      • 한국인에서 도파민 D4 수용체 다형성과 Novelty Seeking 성격 특성의 연관성

        연구목적 : 저자들은 한국인에서 도파민 D4 수용체(DRD4) 유전자의 다형성과 성격의 관련성을 알아보고자 본 연구를 시행하였다. 방 법 : 173명의 건강한 한국인 여자 청소년(13.88±0.29세)을 대상으로 하여 성격 기질 설문지(Temperament and Character Inventory : TCI)를 작성하도록 하였으며, 이들에서 DRD4 exon Ⅲ 48-bp VNTR(variable numbers of tandem repeats) 다형성을 분석하였다. 결 과 : DRD4 exon Ⅲ Vntr에서 긴 대립유전자(≥5 repeats)를 가진 군이 긴 대립유전자를 가지지 않은군에 비하여 Novelty Seeking 척도 점수가 유의하게 높았다(t=2.11,p=0.037). 결 론 : 본 연구 결과는 DRD4-exon Ⅲ의 긴 대립유전자가 Novelty Seeking 성격과 관련이 있다는 기존의 외국에서의 연구결과를 다시금 확인해주는 것이다. Objectives : We investigated the relationship of personality traits with dopamine D4 receptor(DRD4) exon Ⅲ polymorphism in a Korean population. Methods : We analysed DRD4 exon Ⅲ 48-bp repeats polymorphism in 173 Korean heakthy female adolescents(age=13.88±0.29years) who also completed Temperament and Charater Inventory(TCI). Results : Novelty seeking score of the TCI was significantly higher in the subjects with DRD4 long alleles(≥5 repeats) compares with the subjects without these (t=2.11, p=0.037). Conclusion : The present study supports the previous reports that long repeats of the DRD4-exon Ⅲ polymorphism are relatedwith Novelty Seeking personality.

        A study on Metaverse Consumer perception survey before and after Covid-19 using CONCOR analysis on BIG Data

        Many parts of life have been changed due to the unprecedented coronavirus outbreak, and Noncontact has now become a general culture of society around the world. Also, many years later, after the Fourth Industrial Revolution, it is now deeply embedded in the human lifestyle. The purpose of this paper's research is to investigate the metaverse perception before and after Corona. It was confirmed that the number of metaverse, the central keyword, was 70971 before Corona, but 261767 after Corona, which was more than three times the frequency. In addition, it was confirmed that the number of COVID-19, the reference point of this study, increased significantly to 1,9236 during the pre-COVID-19 period. Through this, it can be inferred that the metaverse accelerated and developed significantly after the corona. Metaverse about Keywords such as cryptocurrency, cryptocurrency, coin, and exchange appeared before Corona, and the word frequency ranking for blockchain, which is an underlying technology, was high, but after Corona, the word frequency ranking fell significantly as mentioned above. As such, it was confirmed that keywords for metaverse were changing before and after Corona, and as such, Consumers' perceptions were also changing.

        Low Skeletal Muscle Mass and Clinical Outcomes in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

        Background: In patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), decreased muscle mass is a frequently encountered comorbidity in clinical practice. However, the evaluation of muscle mass in patients with COPD in real-world practice is rare.Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the electronic medical records of all patients with COPD who underwent bioelectrical impedance analysis at least once between January 2011 and December 2021 in three hospitals. Then, we analyzed the performance rate of muscle mass measurement in the patients and the correlation between muscle mass, clinical parameters, and COPD prognosis.Results: Among the 24,502 patients with COPD, only 270 (1.1%) underwent muscle mass measurements. The total skeletal muscle mass index was significantly correlated with albumin, alanine transaminase, and creatinine to cystatin C ratio in patients with COPD (r=0.1614, p=0.011; r=0.2112, p=0.001; and r=0.3671, p=0.001, respectively). Acute exacerbation of COPD (AE COPD) was significantly correlated with muscle mass, especially the truncal skeletal muscle mass index (TSMI) in males (r=–0.196, p=0.007). In the multivariate analysis, TSMI and cystatin C were significant risk factors for AE COPD (hazard ratio, 0.200 [95% confidence interval, CI, 0.048 to 0.838] and 4.990 [95% CI, 1.070 to 23.278], respectively).Conclusion: Low muscle mass negatively affects the clinical outcomes in patients with COPD. Despite its clinical significance, muscle mass measurement is performed in a small proportion of patients with COPD. Therefore, protocols and guidelines for the screening of sarcopenia in patients with COPD should be established.

        Clinical Analysis of Serial (Staged) Excision for Congenital Melanocytic Nevi: A Single-center Experience

        Background: Serial (staged) excision of congenital melanocytic nevi (CMN) is an important treatment option for medium-sized CMN. However, few studies have investigated the outcomes of serial excision in detail. Objective: We report our experience regarding serial excision of CMN, including methods to effectively reduce the procedural stages and scar length. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed medical records of patients with CMN treated between 2008 and 2015; 33 patients (7 men and 26 women) underwent serial excision. Results: The CMN were located on the face (n=11), arms (n=6), legs (n=11), and other areas of the body (n=11), including the back (n=2), chest (n=1), deltoid region (n=1), and buttocks (n=1). The mean CMN area was 19.7 cm<sup>2</sup>. The mean number of surgical stages was 2.2. The mean interval between surgeries was 10.6 months. A marginal S-shaped incision along both edges of the nevus was preferred over elliptical excision, to reduce scarring. Pulsed dye, erbium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet (YAG), neodymium-doped:YAG, and carbon dioxide fractional lasers were used to improve the final outcomes and minimize scarring. Conclusion: Serial excision is an effective treatment option associated with greater patient satisfaction, particularly for medium-sized and hairy CMN. Conventional elliptical serial excision is associated with the formation of elongated scars and sacrifices normal skin adjacent to the lesion. The marginal S-shaped incision reduces scarring by dispersing mechanical tension on the scar without skin wastage. Compared with the elliptical excision method, the marginal S-shaped incision reduces the number of surgical stages and results in a cosmetically superior scar. Performing a marginal S-shaped incision is technically challenging in certain anatomical locations, such as the eyes, nose, and mouth. Therefore, it is necessary to combine this procedure with erbium:YAG and neodymium-doped:YAG ablation. (Korean J Dermatol 2019;57(9):527∼531)

        HDAC11 Inhibits Myoblast Differentiation through Repression of MyoD-Dependent Transcription

        Abnormal differentiation of muscle is closely associated with aging (sarcopenia) and diseases such as cancer and type II diabetes. Thus, understanding the mechanisms that regulate muscle differentiation will be useful in the treatment and prevention of these conditions. Protein lysine acetylation and methylation are major post-translational modification mechanisms that regulate key cellular processes. In this study, to elucidate the relationship between myogenic differentiation and protein lysine acetylation/methylation, we performed a PCR array of enzymes related to protein lysine acetylation/methylation during C2C12 myoblast differentiation. Our results indicated that the expression pattern of HDAC11 was substantially increased during myoblast differentiation. Furthermore, ectopic expression of HDAC11 completely inhibited myoblast differentiation, concomitant with reduced expression of key myogenic transcription factors. However, the catalytically inactive mutant of HDAC11 (H142/143A) did not impede myoblast differentiation. In addition, wild-type HDAC11, but not the inactive HDAC11 mutant, suppressed MyoD-induced promoter activities of MEF2C and MYOG (Myogenin), and reduced histone acetylation near the E-boxes, the MyoD binding site, of the MEF2C and MYOG promoters. Collectively, our results indicate that HDAC11 would suppress myoblast differentiation via regulation of MyoD-dependent transcription. These findings suggest that HDAC11 is a novel critical target for controlling myoblast differentiation.

        감성돔, Acanthopagrus schlegeli 의 담수순화 과정에서 나타나는 생리학적 반응

        해산어류의 담수순화 양식을 위한 기초 자료를 얻고자, 단계적인 염분변화의 방법을 이용하여 감성돔을 해수에서 담수로 순화시켰을 때 여러 생리학적 반응을 조사하였다. Cortisol 농도는 실험개시시에 13.0±14.8ng/㎖로 유의하게 증가하였지만 실험개시 10일째에 19.7±1.6ng/㎖로 실험개시시 수준으로 회복되었다. Glucose 농도는 cortisol과 동반 상승하는 경향이 나타났다. Na^(+) 및 Cl^(-)는 실험개시시에 각각 176.7±3.8mEq/L, 152.7±1.5mEq/L였던 것이 실험개시 5일째 111.8±38.0mEq/L, 73.5±26.5mEq/L로 유의하게 감소하였으나, 실험종료시에는 실험개시시 수준으로 회복되었다. 삼투질 농도 또한 이와 비슷한 경향을 나타내었다. AST는 실험개시 후 12시간째에 증가하였지만 그 이후 실험개시시 수준으로 감소하였다. Het, RBC 및 Hb는 실험기간동안 유의한 변화가 관찰되지 않았다. 생존율을 실험구에서 실험개시 4일째에 90%로 감소하기 시작하여 실험개시 5일째에는 86.7%, 실험개시 20일째에는 83.3%로 하락하였으나, 대조구에서는 실험종료시인 20일째에 96.7%의 생존율을 보였다. 이상의 결과로 종합해 볼 때 본 연구는 단계적인 염분변화를 통한 감성돔 담수순화 양식의 가능성이 있을을 알 수 있었다. Physiological responses (cortisol, glucose, Na^(+), Cl^(-), osmolality, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), hematological factors, and survival rate) were investigated during freshwater acclimation of seawater-cultured black porgy (Acanthopagrus schlegeli). As control, in seawater, there were no significant differences in the investigated items during the experimental period. In step-salinity change, plasma cortisol level was significantly increased from 13.02 1.4 ng/mL at the beginning to 29.52 14.8 ng/mL at 5 days, and recovered to the basal level (19.7±1.6 ng/mL) at 10 days. Glucose showed a tendency to co-increase with cortisol. Plasma Na^(+) and C1^(-) concentrations decreased from 176.7±3.8 and 152.7±1.5 mEq/L to 111.8f38.0 and 73.5k26.5 mEq/L, respectively, at 5 days. But these recovered as completely as the basal levels at the end of the experiment (20 days). Also, changes of osmolality levels showed a similar tendency with Na^(+) and C1^(-) levels. Although AST was markedly elevated at 12 hours, its level soon recovered to the basal level. No significant differences in Hct, RBC and Hb were found during the experimental period. Survival rate was 86.7% at 5 days and 83.3% at 20 days. The results presented in this paper suggest that it may be possible to culture black porgy in freshwater.

      • Reduced P300 amplitude during a visuospatial attention task in idiopathic rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P><B>Objectives</B></P> <P>Idiopathic rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (IRBD) patients are prone to cognitive deficits, which include attention, executive, and visuospatial dysfunctions. Even patients with normal cognition may exhibit subclinical electrophysiological dysfunction. This study aimed to evaluate visuospatial attention processing in IRBD patients with normal cognition and to compare their findings with those of age- and sex-matched healthy controls.</P> <P><B>Methods</B></P> <P>We recorded event-related potentials (ERPs) and performance measures during a variant of the Posner task in 14 IRBD patients and 14 control subjects. Behavioral data and the mean P300 amplitude were compared between groups.</P> <P><B>Results</B></P> <P>No group difference was found for reaction time or accuracy, but a significant group effect was observed for the P300 amplitude. IRBD patients had reduced P300 amplitude (μV) than controls in both valid (IRBD: 0.53 ± 1.05 vs Controls: 1.61 ± 0.95; p = 0.008) and invalid (IRBD: 0.74 ± 0.99 vs Controls: 1.73 ± 0.86; p = 0.009) conditions. The P300 amplitude was correlated with Montreal cognitive assessment (MOCA) scores (r = 0.424, p = 0.024).</P> <P><B>Conclusion</B></P> <P>Reduced P300 amplitude during the Posner task provides electrophysiological evidence for subclinical visuospatial attention deficits in cognitively normal IRBD patients. The results of this study imply that cortical dysfunction is already present in patients with IRBD in their early disease stage.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> IRBD with normal cognition had reduced P300 amplitude during Posner task. </LI> <LI> Reduced P300 in IRBD was independent of age, sex, depression, and autonomic function. </LI> <LI> The P300 amplitude correlated with MOCA scores. </LI> <LI> Cortical dysfunction may be present in early stage of IRBD. </LI> </UL> </P>
