Experimental studies were conducted on a l/5.03 scale reactor flow model of the Yong-gwang Nuclear Units 3 and 4. The purpose of the flow model test was to estimate the hydraulic effect in the reactor vessel due to the relative size difference between the ABB-CE's System 80 and the YGN 3&4 reactors. The flow model was designed according to the principle of similarity. Obtained from the test were the core inlet flow distribution, the core exit pressure deviations, and the segmental and overall pressure losses across the flow path from the reactor vessel inlet to outlet nozzle. These data will be used to provide input data for the core thermal margin analysis and to verify the analytical hydraulic design method.

The Korean Peninsula, located at the southeastern tip of the Eurasian Plate, is known to be tectonically stable, and no critical evidence has yet been found that would override the safety design of nuclear facilities in South Korea. Because a nuclear power plant, like other major social overhead capital facilities, could cause great damage to both the environment and society through an unexpected tectonic event, even one of extremely low probability, like the Fukushima accident, a defense-in-depth safety approach is required in geological and geotechnical site safety evaluation for nuclear projects. This paper introduces the regulatory procedures that are in place to confirm nuclear site safety and site monitoring (e.g., earthquakes and groundwater) systems applied to nuclear facilities in order to reduce inherent uncertainties within the site safety review of geological and seismological issues related with a NPP project.
자궁적출술 후 한의약 치료에 대한 국내 임상 연구 고찰

Objectives: The purpose of this review is to analyze the domestic study trends on complications of post-hysterectomy treated with Korean medicine. Methods: We investigated the studies on Korean medicine treatment for complications of post-hysterectomy via searching 4 online databases up to October 2020. After searching studies, we analyzed selected studies. Results: 12 clinical studies were selected and all studies were case reports. The most common cause of hysterectomy was myoma of uterine, followd by adenomyosis. The major complaints of post-hysterectomy were abdominal pain, low back pain and fatigue, general weakness. Herbal medicine was used in all studies. In addition, acupuncture, moxibustion and cupping were performed. The duration of inpatient treatment ranged from 5 to 39 days. All cases showed that chief complaints and accompanying symptoms were improved. Conclusions: Korean medicine treatment is an effective treatment option for complications of post-hysterectomy. Further large, well-designed studies are needed to establish the foundation of Korean medicine treatment after hysterectomy.

In this animal study, comedones were induced by topical application of oleic acid onto the rabbit ear canal and the histopathologic and ultrastructural changes in response to topical application of HO and hexane extracts of red ginseng, and saponin were measured. No microscopical difference was observed between treatment groups. Nucle ir remnants were observed in the horny cell layer as well as the thinning of the granular cell layer. Scattered and decreased keratohyaline granules were also noted. Six weeks after initiation of treatment, we observed the thinning of epidermis and veappearance of granular cell layer with normal keratohyaline granules. After treatment, scanning electron microscopy showed a decrease in the size of comedones, and loosened and desquamating horny cells in the comedones. From the above results, it could be concluded that Panax ginseng extracts might have effects on the keratinization process of the skin. (Kor J Dermatol 28(4): 434 440, 1990)
국민건강영양조사 대상자들의 민간의료보험 가입 요인 및 가입여부에 따른 건강행태·의료이용 비교

본 연구는 우리나라의 민간의료보험 가입자의 인구·사회·경제학적 특성과 가입자와 미가입자간의 질병 유형, 예방 및 건강행태, 의료이용 양상 등을 비교하였다. 그리고 민간보험 가입의 영향을 파악하여 향후 국민건강보험 및 민간의료보험 관련제도의 바람직한 발전방향을 제시하기 위한 기초자료 활용에 그 목적이 있다. 연구의 결과는 민간의료보험 가입 요인은 인구?사회?경제적 요인이 유의하게 나타났으며, 국민건강 영양조사에서 이루어진 인플루엔자 예방접종율과 건강보험 건강검진은 민간의료보험 가입자에게서 더 낮았고, 지난 2년간 본인부담 건강검진비율과 지난 2년간 암검진비율은 민간의료보험 가입자의 검진율이 더 높았다. 그리고 건강행위 평균을 민간의료보험 가입여부별로 보면, 격렬한 신체활동을 실천하는 비율은 민간의료보험 가입자가 더 높았고, 평균 수면시간, 1주일간 격렬한 신체활동을 하는 일수, 1주일간 중등도 신체활동을 하는 일수, 1주일간 유연성 운동일수 및 1주일간 근력운동일수에서도 민간의료보험 가입자가 미가입자 보다 많았다. 걷기를 실천하는 비율과 1주일간 걷기일수는 민간의료보험 가입자가 미가입자보다 적었다. 의료이용에 민간의료보험이 어떤 영향을 미치고 있는가를 살펴본 결과에서는 외래이용이 있는 경우와 입원이용횟수에서 민간의료보험가입자가 미가입자보다 외래를 이용할 확률이 높았고, 더 많은 횟수의 입원이 관련 요인으로 나타났다. This study firstly examined the socioeconomic and health factors associated with infiltration of private health insurance. Secondly, we compared health behavior, outpatient and inpatient use of private health insured with uninsured. The method of this study is that secondary analysis of the 2008 Korea National Health and Nutrition Survey was conducted for 7178 respondents aged 19 over. We use the logistic regression and t-test for data analysis. The first dependent variable was dichotomy which is divided to private health insured or uninsured and the second dependent variable was the presence and frequency of outpatient and inpatient use. The descriptive variables was gender, age, marital status, income, education, occupation, type of national health insurance, residential area, self confidence of health, prevalence rate of common disease, activity limitation, drinking and smoking status. The result of the major findings are as follows. First, 59 under aged person, married person, people in the higher brackets of income, national employee insured were more likely to infiltrate private health insurance. The poor self confidence of health, activity limitation, person with hypertension or allergic rhinitis and smoker were negatively related in infiltrating private health insurance. Second, private health insured did more preventive behavior such as self-paid health examination, cancer screening, regular exercise than uninsured. Third, private health insured was positively related with the presence of outpatient use and frequency of inpatient use.

<▼1><P><B>Summary</B></P><P>Multi-subunit SMC complexes control chromosome superstructure and promote chromosome disjunction, conceivably by actively translocating along DNA double helices. SMC subunits comprise an ABC ATPase “head” and a “hinge” dimerization domain connected by a 49 nm coiled-coil “arm.” The heads undergo ATP-dependent engagement and disengagement to drive SMC action on the chromosome. Here, we elucidate the architecture of prokaryotic Smc dimers by high-throughput cysteine cross-linking and crystallography. Co-alignment of the Smc arms tightly closes the interarm space and misaligns the Smc head domains at the end of the rod by close apposition of their ABC signature motifs. Sandwiching of ATP molecules between Smc heads requires them to substantially tilt and translate relative to each other, thereby opening up the Smc arms.
