A novel nanofabrication process has been developed using two-photon crosslinking (TPC) for the fabrication of threedimensional (3D) SiCN ceramic microstructures applicable to high functional 3D devices, which can be used in harsh working environments requiring a high temperature, a resistance to chemical corrosion, as well as tribological properties. After sequential processes: TPC and pyrolysis, 3D ceramic microstructures are obtained. However, large shrinkage due to low-ceramic yield during the pyrolysis is a serious problem to be solved in the precise fabrication of 3D ceramic microstructures. In this work, silica nanoparticles were employed as a filler to reduce the amount of shrinkage. In particular, the ceramic microstructures containing 40 wt% silica nanoparticles exhibited relatively isotropic shrinkage owing to its sliding free from the substrate during pyrolysis.
Novel store–carry–forward scheme for message dissemination in vehicular ad-hoc networks
Truc D.T. Nguyen,Thanh-Van Le,Hoang-Anh Pham 한국통신학회 2017 ICT Express Vol.3 No.4
To improve traffic safety in intelligent transportation systems, vehicles formed by vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs) conventionally disseminate warning messages to their nearby vehicles as soon as a dangerous situation occurs. In this paper, we propose a novel scheme employing a novel story–carry–forward (SCF) mechanism to tackle the network partition and broadcast storm problems, which are two major challenges in VANETs. The experimental result in the Veins simulation framework shows that the proposed SCF scheme significantly mitigates broadcast storms relative to other schemes, and maintains good coverage across various traffic densities.
Adaptive Video Streaming over HTTP with Dynamic Resource Estimation
Truong Cong Thang,Hung T. Le,Hoc X. Nguyen,Anh T. Pham,강정원,노용만 한국통신학회 2013 Journal of communications and networks Vol.15 No.6
Adaptive hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) streaminghas become a new trend to support adaptivity in video delivery. AnHTTP streaming client needs to estimate exactly resource availabilityand resource demand. In this paper, we focus on themost importantresource which is bandwidth. A new and general formulationfor throughput estimation is presented taking into account previousvalues of instant throughput and round trip time. Besides, weintroduce for the first time the use of bitrate estimation in HTTPstreaming. The experiments show that our approach can effectivelycope with drastic changes in connection throughput and video bitrate.
The Effectiveness of Macroprudential Policy on Credit Growth at Bank-Level Data in Vietnam
Hau Trung NGUYEN,Anh Thi Hoang PHAM,Thuy T. DANG 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.8
The study investigates the effectiveness of the macroprudential policy on credit growth in Vietnam. The authors use the logic of the transmission mechanism of macroprudential policy on credit growth. Research variables include economic growth, inflation, interest rate, and quarterly bank-level data from 28 commercial banks in Vietnam during 2011–2018. The results reveal that: (i) GDP growth had a positive impact on credit growth of small banks but had no impact on large banks, (ii) Domestic Systemically Important Banks (D-SIBs) and small banks respond differently to macroprudential measures of imposing different credit growth targets for different bank groups, (iii) Restrictions on foreign currency loans are found to be effective in curbing credit growth for the full sample and small banks, (iv) Inflation and economic cycle have significantly impacted credit growth at bank-level in Vietnam and (v) Interestingly, a significant positive relationship between interest rates and credit growth is found for the full sample and D-SIBs in Vietnam. The findings suggest that a stable macroeconomic environment should be good conditions for financial stability, and monetary authority should pay more attention to small banks’ behaviors than D-SIBs behavior, toward such “administration” tools since small banks tend to prefer “breaking the rules” to make profits.
A Metadata-enabled Approach for Scalable Video Streaming in Heterogeneous Networks
Thang, Truong Cong,Le, Hung T.,Nguyen, Duc V.,Pham, Anh T. Korea Multimedia Society 2015 The journal of multimedia information system Vol.2 No.1
In today's pervasive computing environments, multimedia content should be adapted to meet various conditions of network connections, terminals, and user characteristics. Scalable Video Coding (SVC) is a key solution for video communication over heterogeneous networks, where user terminals have different capabilities. This paper presents a standard-compliant approach that adapts an SVC bitstream to support multiple users. The adaptation problem is formulated as an optimization problem, focusing on the tradeoff between qualities of different spatial layers of an SVC video. Then the adaptation process is represented by standard metadata of MPEG-21, which can be solved by universal processing to enable interoperable and automatic operation. Our approach provides the users with optimal quality, a wide flexibility, and seamless adaptation. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study that shows the adaptation tradeoff between spatial layers of a conforming SVC bitstream.
