        Air Pollution Reduction Strategies of World Major Ports

        Pollution emissions from international shipping and port activities have a significant impact on public health and global climate changes. The purpose of this paper is to review the status of pollution mitigation measures implemented to date in port industry and find out some implications for Korean ports. For this aim, the clean air strategies of the world major ports including six USA ports (Los Angeles/Long Beach, Now York/New Jersey, and Seattle and Tacoma), two European ports (Rotterdam and Gothenburg) and Busan Port were considered. Various measures to reduce emission from ports are evaluated by sectors-ocean going vessels, cargo handling equipments, truck and rail-, on the basis of categories such as reduction control technologies, operational changes and market-based measures. The policy implications of this paper are as follows. First, Clean Air Act Plans of Korean ports are required as soon as possible. Second, integrated approach is required to reduce emission effectively. Finally, the effect of port-related emission reduction can be maximized when various measures are conducted on a regional basis including neighboring ports. Furthermore, regional or global-based approach is useful to guarantee the level playing field among ports.

        정지용 시의 ‘나븨’와 죽음 의식

        이 논문의 목적은 정지용 시의 ‘나븨’ 표상에 주목하여 그의 시에 나타난 죽음 의식의 특성을 고찰하려는 것이다. 9편에 이르는 지용의 ‘나븨’ 관련 시 중 다수가 1927년과 1941년에 집중적으로 발표되었다는 사실을 고려할 때, ‘나븨’ 표상의 활용은 시인의 의도와 직접적으로 연동되었을 가능성이 크기 때문이다. 이러한 맥락에 주목하여 이루어진 본론의 논지는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 지용 시 전반에 걸쳐 등장하는 ‘나븨’ 표상은 죽음과 관련된 시적화자의 정서를 반영한다. 전기와 후기를 불문하고, 대부분의 시에서 시적화자의 비극적 현실 인식과 죽음 의식이 직간접적으로 드러나고 있음을 확인할 수 있다. 따라서 지용 시의 ‘나븨’ 표상에 대한 가장 강력한 대응점은 신산스러운 삶의 고통과 그것을 벗어나는 행위로서의 ‘죽음’이라고 말할 수 있다. 둘째, 비교적 초기에 해당하는 1927년과 후기시의 특징이 전형적으로 드러난 1941년의 ‘나븨’ 표상에는 분명한 차이가 존재한다. 주로 자식의 죽음과 관련된 전자의 ‘나븨’ 표상이 슬픔과 애상의 정조를 바탕으로 한계 상황에 놓인 존재의 절박한 심경과 맞닿아 있다면, 1941년의 시에 보이는 ‘나븨’들은 죽음에 대한 비애 자체에 머물지 않고 외려 삶의 이면을 성찰하게 만드는 관조적 태도를 보여주고 있다. 셋째, 지용의 죽음 의식이 변모하는 중요한 분기점은 1930년대 중반에 발표된 카톨릭 종교시라고 말할 수 있다. 카톨리시즘에 대한 천착 과정을 거치며 현실의 삶과 초월적 삶의 경계에 선 시적 화자의 태도가 형성되었다고 보이기 때문이다. 이처럼 죽음의 비극과 그것으로부터의 초월이 동시적으로 공존하는 세계에 대한 체험은 후기 지용 시의 관조적 세계 인식을 만들어낸 중요한 계기가 된다. The purpose of this article is to bring light on the meaning of the death consciousness in Jiyong’s poetry by focusing on the representation of ‘Nabui(butterfly)’. Relating to the representation of ‘Nabui(butterfly)’, the death consciousness in Jiyong’s poetry has three characteristics mainly. First, the representation of ‘Nabui(butterfly)’ in his poems connotes a painful life and the meaning of the ‘death’ as the act of seeking relief from suffering. second, there are marked differences in the representation of ‘Nabui(butterfly)’ in Jiyong’s poems which were published in 1927 and 1941. The representation of ‘Nabui(butterfly)’ was based on sentiment of sadness and sorrow in his 1923 poem, while it showed a contemplative attitude to introspect the hidden side of life in his 1941 poem. Third, Jiyong published religious poetry influenced by Catholicism in the mid 1930s. This was a important turning point which the death consciousness of Jiyong was transfigured. In the process of digging into Catholicism, it is shown that the narrator’s attitude is formed from the boundaries between practical life and transcendental life.

      • 大氣汚染物質의 變異原性에 關한 硏究 : 마우스 母體 및 胎仔의 小核試驗을 中心으로

        This Study aimed at identifying the cytogenic effect of air pollutants in pregnant mouse and her fetus. Samples of air pollutants were collected by the high volume air sampler in several sites of Seoul from May through December in 1988. Total suspended particulates (TSP) were measured and those of benzene and methanol were extracted and dissolved in dimethyl sulfoxied (DMSO). Those were injected into peritoneal cavity by the concentration and the micronucleated polychromatic erythrocyte (MNPCE) was observed in the bone marrow of mother mice. IN addition, the liver of fetus was extracted and MNPCE was observed. Transplacental genetic toxicity due to air pollutants in both cases was measured in the end. 1. In case of the tar concentration equivalent to those residing in the volume of 100m³ of air, the MNPCEs in the mother's bone marrow were 0.57±0.15% and 0.70±.20% in Shinchon; 0.27±0.17% and 0.40±0.13 In Jungrung and in the underground shopping center ; 0.33±0.10% and 0.55±0.13% in the subway station. The MNPCEs measured in the sample of the tunnels, of which tar concentration was equivalent to that in 50m³ and 100m³ of air, were 0.86±0.24% and 1.06±0.17% in tunnel A and 0.70±0.15% and 0.96±0.23% in tunnel B; those were the highest MNPCE in the samples of mother mice. 2. The MNPCEs measured in the liver of featus were 0.60±0.25% and 0.80±0.15% in Shinchon. In Jungrung and the underground shopping center, the MNPCEs in the liver of fetus were the same as those in mothers. In the sample of the subway station, the MNPCEs in the liver of fetus, 0.73±0.20%, were higher than in mothers only in the 200? tar concentration. The MNPCEs in the 50m³ and 100m³ tar concentration were 0.87±0.10% and 1.27±0.27% in tunnel A, and 0.68±0.41% and 1.07±0.23% in tunnel B. It showed that the MNPCEs only in the 100m³ tar concentration were higher than those in mothers.

      • 소켓형 부품의 전후방 복합압출에 관한 실험적 해석

        Effect of some process variables such as area reduction, stroke advance, materials on the extrusion load, plastic flow and height ratio of upper to lower extruded parts in the backward-forward extrusion of socket shaped parts are experimentally investigated and analyzed. Deformed pattern is visualized by photo-etching technique using half-cut billets splitted. The influence of using split and original specimen on the extrusion load and height ratio is examined by experiment. Aluminum 2024 and commercial pure copper are employed as working materials. Die setup is installed on the UTM and experiments are carried out at room temperature.

      • 동북아 항만들의 경쟁전략에 관한 연구

        지난 20세기 이후 가장 역동적인 변화를 보여 온 동북아 항만들의 중심항(hub port) 경쟁이 갈수록 치열해 지고 있는 가운데 최근 중국은 상해 인근 대ㆍ소양산에 초대형 컨테이너터미널의 건설을 추진 중이며, 일본 또한 수퍼중추항만 구상이라는 새로운 항만전략을 수립하였다. 이에 본 연구는 지난 20년간 아시아 컨테이너 항만들의 경쟁입지 및 물동량 변화를 BCG matrix와 총이전분석(total shift analysis)을 각각 사용하여 동태적ㆍ계량적으로 분석하였으며, 이들 변화의 근본요인인 개별항만의 경쟁력을 선사의 입장에서 편의성, 연계성, 비용우위 세 가지 측면에서 비교ㆍ평가하였다. 나아가 우리나라와 직접적 경쟁관계에 있는 중국 상해항의 대ㆍ소양산 항만개발계획과 일본의 수퍼중추항만 구상을 심도있게 분석함으로써 향후 국내항만의 경쟁우위 확보를 위한 정책적시사점을 제시하였다. Nowaday Northeast Asian container ports compete with each other fiercely to become a hub port. Korean government tries to make Busan and Gwangyang as hub ports in this region, However. China will be constructed the Dayangshan and Xiaoyangshan mega container terminal near Shanghai and Japanese government has set up new port development plan, so called Super Hub Port. Under these circumstances, this paper tries to find out dynamic shift of Asian container ports' competitive position during the past 20 years using two empirical methodologies. BCG-matrix and Total Shift Analysis. And the evaluation of Asian port's competitiveness is also conducted from the standpoint of shipping line. After that, this paper analyzes two rival countries' recent port development plan and port strategy to get some policy implication for Korean ports. To keep the competitive advantage over the rival ports in Northeast Asia, Korean government should implement following policies: urgent construction of port facilities, maximization of port service differentiation using Port Cluster, strength of port sales to attract Chinese T/S cargoes, and training of port-related labor.

        21세기 공공도서관 발전방향 및 모델개발연구

        본 연구의 목적은 21세기를 대비한 공공도서관의 발전방향과 모형을 제공하는데 있다. 21세기 공공도서관을 위한 기본 개념은 공평한 접근성과 다양한 이용자 요구를 만족시킬 수 있어야 한다. 이를 위해 공공도서관은 봉사대상과 주제분야를 중심으로 체제가 이루어져야 하며 다른 도서관과 정보를 공유할 수 있어야 한다. 또한 직원은 교육, 연구, 실무경험을 기준으로 하여 자격증을 부여하고, 한 분야에 장기적으로 근무시켜 전문가를 양성하는 배치기준이 필요하다. 도서관 모형은 인구를 중심으로하여 대도시형, 중소도시형, 그리고 농촌 및 소규모형으로 구분하는 것이 바람직하다 The purpose of this study is to provide the development direction and model for the 21 century public library. The 21 century public library should have the accessibility for everyone and provide the satisfaction for all kind of information needs. For these, public libraries would be organized by type of users and topics and share the resources with others. Staff should be hired by the certification based upon education, research, and experience. For the models of public libraries, there were divided to three types: metro, medium, and small rural type of libraries

        북중국 환적화물 추정에 관한 실증연구 : 북미항로를 중심으로 Focusing on Transpacific Route

        본 연구의 목적은 우리나라 동북아 중심화전략의 성패가 달려있다 해도 과언이 아닌 북중국 항만들의 발전에 따른 국내항만의 환적화물 유치물량을 추정해 봄으로써 향후 국내 항만의 대응전략을 모색해 보는데 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 다리엔, 티안진, 칭다오 세 재 북중국 항만의 북미항로에 있어서 컨테이너 물동량과 모선의 기항선박량을 각각 추정하였고, 이를 토대로 향후 우리나라의 북중국발 환적화물을 시나리오별로 예측해 보았다. 그 결과, 선사들의 서비스별 기항항만수가 감소할 경우 향후 우리나라에서 처리할 것으로 예상되는 북중국발 환적물량은 2005년 7만 TEU, 2010년 IS만 TEU에 그칠 것으로 추정되었다. The main purpose of this paper is to forecast transshipment cargo from the Chinese Northern container ports-Dalian, Tianjin and Qingdao, focusing on Transpacific route. For this purpose, some empirical models for forecasting the container cargo from the three ports in Transpacific route, the fleet of mother vessel to call the those ports, the direct transport container cargo and that of transshipment are constructed. According to the results. the future amount of transshipment cargo, which come from the Chinese Northern ports, will be decreased to 70000TEU in 2005 and 150000TEU in 2010. Therefore, Korean ports are recommended to make its efforts the maximization of inherent cargo volume, increase of global shipping company's participation in port operation and creation of Global Advisory Council.

        Currently mobile devices change rapidly our life and they have considerable influences over many parts of our society. If the mobile device is applied to a control system, the usability of the control system is increased with its convenient accessibility and mobility. This paper realizes a motor control system by using a mobile device. The device uses Intel Xscale PXA-250 in which Widows CE is ported. The device is very popular at the applications of mobile devices. Also we consider its application to a mobile robot such as home service robot.

      • Solvent Effects on the ion-pair dynamics of Charge-Transfer complex where bipheny1(derivative) is a doner

        Charge-Transfer Complex has a structure similar to that of the transition state in Solvolysis reaction, thus any information on the charge-transfer Complex and charge transfer reactions is important in organic chemistry. The importance of electron transfer is not limited to organic chemistry, but extends to a wide variety of chemical and biological systems, Biphenyl is frequently used as electron donor in the quenching experiment, and it readily forms a Charge-Transfer Complex with TCNB(tetra cyano benzene) in common organic solvents such as dichloromethane, aceton, and acetonitrile. In our study, Charge-Transfer complexes between TCNB and biphenyl(derivatives) have been investigated indifferent solvents using picosecond laser spectroscopy, Optical excitation of the ground-state charge-transfer complex with picosecond laser pulse generates contact ion pair(CIP) within the time resolution of the experiment. Direct monitoring of the transient absorption of biphenyl(derivative) cation makes possible the investigation of the dynamics of electron back-transfer and ion-pair separation. The variation in ion-pair dynamics with changes in solvent is discussed in terms of the CIP structure, the exoergicity of the reactions, and the thermodynamic driving force.
