The purpose of this study is to confirm the possibility of obtaining high grade coal from 57.39% of fixed carbon fine coal. Also, the mineralogical, physical/chemical and liberation characteristics are to be identified to decrease in ash amount, during the pre-processing of clean coal technology. In this study, batch flotation and CPT column flotation proper for the processing of fine particles were used with the variation in kinds and quantity of frother, collector and depressant. Also air flow rate and feeding rates were examined. As a result of batch flotation using 20% of pulp density DMU 101 collector(100 mL/ton), AF65 frother(300 mL/ton), sodium metaphosphate depressant (1 kg/ton), 67.57% of ash rejection and 70.90% of combustible recovery were obtained. The result of CPT column flotation was 85.59% of ash rejection and 88.97% of combustible recovery under the conditions of 5% of pulp density, DMU-101 collector (100 mL/ton), AF65 frother(10 L/ton), SMP depressant(1 kg/ton), wash water(100 mL/min.) and air flow rate(1,200 mL/min.). 본 연구는 고정탄소 57.39%의 미립 석탄으로부터 고품위 석탄 생산의 가능성을 확인하고자 하여 광물학적, 물리화학적 방법과 단체분리도의 특성을 파악하여 청정 석탄 기술의 처리과정에서 회분을 감소시키는데 목적이 있다. 본 연구에서 일반부선과 미립자 처리에 적합한 column 부선기의 최신형인 CPT column 부선을 적용하여 기포제, 포수제, 억제제의 종류와 첨가량의 변화, 공기주입량, 급광량 그리고 광액농도에 따른 영향을 확인하였다. 먼저 광액농도 20%, 포수제 DMU-101 (100 mL/ton), 기포제 AF65(300 mL/ton), 억제제 sodium metaphosphate(1 kg/ton)의 실험조건으로 일반부선을 실시한 결과, 회분제거율과 가연분회수율(combustible recovery)을 각각 67.57%와 70.90%를 얻었으며, 광액농도 3%, 포수제 DMU-101(100mL/ton), 기포제 AF65(10 L/ton), 억제제 sodium metaphosphate(1 kg/ton), 세척수(100 mL/min.)와 공기주입량(1,200 mL/min.)인 조건에서 CPT column 부선을 실시한 결과 회분제거율과 가연분회수율이 각각 85.59%와 88.97%인 결과를 얻었다.
Conversion of Coal Fly Ash into Zeolite and Heavy Metal Removal Characteristics of the Products

Fly ash obtained from a power generation plant was used for synthesizing zeolite. Zeolites could be readily synthesized from the glassy combustion residues and showed potential for the removal of heavy metal ions. By the use of different temperatures and NaOH concentration, five different zeolites were obtained: Na-P1, faujasite, hydroxy sodalite, analcime, and cancrinite. The synthesized zeolites had greater adsorption capabilities for heavy metals than the original fly ash and natural zeolites. Na-P1 exhibited the highest adsorption capacity with a maximum value of about 1.29 mmole Pb g^(-1) and had a strong affinity for Pb^(2+) ion. The metal ion selectivity of Na-P1 was determined as: Pb^(2+)>Cu^(2+)>Cd^(2+)>Zn^(2+), consistent with the decreasing order of the radius of hydrated metal ion. The adsorption isotherm for lead by Na-P1 fitted the Freundlich rather than the Langmuir isotherm.

In order to search new inhibitors against farnesyl protein transferase (FPTase), a series of 2,3-bis-benzylidenesuccinaldehyde derivatives (1-29) were synthesized and their inhibition activities (pI50) against FPTase were measured. From based on the reported results that the inhibitory activities of dimers 2,3-bis-benzylidenesuccinaldehydes were higher than those of monomers cinnamaldehydes, 3D-QSARs on FPTase inhibitory activities of the dimers (1-29)were studied quantitatively using comparative molecular field analysis (CoMFA) and comparative molecular similarity indices analysis (CoMSIA) methods. The statistical qualities of the optimized CoMFA model II (r2cv .= 0.693 and r2ncv .= 0.974) was higher than those of the CoMSIA model II (r2cv. = 0.484 and r2ncv. = 0.928). The dependence of CoMFA models on chance correlations was evaluated with progressive scrambling analyses. And the inhibitory activity exhibited a strong correlation with steric factors of the substrate molecules. Therefore, from the results of graphical analyses on the contour maps and of predicted higher inhibitory active compounds, it is suggested that the structural distinctions and descriptors that contribute to inhibitory activities (pI50) against FPTase will be able to applied new inhibitor design.
