To elucidate the pharmacological actions of Ponicir, the effects of the fluid extract on isolated guinea pig ileum, blood vessel permeability in mice, granuloma formation in rats and swelling of rat hind paw were examined. The histamine induced contraction of isolated ileum was significantly blocked by Ponicir fluid extract and the blood vessel permeability was also significantly inhibited. In the experiments on granuloma formation only the exudate formation was inhibited. Forthermore, swelling of hind paw induced by 1% carageenin was also significantly inhibited by Ponicir fluid extract.

<P>Uniform PS-<I>b</I>-P2VP (polystyrene-<I>block</I>-poly-2-vinylpyridine) block copolymer nanoparticles were successfully synthesized using a simple reprecipitation method. <P>A mesoporous (mp)-TiO(2)/Sb(2)S(3)/P3HT [poly(3-hexylthiophene)] heterojunction solar cell displays reduced external quantum efficiency (EQE) at a wavelength of approximately 650 nm. This loss in EQE is due to incomplete charge carrier transport because the transportation of charge carriers generated in P3HT by the absorption of light into Sb(2)S(3) was inefficient, and consequently, the carriers recombined. The depression of the EQE was greatly relieved by introducing the porous structure formed by thermal decomposition of 2,2'-azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) into the P3HT layer.</P>

<P>Performance of Sb<SUB>2</SUB>S<SUB>3</SUB>-sensitized heterojunction solar cells is enhanced by embedding Au nanoparticles in the poly-3-hexylthiophene (P3HT) hole-conducting polymer layer. The improved charge transfer/transport at the Sb<SUB>2</SUB>S<SUB>3</SUB>/P3HT/Au interface by extended interface area of the P3HT/Au counter electrode and the re-absorption of the backscattering light from the embedded Au nanoparticles enhanced the device performance: <I>J</I><SUB>sc</SUB> 11.0 to 12.8 mA cm<SUP>−2</SUP>, <I>V</I><SUB>oc</SUB> 606 to 626 mV, fill factor (FF) 60.5 to 61.2%, and power conversion efficiency (<I>η</I>) 4.0 to 4.9%. Simultaneous enhancement of <I>V</I><SUB>oc</SUB>, <I>J</I><SUB>sc</SUB>, and FF in Au nanoparticle-embedded systems is mainly attributed to the improved charge collection efficiency and light harvesting efficiency of Sb<SUB>2</SUB>S<SUB>3</SUB> due to the improved charge transfer/transport in the Sb<SUB>2</SUB>S<SUB>3</SUB>/P3HT/Au interface.</P> <P>Graphic Abstract</P><P>The performance improvement by the reduction of hole-transport pathways and re-absorption of the back-scattered light from Au nanoparticles embedded in the hole-conducting layer is reported. <IMG SRC='http://pubs.rsc.org/services/images/RSCpubs.ePlatform.Service.FreeContent.ImageService.svc/ImageService/image/GA?id=c2cp23650h'> </P>

논문에서는 풀러렌의 성질, 유기반응, 고분자반응을 설명하였으며, 풀러렌과 고분자의 블렌딩에 대해 소개를 하였다. 또한 다른 화학물질과 풀러렌의 반응성을 기술하였다. 풀러렌의 화학 반응은 가지 사슬 풀러렌 고분자, 주사슬 풀러렌 고분자, 별 모양 풀러렌 고분자, 덴드리머 타입 풀러렌 고분자와 같은 연구에 응용되었다. In this review, the properties of buckminsterfullerene and its organic and polymeric reactions were focused. In addition, polymer blending with C60 will be briefly introduced. As soon as C60 was discovered, chemists put their efforts to explore its reactivity with other compounds. The knowledge of the organic reactions with C60 was extended to construct different types of fullerene polymers such as side chain fullerene polymers, main chain fullerene polymers, star shaped fullerene polymers, and dendritic fullerene polymers.
Biotransformation of Free Isoflavones by Bacillus Species Isolated from Traditional Cheonggukjang

Our previous study showed that isoflavone profile of soybean undergoes a significant change during cheonggukjang preparation. In particular, the content of metabolite(s) with similar retention time to glycitein under the high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) condition was significantly increased while the levels of genistein and its derivatives were notably lowered. Therefore, we hypothesized that genistein and its derivatives might be converted to genistein glucosides with similar elution time to glycitein. Our current data suggest that genistein and its derivatives are extensively metabolized into various compounds including genistein glycosides, but not glycitein or its derivatives, by Bacillus species isolated from traditional cheonggukjang. Some of daidzein was also converted into a derivative with shorter retention time by Bacillus amyloliquefaciens 51 and 86-1 but not by Bacillus subtilis 3-5 and 3-17. As metabolism of soy isoflavones, major health-promoting components in soy products, is widely variable depending upon Bacillus species, it is essential to select microorganism that minimizes the breakdown or modification of soy isoflavones in the process of fermented soy product manufacture.

The mesoscopic $Sb_2S_3$-sensitized photoelectrochemical solar cells using cobalt redox electrolyte exhibit nonlinear behavior of power conversion efficiency with illuminated sun intensity. From the measurement of bulk diffusion and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy studies, we suggest that the nonlinearity of device performance with illuminated sun intensity is attributed not to the slow bulk diffusion problem of cobalt electrolyte but to the limited mass transport in narrowed pore volume in mesoscopic $TiO_2$ electrode.
Primary Gastric Histiocytic sarcoma, similar with an inflammatory pseudotumor: A Case report

Histiocytic sarcoma is a malignant neoplasm that originated from myeloid-derived macrophages, and related to myelomonocytic or lymphoblastic leukemia. Histiocytic sarcoma rarely occurs in the stomach. In previous reports, a few cases of histiocytic sarcoma in the stomach were reported. In this case, a 45-year-old female had complained of patient epigastric pain and melena for 1 month. In her laboratory data, hemoglobin was 8 g/dl. In endoscopic finding, there was an ulcerofungating mass with irregular base coated with dirty exudates in distal antrum and body. Abdominal Computed tomography showed a large ulcerofungating mass involving from gastric antrum to duodenal bulb with suspicious invasion of pancreas. In PET CT, metastatic lymph nodes in infrapyloric, perigastric and right hilar area were found. In pathologic findings, tumor cells showed band-like infiltration mainly in the mucosa and submucosa, but also penetrated into serosa in some areas. Tumor cells largely had intermediate-size nuclei with plump, pink cytoplasm. Because there was lack of high degree of cellular atypia or pleomorphism in pathologic findings, final diagnosis as gastric Histiocytic sarcoma was confused with inflammatory pseudotumor. In immunohistochemical staining, the tumor cells were positive for CD68, CD163, LCA, lysozyme, but negative for other immunomarkers including CD21, CD1a, and MPO. The patient underwent palliative distal gastrectomy. The resected specimen after operation clearly demonstrated the malignant nature of this tumor. Based upon the examination, the authors finally diagnosed her as histiocytic sarcoma. The patient was referred to oncology department after operation. She received chemotherapy such as Etoposide, Cisplatin and Iphosphamide. She has another schedules for additional chemotherapy in the out-patient department clinics.
Nonlinear Dynamic Analysis of Cantilever Tube Conveying Fluid with System Identification

The vibration of a flexible cantilever tube with nonlinear constraints when it is subjected to flow internally with fluids is examined by experimental and theoretical analysis. These kinds of studies have been performed to find the existence of chaotic motion. In this paper, the important parameters of the system leading to such a chaotic motion such as Young's modulus and the coefficient of viscoelastic damping are discussed. The parameters are investigated by means of system identification so that comparisons are made between numerical analysis using the design parameters and the experimental results. The chaotic region led by several period-doubling bifurcations beyond the Hopf bifurcation is also re-established with phase portraits, bifurcation diagram and Lyapunov exponent so that one can define optimal parameters for system design.

Background/Aims: Adequate bowel preparation is important for successful colonoscopy. We aimed to evaluate the clinical feasibility and effectiveness of abdominal vibration stimulation in bowel preparation before therapeutic colonoscopy. Methods: A single center, prospective, randomized, investigator-blinded study was performed between January 2016 and December 2016. Patients for therapeutic colonoscopy were prospectively enrolled and assigned to either the vibrator group or walking group. Patients who refused to participate in this study as part of the experimental group consented to register in the control group instead. During the preparation period, patients assigned to the walking group walked ≥3,000 steps, whereas those assigned to the vibrator group received abdominal vibrator stimulation and restricted walking. All patients received the same colon cleansing regimen: 4-L split-dose polyethylene glycol (PEG) solution. Results: Three hundred patients who received PEG solution for therapeutic colonoscopy were finally enrolled in this study (n=100 per group). Bowel cleansing with abdominal vibration stimulation showed almost similar results to that with walking exercise (Boston Bowel Preparation Scale score for the entire colon: vibrator vs walking vs control, 7.38±1.55 vs 7.39±1.55 vs 6.17±1.15, p<0.001). There were no significant differences between the vibrator group and walking group regarding instances of diarrhea after taking PEG, time to first diarrhea after taking PEG, total procedure time, and patient satisfaction. Conclusions: This study indicates that, compared with conventional walking exercise, abdominal vibration stimulation achieved similar rates of bowel cleansing adequacy and colonoscopy success without compromising safety or patient satisfaction.
