        Watershed Algorithm Based Image Segmentation Using Moment Preserving Bilevel Thresholding and Extended-Maxima Transform for Kernels

        Watershed Transformation is a popular segmentation method coming from the field of mathematical morphology. Different kernels such as rice, wheat, and corn are over-segmented by the traditional watershed algorithm. Therefore, this paper proposes an improved watershed segmentation algorithm by automatic selection of threshold value using moment preserving bilevel thresholding for extended maxima transform. At first, the distance transformed image is processed by moment preserving bilevel thresholding for the automatic selection of threshold value. Then the selected threshold value is used for extended maxima transform and watershed transformation is carried out. Then watershed ridge lines are superimposed on the original binary image. Experimental results show that this process solves the problem of over-segmentation to a greater extent.

      • A study on secure multi-home roaming in residential networks with IPSec

        Residential network is the integrated technology of wireless, Ethernet, Bluetooth and RF to the internet via broadband connection at home. For ubiquitous development more devices will be wireless rather than wired and hence most of them will be roaming. The communication between these roaming devices must be secure since they carry private information of daily life of residential users. Hence this paper focuses on secure multi-home roaming in residential networks using IP Security (IPSec) Protocol Suite.

        Background: Microbial biofilms pose great threat for patients requiring indwelling medical devices (IMDs) as it is difficult to eradicate them. Besides, sublethal concentration of some antibiotics has been shown to induce biofilm in bacteria. It is, therefore, crucial to follow an appropriate and relevant method for the detection of biofi lms and hence the clinician can choose appropriate antibiotic for the treatment. Methods: This prospective analysis included 65 prosthetic samples. After isolation and identifi cation of bacteria following standard methodology, antibiogram of the isolates were produced following Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method. Detection of biofi lms was done by tube adherence (TA), Congo red agar and tissue culture plate (TCP) methods. Results: Out of 67 clinical isolates from indwelling medical devices, TCP detected 31 (46.3%) biofi lm producers and 36 (53.7%) biofi lm non-producers. Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Burkholderia cepacia complex were found to be the most frequent biofi lm producers. The TA method correlated well with the TCP method for biofi lm detection. Higher antibiotic resistance was observed in biofi lm producers than in biofi lm non-producers. The most effective antibiotics for biofi lm producing Gram-positive isolates were Vancomycin and Tigecycline, and that for biofi lm producing Gram-negative isolates were Polymyxin B, Colistin Sulphate and Tigecycline. Conclusions: Nearly forty-six percent of the isolates were found to be biofi lm producers. The antibiotic susceptibility pattern in the present study showed Amoxicillin to be an ineffective drug for isolates from the IMDs. For the detection of biofi lm production, TA method can be an economical and effective alternative to TCP method.

        Analysis of QoS Assurance with PCF and Queuing Disciplines in Home Network

        일상생활을 편하고 재미있고 안전하게 만들기 위해 홈 네트워크가 수집과 전기적인 많은 장치를 연결한다. 이더넷과 거주 게이트웨이의 단 하나의 함께 나눠 진 광대역 커넥션에 대한 무선 기술의 수렴은 집 네트워크의 주요 특징이다. 이런 종류의 다종다양한 네트워크는 다른 QoS 장치를 실행할 필요성을 인식했다. 이 논문에서는 기본적으로 IP QoS을 통합하고 홈 네트워크에서 QoS단언을 위한 QoS 장치의 타전을 한다. 이 논문에는 PCF와의 결합 지 연 시간과 사용자 요청의 알고리즘을 결합 비교하고 사용자 조합과 PCF의 결합 실행이 가장 좋다는 것을 결론을 짓는다. A home network is a collection and connection of many electronic and electrical devices in home in order to make daily life comfortable, entertaining and safe. The convergence of Ethernet and wireless technology to a single shared broadband connection in residential gateway is the key feature of the home network. This kind of heterogeneous network has realized the need to implement different QoS mechanisms. Basically, in this paper we propose to integrate IP QoS and Wireless QoS mechanisms for QoS assurance in home network. This paper compares the combination of PCF with two queuing algorithms Low Latency Queuing (LLQ) and Custom Queuing (CQ) and concludes that the combination of CQ and PCF performs best for home network.

        Analysis of Secure Remote Access to Virtual Private Home Network with L2TP Tunneling methods

        홈 네트워크는 전자적이고 전기적인 집의 여러 장치와 여러 이더넷과 같은 기술인 무선네트워크, 전화선, 파워라인의 통합인 인터넷과 연결된 게이트웨이와 통신을 한다. 이런 홈 네트워크는 인터넷에 기초를 두며 인터넷을 통해 모든 사람이 홈 네트워크에 접근을 할 수 있다. 홈 네트워크는 주거인이 편하고 안전한 삶을 위해 발전하며, 정보는 보안을 필요로 한다. 그러므로 홈 네트워크의 모든 리모트 접근은 믿을 수 있어야 한다. 이 논문은 홈 네트워크에 안전한 리모트 접근인 VPN에 기초를 둔 계획적이고 필수적인 두 가지 터널링 보안 방법인 L2TP을 분석 하였다. Home network is the connection and communication of several electronic and electrical devices at hone with the integration of several technologies like Ethernet, wireless, phone line and power-line at the residential gateway to the internet. This internet based home network can be accessed from any part of the world through any device by any poison via internet. Since home network is developed for comfortable and safe life of home users, the information flow to/from home network needs to be private. Hence the remote access of the home network must be secured. This paper analyses two secure tunneling methods, voluntary and compulsory for L2TP(Layer Two Tunneling Protocol) based VPN(Virtual Private Network) for secure remote access of the home network.
