Streptococcus thermophilus, Lactobacillus delbrueckii, Lactobacillus fermentum and Lactobacillus casei were successfully isolated from indigenous Indonesian fresh milk based on the general morphological and biochemical classification as described in Bergey's manual. Verification was conducted by sequencing of 16S rRNA after selection using the classification method mentioned in the manual. All isolates exhibited antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus in the well diffusion test. The susceptibilities of the isolated S. thermophilus 24/S1 and L. delbrueckii 94/L4 against 22 different antibiotics were determined by the disc diffusion method and variable susceptibility patterns were observed. Both isolates were susceptible to amoxicillin, the most commonly prescribed antibiotic, and resistant to sulfonamide. The presence of a plasmid was not detected after extraction. S. thermophilus 24/S1 and L. delbrueckii 94/L4 starter cultures were prepared for yogurt production after 9.5 h of incubation and the yogurt was evaluated for its flavor and quality by 30 volunteers. A score of $4.93{\pm}0.45$ out of 7 was obtained as compared to the yogurt prepared using commercial starter cultures which yielded a score of $4.76{\pm}0.30$ out of 7.
CoreSim: Automatic Online Simulation System for Cellular Core Network Performance Measurement

This paper presents an automatic online simulation system which is comprised of ns-3 simulator accompanied by Kriging interpolation. It is capable of acquiring and processing network metrics from measurement servers inside core networks automatically. The real-world testbed is set up for evaluating the correctness of the simulation results. Comparison shows that the system can obtain user-level performance close to the results obtained in real-world test using the same network metrics.

The research presented in this paper aims to provide an insight of fiber reinforced thermoplastic (FRP), carbon fiber reinforced polyamide-6 (CF-PA6) material. Effects of anisotropy and temperature on static and fatigue mechanical properties have been investigated by means of laboratory experiments and finite element simulations. Fatigue experiments have been carried out on uniaxial tensile specimens and 3 points bending specimens, have been cut along 0° (Injection Direction), 45 and 90°, at temperatures of 40, 60, and 100°C. As concerns the fatigue properties, a strain-approach-based fatigue model has been developed and allowed accounting for the different influence of strain, and stress, temperature, showing a correlation factor equal to 91.6%. In addition to that, machine learning model have been applied for the fatigue life prediction showing average discrepancy of the measured and the predicted life to be as low as 17.8%. The results show a capability to apply the semi-empirical and machine learning models to concern the anisotropy and temperature effects of CF-PA6.

Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is one of the many causes of hypercoagulability which often presents with vascular thrombosis in the presence of antiphospholipid antibodies. Symptoms vary depending on the location of the thrombosis. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as paralytic ileus is one of the rare symptoms in APS. The main therapy for APS is use of anticoagulants, but this becomes difficult when there is ongoing bleeding. We report a successful but challenging treatment of a 42-year-old patient who presented with paralytic ileus due to APS with cofounded on-going renal bleeding caused by renal angiomyolipoma.
Energy Efficient Architecture Using Hardware Acceleration for Software Defined Radio Components

In order to make cognitive radio systems a practical technology to be deployed in real-world scenarios, the core Software Defined Radio (SDR) systems must meet the stringent requirements of the target application, especially in terms of performance and energy consumption for mobile platforms. In this paper we present a feasibility study of hardware acceleration as an energy-efficient implementation for SDR. We identified the amplifier function from the Software Communication Architecture (SCA) for hardware acceleration since it is one of the functions called for most frequently and it requires intensive floating-point computation. Then, we used the Virtex5 Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) to perform a comparison between compiler floating-point support and the on-chip floating-point support. By enabling the on-chip floating-point unit (FPU), we obtained as high as a 2X speedup and 50% of the overall energy reduction. We achieved this with an increase of the power consumption by no more than 0.68%. This demonstrates the feasibility of the proposed approach.
