Green algae dominance quickly switches to cyanobacteria dominance after nutrient enrichment in greenhouse with high temperature

        Xiaodong Wang,Xingguo Liu1,Boqiang Qin,Zhaojun Gu,Hao Xu,Hao Zhu,Guofeng Cheng,Huang Liu 한국생태학회 2015 Journal of Ecology and Environment Vol.38 No.3

In order to understand the mechanisms of conversion between different algal dominance, an experiment was performed in a greenhouse from 22 June to 10 July 2011. The experiment included a treatment group subjected to three instances of nutrient enrichment and a control with no nutrient enrichment. The initial water was dominated by Ankistrodesmus of Chlorophyta. The average water temperature at 08:30 h and 14:00 h during the experiment was 31.6°C and 34.6°C, respec¬tively. The results showed that the total nitrogen (TN), total phosphorus (TP), dissolved total nitrogen (DTN), dissolved total phosphorus (DTP), and soluble reactive phosphorus (SRP) concentrations in the treatment were significantly higher than in the control (P < 0.05). However, the TN/TP and DTN/DTP in the control was higher than in the treatment (P < 0.05). The dominant algae in the control did not change during the experiment, while the dominant algae in the treat¬ment switched to Planktothrix of Cyanophyta on day 9. The chlorophyll a (Chl-a), wet weight of all algae, wet weight of Cyanophyta, and percentage of Cyanophyta in the control were all significantly lower than in the treatment (P < 0.05). Amounts of zooplankton, especially rotifers, were present at the end of the experimental period. The density of rotifers between the control and treatment was not significantly different (P > 0.05), while the copepod density in the treatment was higher than in the control (P < 0.05). We conclude that green algae dominance quickly switches to cyanobacteria dominance after nutrient enrichment in a greenhouse with elevated temperature

Research on the Copyright Issues of SNS Image: The Problems Involved in Remake Between Chinese and German

        Liu-Cheng Cheng,최원호 사단법인 한국융합기술연구학회 2023 아시아태평양융합연구교류논문지 Vol.9 No.4

The increasing impact of the network environment on image copyright makes research on the issue of SNS reproducing video copyright crucial for the copyright protection of China's network industry. This paper conducts a comparative analysis of copyright protection laws and regulations for SNS re-edited images in China and Germany across different historical periods. It also examines the copyright infringement liability system for user-generated content on video sharing websites. The study aims to develop a solution for copyright protection in the online video industry that meets China's national conditions, considering the responsibility of infringing users, the identification system of infringement liability of SNS re-edited video sharing websites, the legal compensation system, and the subjects of rights protection, combined with empirical analysis of relevant cases. Both Germany and China have defined corresponding legal responsibilities for users in cases of infringement. For example, Article 46 of the Copyright Law of the People's Republic of China specifies that if a user spreads copyrighted works on the internet without permission, the copyright owner may require the network service provider to take necessary measures to prevent the spread of the works. Similarly, German tort law requires users to undertake corresponding responsibility for their actions in cases of network torts. Therefore, both countries have similar rules regarding user responsibility in infringement cases. The results of the comparative analysis of copyright protection laws and regulations in China and Germany, with a focus on SNS reproducing video copyright, have significant implications for the copyright protection of China's network industry. The study ultimately aims to provide a suitable solution for copyright protection in the online video industry that aligns with China's national conditions.

      • Effect of Intraoperative Glucose Fluctuation and Postoperative IL-6, TNF-α, CRP Levels on the Short-term Prognosis of Patients with Intracranial Supratentorial Neoplasms

Liu, Tie-Cheng,Liu, Qi-Ran,Huang, Ying Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.24

Objective: To investigate the effect of intraoperative glucose fluctuation and postoperative interlukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-${\alpha}$ (TNF-${\alpha}$), C-reactive protein (CRP) levels on the short-term prognosis of patients with intracranial supratentorial neoplasms. Materials and Methods: Eighty-six patients undergoing intracranial excision were selected in The Second Hospital of Jilin University. According to the condition of glucose fluctuation, the patients were divided into group A (glucose fluctuation <2.2 mmol/L, n=57) and group B (glucose fluctuation ${\geq}2.2mmol/L$, n=29). Glucose was assessed by drawing 2 mL blood from internal jugular vein in two groups in the following time points, namely fasting blood glucose 1 d before operation ($T_0$), 5 min after anesthesia induction ($T_1$), intraoperative peak glucose ($T_2$), intraoperative lowest glucose ($T_3$), 5 min after closing the skull ($T_4$), immediately after returning to intensive care unit (ICU) ($T_5$) and 2 h after returning to ICU ($T_6$). 1 d before operation and 1, 3 and 6 d after operation, serum IL-6 and TNF-${\alpha}$ levels were detected with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and CRP level with immunoturbidimetry. Additionally, postoperative adverse reactions were monitored. Results: There was no statistical significance between two groups regarding the operation time, anesthesia time, amount of intraoperative bleeding and blood transfusion (P>0.05). The glucose levels in both groups at $T_1{\sim}T_6$ went up conspicuously compared with that at $T_0$ (P<0.01), and those in group B at $T_2$, $T_4$, $T_5$ and $T_6$ were significantly higher than in group A (P<0.01). Serum IL-6, TNF-${\alpha}$ and CRP levels in both groups 1, 3 and 6 d after operation increased markedly compared with 1 d before operation (P<0.01), but the increased range in group A was notably lower than in group B (P<0.05 or P<0.01). Postoperative incidences of hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia and myocardial ischemia in group A were significantly lower than in group B (P<0.05), and respiratory support time obviously shorter than in group B (P<0.01). Conclusions: The glucose fluctuation of patients undergoing intracranial excision is related to postoperative IL-6, TNF-${\alpha}$ and CRP levels and those with small range of glucose fluctuation have better prognosis.

CD4/CD8 Ratio: An Independent Predictor of Herpes Zoster in Patients With Autoimmune Inflammatory Rheumatic Diseases

        Liu Peng-Cheng,Peng Yi-Lin,Li Jian-Bin,Lv Meng-Na,Yu Shu-Jiao,Wu Rui 대한피부과학회 2024 Annals of Dermatology Vol.36 No.3

Background: A higher incidence of herpes zoster (HZ) was found in people with decreased cell-mediated immunity. However, the relationship between cellular immunity and HZ infec- tion in patients with autoimmune inflammator y rheumatic diseases (AIRD) remains elusive. Objective: To investigate the role of CD4/CD8 ratio in patients with AIRD and HZ. Methods: This case-control study compared AIRD patients with and without HZ. We chose 70 AIRD patients with HZ as the experimental group and 140 AIRD patients without HZ as the control group. The clinical and laborator y findings were assessed in each trial participant. Results: The CD4/CD8 ratio (odds ratio [OR], 0.22; 95% confidence inter val [CI], 0.10–0.49) was independently associated with the occurrence of HZ after adjusting for various confounders. Nonlinear analysis has unveiled a more profound nonlinear relationship between the CD4/CD8 ratio and the occurrence of HZ in patients with AIRD. The OR of HZ increased with a decreasing CD4/CD8 ratio before the turning point of 2. The adjusted regression coefficient was 0.14 (95% CI, 0.05–0.37, p<0.0001) for CD4/CD8 ratio less than 2. Conclusion: The CD4/CD8 ratio was expected to be a ver y promising quantitative biomarker for predicting the risk of developing HZ in patients with AIRD.

Discrimination of neutrons and gamma-rays in plastic scintillator based on spiking cortical model

        Liu Bing-Qi,Liu Hao-Ran,Chang Lan,Cheng Yu-Xin,Zuo Zhuo,Li Peng 한국원자력학회 2023 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.55 No.9

In this study, a spiking cortical model (SCM) based n-g discrimination method is proposed. The SCMbased algorithm is compared with three other methods, namely: (i) the pulse-coupled neural network (PCNN), (ii) the charge comparison, and (iii) the zero-crossing. The objective evaluation criteria used for the comparison are the FoM-value and the time consumption of discrimination. Experimental results demonstrated that our proposed method outperforms the other methods significantly with the highest FoM-value. Specifically, the proposed method exhibits a 34.81% improvement compared with the PCNN, a 50.29% improvement compared with the charge comparison, and a 110.02% improvement compared with the zero-crossing. Additionally, the proposed method features the second-fastest discrimination time, where it is 75.67% faster than the PCNN, 70.65% faster than the charge comparison and 38.4% slower than the zero-crossing. Our study also discusses the role and change pattern of each parameter of the SCM to guide the selection process. It concludes that the SCM's outstanding ability to recognize the dynamic information in the pulse signal, improved accuracy when compared to the PCNN, and better computational complexity enables the SCM to exhibit excellent n-g discrimination performance while consuming less time.

      • Alcohol based vapor annealing of a poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) layer for performance improvement of inverted perovskite solar cells

        Liu, Guanchen,Xie, Xiaoyin,Liu, Zhihai,Cheng, Guanjian,Lee, Eun-Cheol The Royal Society of Chemistry 2018 Nanoscale Vol.10 No.23

<P>In this study, we introduced alcohol based vapor annealing of a poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) layer for fabricating high-performance inverted perovskite solar cells. Atomic force microscopy measurements and atomistic theoretical simulations indicated that phase separation between PEDOT and PSS was enhanced by this annealing, improving the hole conductivity at the PEDOT:PSS layer. As a result of using methanol, the short-circuit current density improved from 20.7 to 21.6 mA cm−2; consequently, the power conversion efficiency (PCE) improved from 16.1 to 17.3%. However, using ethanol or isopropanol yielded a smaller performance improvement. The PCEs of the best sample in this study under forward and reverse scans were 17.7 and 18.0%, respectively, indicating that the PSC had a small hysteresis. Our results suggest that alcohol vapor annealing is a simple and effective method of developing high-performance inverted perovskite solar cells.</P>

      • Slide Session : OS-CAD-06 ; Cardiology : Erythrocytosis Increased One-Year Mortality in Patients with St-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction Un-dergoing Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention

( Cheng Wei Liu ),( Yi Ching Lin ),( Chung Ming Tu ),( Pen Chih Liao ),( Kuan Change Chen ),( Yen Wen Wu ) 대한내과학회 2014 대한내과학회 추계학술대회 Vol.2014 No.1

Background: Anemia is associated with poor prognosis in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction(STEMI). However, it is unclear that erythrocytosis has protective effect in these populations. Hence, we conducted a retrospective cohort study to examine the relationship between erythrocytosis and mortality in patients with STEMI undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI ). Materials and Methods: We screened 1,156 consecutive patients with STEMI undergoing primary PCI in a single center during Feb 2007 and January 2012. There were 201 missing data for door-to-balloon time and 4 missing data for hemoglobin. Of 951 analyzable patients, they were divided into anemia (Hemoglobin<13.0mg/dl in men or <12.0mg/dl in women), normal hemoglobin, and erythrocytosis (hemoglobin =16.0mg/dl in men or =15.0mg/dl in women) groups. The study end point was one-year mortality. Results: There were 148, 535, and 268 patients in anemia, normal hemoglobin, and erythrocytosis groups, respectively. Patients in the anemia group were older and had lower body mass index than other two groups. There was more female, smokers, hypertension, and diabetes in the anemia group. One-year mortality rates were 16.2%, 6.5%, 2.6% (P<0.001) respectively. In univariate proportional hazards regression analysis, age, hemoglobin, total cholesterol, statin use, glycoprotein llb/llla inhibitor use, and TIMI risk score were associated with 1-year mortality in three groups. After adjustment for potential confounders, hemoglobin levels remained an independent predictor of one-year mortality in both anemia (hazard ratio 0.697, 95% CI 0.528-0.960) and erythrocytosis group (hazard ratio 3.129, 95% CI 1.1.474-6.642). Conclusions: Patients with STEMI and anemia had the worst outcomes than normal hemoglobin and erythrocytosis groups. Expectedly, hemoglobin had the protective effect on prognosis in anemia group. However, a hemoglobin level was an independent risk factor of one-year mortality in those with erythrocytosis.

      • Schistosomiasis Combined with Colorectal Carcinoma Diagnosed Based on Endoscopic Findings and Clinicopathological Characteristics: A Report on 32 Cases

        Liu, Wei,Zeng, Hong-Ze,Wang, Qi-Ming,Yi, Hang,Mou, Yi,Wu, Chun-Cheng,Hu, Bing,Tang, Cheng-Wei Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.8

Aims and Background: To improve understanding of the relationship between schistosome-related enteropathy and colorectal carcinoma with particular focus on endoscopic findings and clinicopathological characteristics of colonic schistosomiasis. Materials and Methods: All cases of intestinal schistosomiasis diagnosed at West China Hospital, Chengdu, China, between October 2006 and October 2012 were included in this study. A total of 179 cases of colonic schistosomiasis diagnosed through colonoscopy and pathological examinations were collected for analysis and the demographics, symptoms, endoscopic findings and clinicopathological characteristics were retrospectively evaluated. Results: Of the 179 colonic schistosomiasis patients, 32 combined with colorectal cancer (CRC) were found, between the ages of 44 and 85 years (24 males, 75%). These 32 lesions were classified as 12 endophytic/ulcerative (37.5%), 10 exophytic/fungating (31.2%), 4 annular (12.5%), 3 giant polypus (9.4%), and 3 IIc (superficial depressed type) (9.4%). The segments of rectum and sigmoid colon were involved in 19 patients (59.4%) and 6 patients (18.8%), respectively. The histopathologic types were classified as follows: 30 welldifferentiated adenocarcinomas, one mucinous adenocarcinoma and one poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma. The pathological findings suggest colorectal malignancy with deposited schistosome ova. Conclusions: Chronic schistosomal infestation has a probable etiological role in promoting genesis of colorectal neoplasms.
