was predictive of OS in patients with early-stage ovarian cancer. Further prospective studies with a larger number of patients are warranted to determine the extent to which sarcopenia can be used as a prognostic factor in ovarian cancer.
Fully Automated Measurement of Stent Struts in Intravascular Optical Coherence Tomography

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive, cross-sectional imaging modality that has become a prominent imaging method in percutaneous intracoronary intervention. We present automated algorithms for detecting stent strut coordinates and lumen border in the OCT im- ages. The algorithm is composed of the image transformation from the Cartesian to the polar coordinates, and application of the second derivative operators and the local region-based seg-mentation method to detect stent strut and the lumen boundaries, respectively. The method was applied to the OCT pullback images acquired from 5 human patients in vivo and the experimen- tal results showed the good performance of the proposed method.
