<P>We conducted a numerical study on the excitation of a two-colored temporal soliton in a segmented quasi-phase-matching (QPM) structure. The device has three parts: a periodic QPM grating for second-harmonic generation, a single domain for phase shift, and a periodic QPM grating for soliton evolution. The second harmonic pulse generated in the first grating works as a seed in the cascaded up-and-down conversions in the second grating. The numerical results showed that the second harmonic seeding enables the excitation of soliton pulses with an improved spatio-temporal intensity profile in a broad bandwidth of the wave-vector mismatch.</P>

The detection of sentinel lymph nodes in laparoscopic surgery for uterine cervical cancer using 99m-technetium-tin colloid, indocyanine green, and blue dye

Objective: Our objective was to determine the feasibility and detection rates and clarify the most effective combination of injected tracer types for sentinel lymph node (SLN) mapping in uterine cervical cancer in patients who have undergone laparoscopic surgery or neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). Methods: A total of 119 patients with cervical cancer underwent SLN biopsy at radical hysterectomy using three types of tracers. The various factors related to side-specific detection rate, sensitivity, and false negative (FN) rate were analyzed. Results: The SLN detection rates using 99m-technetium (99mTc)-tin colloid, indigo carmine, and indocyanine green (ICG) were 85.8%, 20.2%, and 61.6%, respectively. The patients with ≥2-cm-diameter tumors and those who received NAC had lower detection rates than those with <2-cm-diameter tumors (75.7% vs. 91.5%, p<0.01) and those who did not receive NAC (67.9% vs. 86.3%, p<0.01), respectively. Laparoscopic procedures had a higher detection rate than laparotomy (100.0% vs. 77.1%, p<0.01). No factors significantly affected the sensitivity; however, the patients with ≥2-cm-diameter tumors (86.0% vs. 1.4%, p<0.01), NAC (19.4% vs. 2.2%, p<0.01), and those who underwent laparotomy (7.4% vs. 0%, p<0.01) had an unfavorable FN rate. Conclusion: Among the examined tracers, 99mTc had the highest detection of SLN mapping in patients with uterine cervical cancer. Patients with local advanced cervical cancer with/without NAC treatment might be unsuited for SLN mapping. SLN mapping is feasible and results in an excellent detection rate in patients with <2-cm-diameter cervical cancer. Laparoscopic surgery is the best procedure for SLN detection in patients with early-stage disease.

커피전문점의 평가속성이 고객만족 및 재방문의도에 미치는 영향 -중국 프랜차이즈 및 독립 커피전문점을 중심으로-

최근 중국에서 커피문화에 대한 선호도가 높아짐에 따라 커피전문점이 점점 많아지고 있다. 커피전문점은 단지 커피를 마시는 곳이 아니고 지인과의 친목을 도모하는 곳으로 인식하는 문화공간이라고 여겨지고 있기 때문에 고객 서비스의 중요성을 인식한 기업의 입장에서 서비스 품질을 향상시키기 위한 노력을 기울이고 있다. 기업들이 커피의 품질을 향상해야 할 뿐만 아니라, 다양한 메뉴를 준비하고 영업시간을 효과적으로 운영하여야 하는 상황에 놓이고 있다. 점포의 편의시설을 추가하고 쾌적한 분위기를 형상하는 등의 고객만족을 높이고자 하는 투자를 확인할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 소비자들이 커피전문점을 방문할 때 점포환경, 판매원 그리고 제품품질이 고객만족에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 연구하고자 한다. 또한 프랜차이즈와 독립 커피전문점의 평가 속성 중에 어떤 요인이 고객만족에 더 영향을 미치는지를 분석하고자 한다. 또한 커피전문점에 대한 고객만족이 재방문의도에 영향을 미치는지를 분석한다. 분석 결과에 의하면, 커피전문점 판매원의 전문적인 지식 또는 언행이 고객만족에 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었으며, 차이 분석에서 독립 커피전문점 판매원요인 중에 전문성이 고객만족에 영향이 더 크다고 나타났으며 프랜차이즈 커피전문점 경우, 판매원의 고객지향성이 고객만족에 미치는 영향이 있다고 나타났다. 또한 점포요인에 대해 입지, 분위기, 시설 등 물리적 환경을 잘 갖추는 것은 고객의 만족도에 영향을 미친것으로 나타났다. 고객만족 제고에 있어서 제품품질도 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 커피 맛, 커피 향기 그리고 메뉴다양성이 고객만족에 유의한 영향이 있다고 나타났다. 특히 독립 커피전문점의 커피 맛, 커피 향기가 프랜차이즈 커피전문점보다 고객만족에 더 영향을 미친다고 나타났다. As the number of both well-known established coffee shop brands and independently owned coffee shops has increased in China, both franchise brands and independently owned shops have faced increased competition and fundamental change in the business environment. Such change includes an increased need to brand and market coffee shops, effort to improve competence of a service provider, and recognition of the need to improve in the coffee product quality. The research model in this study includes the hypothetical paths between three store factors: store image, service level of service provider and coffee product quality; customer satisfaction and customer intention to revisit. In addition to the above hypothetical paths, we considered the moderating effect of store types (franchise brands vs independently owned coffee shops). In the survey results collected from 252 of Chinese respondents, all hypotheses are accepted but the significances effect of integrity and favorable impression of service provider on customer satisfaction is not found. The moderating effect of how the menu variance impacts customer satisfaction between franchise brand and independently owned coffee shop was also not identified.

We investigated the group velocity matched second harmonic generarion in periodically poled potassium niobate. The QPM wavelength bandwidth was 38 nm around 1520 nm at 35℃ in 14.4㎛ QPM period with 10.5 mm interaction length. We also observed ultra-fast pulse used type-ⅠSHG conversion efficiency. The SHG conversion efficiency of the PPKN crystal was about 3 times that of type-Ⅰ SHG in PPMgLN.

과학기술분야 업무는 빠른 변화 속도와 높은 혁신 빈도 및 난이도로 인해 업무강도가 강하고 장시간 근무와 높은 스트레스를 겪는 직무 특성을 가지며 퇴직률도 높은 것으로 알려져 있다. 여성과학기술인은 다른 직업군의 여성들과 마찬가지로 일․가정 갈등이 나 육아 등을 이유로 경력단절을 경험하는 보편성을 갖는 동시에, 한번 경력을 단절하면 복귀가 어렵다는 특수성(L자형 경력곡선)을 갖고 있어 인적자본 투자의 손실 또한 큰 분 야이다. 이러한 중요성을 갖는 여성과학기술인의 일 가정 양립에 있어 진성 리더십의 역할을 실증분석한 결과 비교적 위계적인 사회질서, 상사에 대한 존중 문화를 가진 한국 기업과 조직의 입장에서 리더의 역할이 중요하다. 단기업적에 의해 자신의 성과가 평가 되고 직업적 성패가 갈리는 입장에서는 장기적 관점의 관리가 필요한 일‧가정 양립은 일상 경영활동에서 쉽게 실행하기 어렵다. 따라서 최고경영자나 오너 등 최상위 리더가 먼 저 문제점을 인지하고 개선의 필요성에 공감해야 할 것이며 직속상사가 진정성 있는 리더십을 발휘해야 한다. General labor market inflexibility, lack of company policies and industry specific characteristics further limit mid-career reentry, resulting in an L-shaped career curve. Women who later choose to reenter the workforce often return to positions outside of science, engineering and technology (SET) industries at lower wages. Reconciliation of work and family life requires leadership and commitment from CEOs and company owners. Such findings were also supported in field research and interviews with HR managers and women scientists. Currently, the hierarchical structure of company and society cultivates organizational cultures based on respect with performance tied to an individual employees relationship with their supervisor. Emphasis on short-term performance positions work-life balance in a conflict with company goals. Fundamental change is required at the CEO and company leader level to institute a culture that reconciles Korean style working culture with work-life balance priorities. Reward systems and corporate values need to prioritize and value the importance of communication between levels for individual employee satisfaction.

<B>Abstract</B><P>The current trends in stimulated Brillouin scattering and optical phase conjugation are overviewed. This report is formed by the selected papers presented in the “Fifth International Workshop on stimulated Brillouin scattering and phase conjugation 2010” in Japan. The nonlinear properties of phase conjugation based on stimulated Brillouin scattering and photo-refraction can compensate phase distortions in the high power laser systems, and they will also open up potentially novel laser technologies, e.g., phase stabilization, beam combination, pulse compression, ultrafast pulse shaping, and arbitrary waveform generation.</P>
