In order to elucidate the roles of insulin, IGF-Ⅰ and Ⅱ during amelogenesis, the effects of these factors on the translational activity of amelogenin, the predominant matrix protein in developing enamel, were examined in mouse embryonic molars maintained in vitro. Mouse mandibular first molars isolated from embryos on embryonic day 15 were cultured as an explant for 6, 12 and 18 days in serumless, chemically defined medium containing 1000ng/ml of insulin, 100ng/ml of IGF-Ⅰ or 100ng/ml of IGF-Ⅱ. The translational activity of amelogenin was measured by incorporation of [^35S]-methionine, immunoprecipitation with a specific amelogenin antibody followed by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis in combination with fluorography. IGF-Ⅰ and IGF-Ⅱ induced 55% and 104% increases in the translational activity of amelogenin respectively at 6 days in culture. This effect was lost after 12 and 18 days in culture. Insulin did not produce any significant differences in the translational activity of amelogenin. These data suggested that IGF-Ⅰ and Ⅱ accelerated amelogenesis by inducing an increase in amelogenin translation in the mouse mandibular first molar in vitro.
Machine-learning-based Mechanical Properties Prediction in Foundry Production

Ultimate tensile strength(UTS) is the force a material can resist untilit breaks. The only way to examine this mechanical property is the employment of destructive in spections with the subsequent cost increment. Modelling the foundry processas an expert knowledge cloud allows properly-trained machine-learning algorithms to foresee the value of UTS. Extending previous research that presented out standing results with a Bay esian-network-based approach, we have adapted an ANN and K-nearest-neighbour algorithm for the same objective. We compare the obtained results and show that artificial neural networks are more suitable than the rest of counter parts for the prediction of UTS.
Tangramrine : A Novel Graphical Recognition and Cued-recall based Password System

Graphical passwords are an authentication user model that consists of the recall of pictures or graphics signs to gain access to a system. They have been proved to be a se-cure and reliable alternative to textual passwords; by giving a more robust schema against brute force and shoulder-surfing attacks. In this research paper we present an alternative to a graphical password based on a modification of the Tangram game. We believe our proposal accomplishes the features of being an easy recognition-based system password giving the user enough security against common threats such as brute force attacks by dictionary means or OCR types, as well as shoulder-surfing attacks.

Objectives: Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most prevalent and disabling joint disease in the world. Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) exercise is a widely used treatment and could be a beneficial and long-term tool for treating TMJ OA. The present study aims to evaluate the effects of therapeutic exercise in the conservative treatment of TMJ OA. Materials and Methods: A single-group experimental pre-post test was performed. We included patients who met the diagnostic criteria for TMJ OA. Outcome variables were pain intensity (visual analogue scale), functionality (Helkimo index), and structural changes (ultrasound). Follow-up peri-ods were at months 1, 3, and 6. The intervention included a home-based program with thermotherapy, manual therapy, and therapeutic exercise during the entire follow-up period. Results: We included 15 patients and 26 joints, all women with a median age of 57 years (range, 49-62 years). Median change in pain intensity on joint palpation, mouth opening, and at rest at the first month was 47.5 mm, 51 mm, and 60 mm, respectively, and 48 mm, 49.5 mm, and 42.5 mm, at six months (P=0.001). The Helkimo index showed significant improvement in medians from baseline severe dysfunction (17 points) to minimal dys-function at three and six months (2 points) (P=0.001). Ultrasound showed improved disc position. Conclusion: This study demonstrated significant improvements in pain, function, and joint disc position and represents a valuable tool for the long-term treatment of patients with TMJ OA.
Dispersion of carbon nanotubes in aluminum improves radiation resistance

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We can mass-produce metal/carbon nanotube (CNT) composites that show improved radiation tolerance. The 0.5wt% Al+CNT composite showed improved tensile strength without reduction of tensile ductility before radiation, and reduced void/pore generation and radiation embrittlement at high displacements per atom (DPA). Under helium ion irradiation up to 72DPA, the 1D carbon nanostructures survive, while sp<SUP>2</SUP> bonded graphene transforms to sp<SUP>3</SUP> tetrahedral amorphous carbon. Self-ion (Al) irradiation converts CNTs to a metastable form of Al<SUB>4</SUB>C<SUB>3</SUB>, but still as slender 1D nanorods with prolific internal interfaces that catalyze recombination of radiation defects, reducing radiation hardening and porosity generation.
