This study examined the influence of various factors of RFID use in mobile RFID environment, focusing on pharmacies` RFID systems. The purpose of the study was to verify the possibility of a more widespread use of RFID and mobile RFID in medical industry by exploring what impact RIFD use factors have on the intention to use in RFID environment. The subjects were pharmacists who have their own pharmacies in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. Of 400 questionnaires distributed to the respondents, 392 were used in the final analysis except 8 with insufficient answers. The empirical analysis results showed that perceived security, perceived cost, and social influence had significant impacts on trust, while social influence and perceived cost had significant impacts on perceived risk. Among RFID use factors, social influence, perceived security, and perceived risk had significant impacts on intention to use in mobile RFID environment. Trust and perceived cost did not have a significant impact. The summary of analysis results, implications, and limitations are presented in the conclusion.

Ticks are vectors that cause disease by transmitting bacteria, viruses, and protozoa to humans or animals. The Asian longhorned tick Haemaphysalis longicornis, a vector of medical and veterinary importance, is widely distributed in the Korean peninsula and can transmit various pathogens including Rickettsia spp., Borrelia spp., Francisella spp., Coxiella spp., and severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTS virus). Despite the abundance and importance, studies on the microbiome of H. longicornis in Korea are limiting. Here we first report the microbiome diversity of H. longicornis in terms of region, stage, and sex. H. longicornis used in this study were collected from 16 different regions. The V3-V4 region was amplified and sequenced by MiSeq platform. The microbial diversity analysis was performed using Qiime2. A total of 1,754,418 non-chimeric reads were obtained from a total of 46 samples, and an average of 126 operational taxonomic units (OTUs) and a total of 1,398 OTUs were identified. Our results were used for H. longicornis microbial community database construction for each region that enables to identify singularities in each region.

Glycogenic hepatopathy (GH) is an uncommon cause of serum transaminase elevation in type I diabetes mellitus (DM). The clinical signs and symptoms of GH are nonspecific, and include abdominal discomfort, mild hepatomegaly, and transaminase elevation. In this report we describe three cases of patients presenting serum transaminase elevation and hepatomegaly with a history of poorly controlled type I DM. All of the cases showed sudden elevation of transaminase to more than 30 times the upper normal range (like in acute hepatitis) followed by sustained fluctuation (like in relapsing hepatitis). However, the patients did not show any symptom or sign of acute hepatitis. We therefore performed a liver biopsy to confirm the cause of liver enzyme elevation, which revealed GH. Clinicians should be aware of GH so as to prevent diagnostic delay and misdiagnosis, and have suffi cient insight into GH; this will be aided by the present report of three cases along with a literature review.

<P>Shared decision-making may increase the effectiveness of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) treatment, as different anti-tumor necrosis factor (anti-TNF) administrations may have different effects on the quality of life (QOL). Patient preference is integral to the selection of anti-TNFs and their routes of administration, however, previous studies on the patient preference to anti-TNFs are inconsistent and limited. We evaluated the predictive factors for preferences to anti-TNF administrations in IBD patients between March and August in 2015. Consecutive adult IBD patients who received care at one of four university hospitals in Korea were invited to participate in this study. Patients were administered questionnaires about their preferences regarding anti-TNF therapy and QOL. During the study period, 322 IBD patients completed the questionnaires. IBD patients preferred intravenous anti-TNFs to subcutaneous anti-TNFs (2.4:1), and 58.4% of patients preferred shared decision-making. When comparing subcutaneous anti-TNF therapy with intravenous anti-TNF therapy, patients with higher income levels, patients who experienced adverse events with prior medication and patients with a longer disease duration preferred subcutaneous anti-TNF therapy over intravenous anti-TNF therapy (<I>P</I> = 0.043, <I>P</I> = 0.000, and <I>P</I> = 0.029, respectively). In a logistic regression analysis, high income level (odds ratio [OR] 2.0; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.1–3.5; <I>P</I> = 0.026) and an adverse event with prior medication (OR 4.0; 95% CI 2.2–7.2; <I>P</I> = 0.000) and were found to be independent predictors for preference to subcutaneous anti-TNF therapy. Therefore, physicians should share decision-making with their IBD patients regarding the mode of anti-TNF administration.</P>

In the maxillary anterior region, reconstruction of the localized alveolar ridge defect is very important in enhancing the esthetics of fixed partial denture. A 40-year-old female patient presented with a chief complaint of the inconvenience and unesthetic problem of 3-unit maxillary anterior prosthesis due to alveolar ridge resorption. After removal of old prosthesis, intraoral examination revealed moderate (buccolingually 4 mm) ridge deficiency in missing tooth region, leading to the diagnosis of Class I alveolar ridge defect. One of the reconstruction techniques to overcome this problem might be a technique that combines two types of soft tissue augmentation techniques. The purpose of this paper was to demonstrate the new combined technique of roll flap and combination onlay-interpositional graft utilized to acquire sufficient dimension of recipient area by one time of operation and to present the esthetic improvement of fixed partial denture by using this procedure in case of maxillary anterior localized ridge defect.

Mg–Al–Zn–Ca–Y (SEN) alloys have been recently developed by adding small amounts of Ca and Y to commercial Mg–Al–Zn (AZ series) alloys. These alloys possess superior corrosion and ignition resistances to their commercial AZ seriescounterparts. Here, commercial AZ91 (Mg–9Al–0.8Zn, wt%) and developed SEN9 (Mg–9Al–0.8Zn–0.3Ca–0.2Y, wt%)alloys are extruded under the same conditions, and the microstructure, tensile properties, and high-cycle fatigue propertiesof the extruded alloys are compared. The extruded SEN9 alloy has a smaller average grain size and higher microstructuralhomogeneity than the extruded AZ91 alloy because the Al2Y,Al2Ca,and Al8Mn4Yparticles in the homogenized SEN9 billetpromote dynamic recrystallization during extrusion. Despite their different microstructures, the two alloys possess similartensile strengths because the strong precipitation hardening in the extruded AZ91 alloy is offset by strong grain-boundaryhardening in the extruded SEN9 alloy. However, the extruded SEN9 alloy exhibits higher tensile elongation because deformationtwinning is suppressed by the finer grains. The fatigue strength of the extruded SEN9 alloy (100 MPa) is slightlylower than that of the extruded AZ91 alloy (110 MPa). For the extruded AZ91 alloy, fatigue cracks initiate on the surfacein all specimens, whereas for the extruded SEN9 alloy, fatigue cracks initiate in an Al2Caor Al2Yparticle present on thesubsurface in some specimens, especially at low stress amplitudes. The Al2Caand Al2Yparticles are larger than the Mg17Al12precipitates, and considerably harder than the matrix. Consequently, local stress is highly concentrated in these particlesduring cyclic loading, which eventually causes premature fatigue cracking and decreased fatigue resistance.

2,2'-Biphenoxyborane (1,3,2-biphenyldioxaborepin, 1), readily available from the reaction of 2,2'-biphenol with borane in THF, reacts with alkenes readily at 25℃, or rapidly at 68℃, and with alkynes rapidly at 25℃, to give the corresponding alkyl-and alkenylbiphenoxyboranes in high yields. These hydroboration reactions proceed stereospecifically in a cis manner. A similar regioselectivity to catecholborane is realized with a greater reactivity.
Molecular and enzymatic characterization of a levan fructotransferase from Microbacterium sp. AL-210

Microbacterium sp. AL-210 producing a novel levan fructotransferase (LFTase) was screened from soil samples. The LFTase was purified to homegeneity by (NH_4)_2SO_4 fractionation, column chromatography on Resource Q, and Superdex 200HR. The molecular weight of the purified enzyme was estimated to be approximately 46 kDa by both SDS-PAGE and gel filtration, and the enzyme's isoelecric point was pH 4.8. The major product produced from the levan hydrolysis by the enzyme reaction was identified by atmospheric pressure ionization mass spectrometry and NMR analysis as di-D-fructose-2,6':6,2'-dianhydride (DFA Ⅳ). The optimum pH and temperature for DFA Ⅳ production wer 7.0 and 40℃, respectively. The enzyme was stable at a pH range 7.0-8.0 and up to 40 ℃. The enzyme activity was inhibited by FeCl_2 and AgNO_3. The enzyme converted the levan to DFA Ⅳ, with a conversion yield of approximately 44%. A gene encoding the LFTase (lftM) from Microbacterium sp. AL-210 was cloned and sequenced. The nucleotide sequence included an ORF of 1593 nucleotides, which is translated into a protein of 530 amino acid residues. The predicted amino acid sequence of the enzyme shared 79% of the identity and 86% of the homology with that of Arthrobacter nicotinovorans GS-9. ⓒ 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
