Microscopic varicocelectomy as a treatment option for patients with severe oligospermia

        Chirag Gupta,Arun Chinchole,Rupin Shah,Hemant Pathak,Deepa Talreja,Ankit Kayal 대한비뇨의학회 2018 Investigative and Clinical Urology Vol.59 No.3

Purpose: Many studies have shown improved semen parameters after varicocele surgery; however, the benefit in terms of improved pregnancy rates and live births is still disputed in cases of severe oligoasthenozoospermia (OAS). The present study evaluated the outcome of microscopic subinguinal varicocelectomy in terms of the spontaneous pregnancy rate in patients with severe OAS. Materials and Methods: This was a retrospective, observational, analytic study of 56 men with OAS who underwent microscopic varicocelectomy at our center between 2008 and 2015. The subjects were followed for a mean period of 12.4 months. Outcome was compared among groups of men with mild (sperm concentration, 10.2–19 million/mL), moderate (5.7–9.5 million/mL), and severe (<5 million/mL) OAS who were operated on during the same period. Results: A total of 13 of 35 men (37.1%) with severe OAS achieved spontaneous pregnancy. Mean sperm density increased from 2.29 million/mL preoperatively to 14.09 million/mL postoperatively. The mean time to pregnancy from the date of surgery was 8.5 months. The spontaneous pregnancy rate in men with mild and moderate OAS was 62.5% and 46.2%, respectively. Conclusions: Although pregnancy rates after varicocele surgery are lower preoperatively in men with severe OAS than in men with mild or moderate OAS, the spontaneous pregnancy rate of 37.1% still compares very favorably with outcomes after a single attempt at in vitro fertilization.

A Review on Evolution of Aeroelastic Assisted Wing

Periyasamy Sivanandi,Chirag Gupta,Hari Durai 한국항공우주학회 2023 International Journal of Aeronautical and Space Sc Vol.24 No.3

Aeroelastic wings have a significant capacity like normal flyers, to improve the aircraft's overall performance and maneuverability. It is a plugin that allows changing the airfoil-level morphing like changing wing airfoil, wing camber and wing-level morphing like changing the wing reference area, aspect ratio, sweep, twist, folding, and the angle of attack (AOA) in the wing’s various portions. By dynamically adjusting or enhancing the shape for various flight conditions beyond the current ideas, there are still many new openings. The most prominent forms of morphing mechanisms used mostly for 2D and 3D wing configurations are examined in this research. The technology that is commonly utilized to develop and analyze an aeroelastic wing is thoroughly examined. Adapting morphing technology for practical purposes is highly challenging, and several reasons for this are also considered during the review process.

Open Reduction and Internal Fixation of Isolated Posterior Cruciate Ligament Avulsion Fractures: Clinical and Functional Outcome

        ( Sachin Joshi ),( Chirag Bhatia ),( Ashwin Gondane ),( Avinash Rai ),( Sumer Singh ),( Shobhit Gupta ) 대한슬관절학회 2017 대한슬관절학회지 Vol.29 No.3

Purpose: The posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) presents commonly with avulsion fractures of its tibial attachment. An avulsion fracture of the PCL, if not surgically fixed, may lead to secondary changes in the knee joint. Various fixation techniques have been explored with use of lag screws, steel wires, absorbable screws, suture anchors and straddle nails. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical and functional outcome of open reduction and internal fixation of tibial avulsion injuries of the PCL using cannulated cancellous screws. Materials and Methods: We performed open reduction and internal fixation using cannulated cancellous screws in 14 patients (mean age, 33.9 years) with isolated PCL avulsion injuries. Patients with a duration of injury more than 12 weeks were excluded. The minimum follow-up period was 12 months. Results were assessed radiologically and clinically. Final functional outcome was assessed using the Lysholm knee scoring system. Results: The average follow-up period was 13.5 months. At the final follow-up, all 14 patients achieved fracture union. The average flexion was 121.7°±9.2° with full extension achieved in all patients. Mild instability (1+) was noted in 4 patients. The Lysholm functional score was excellent in 11 patients, good in 2 patients and fair in 1 patient with an average score of 97±7.6. Conclusions: Stable early fixation for PCL avulsion injuries with early controlled mobilization provided excellent to good results. However, fixation should not be discouraged for late-presenting patients because good to fair results can be achieved in such cases.

Clinical behaviour and outcome in pediatric glioblastoma: current scenario

        Aditya Kumar Singla,Renu Madan,Kirti Gupta,Shikha Goyal,Narendra Kumar,Sushant Kumar Sahoo,Deepak K. Uppal,Chirag K. Ahuja 대한방사선종양학회 2021 Radiation Oncology Journal Vol.39 No.1

Pediatric glioblastoma (pGBM) is a rare entity accounting for only approximately 3% of all childhood brain tumors. Treatment guidelines for pGBM have been extrapolated from those in adult glioblastoma. Rarity of pGBM and underrepresentation of pediatric population in major studies precludes from defining the ideal treatment protocol for these patients. Maximum safe resection is performed in most of the cases followed by postoperative radiotherapy in children over 3 years of age. Benefit of temozolomide is unclear in these patients. Here, we present the clinicopathological details and outcome of six pGBM patients treated at our institute in 2018–2019.

Recent progress and growth in biosensors technology: A critical review

        Utkarsh Chadha,Preetam Bhardwaj,Rushali Agarwal,Priyanshi Rawat,Rishika Agarwal,Ishi Gupta,Mahek Panjwani,Shambhavi Singh,Chirag Ahuja,Senthil Kumaran Selvaraj,Murali Banavoth,Prashant Sonar,Badrish B 한국공업화학회 2022 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.109 No.-

Crucial exploitation of biosensors has attained dominant significance in the meadow of drug innovation, drug identification, bio-remedy, food protection principles, security, protection, and ecological examination. It has direct to the innovation of specific and authoritative diagnostic tools that employ biologicalsensing elements as biosensors. Glucometers employ oxygen or hydrogen peroxide electrochemicalrecognition utilizing immobilized glucose oxidase electrodes, showing biosensors’ invention. Currentadvances in biological methods and instrumentation relating to fluorescence tags to nano-materials haveincreased the responsive limit of biosensors. The use of aptamers or nucleotides, antibodies, peptidearrays, and molecule imprinted polymers offer tools to build up novel biosensors over the classicalmethod. Integrated methods offer an improved perception for a buildup of precise and responsive biosensorswith high regenerative potentials. Various biosensors ranging from nanomaterials polymers tomicrobes have more comprehensive potential applications. Combining multifaceted approaches to designbiosensors that comprise the prospective for different usage is reasonably significant. In light of this, thisreview provides an overview of different types of biosensors being used, ranging from electrochemicaland fluorescence tagged, nanomaterials, silica or quartz, and microbes for various biomedical and environmentalapplications with the future outlook of biosensor technology.
