      • Friction welding of multi-shape ABS based components with Nano Zno and Nano Sio2 as welding reinforcement

        Afzali, Mohammad,Rostamiyan, Yasser Techno-Press 2022 Coupled systems mechanics Vol.11 No.3

Due to the high usage of ABS in industries, such as aerospace, auto, recreational devices, boat, submarines, etc., the purpose of this project was to find a way to weld this material, which gives advantages, such as affordable, high speed, and good connection quality. In this experimental project, the friction welding method was applied with parameters such as numerical control (NC) machine with two different speeds and three cross-sections, including a flat surface, cone, and step. After the end of the welding process, samples were then applied for both tensile and bending tests of materials, and the results showed that, with increasing the machining velocity Considering of samples, the friction of the surface increased and then caused to increase in the surface temperature. Considering mentioned contents, the melting temperature of composite materials increased. This can give a chance to have a better combination of Nanomaterial to base melted materials. Thus, the result showed that, with increasing the weight percentage (wt %) of Nanomaterials contents, and machining velocity, the mechanical behavior of welded area for all three types of samples were just increased. This enhancement is due to the better melting process on the welded area of different Nano contents; also, the results showed that the shape of the welding area could play a significant role, and by changing the shape, the results also changed drastically.A better shape for the welding process was dedicated to the step surface.

Phase Transition of a Heavy-fermion Superconductor in a High Magnetic Field: Entanglement Analysis

        R. Afzali,N. Ebrahimian 한국물리학회 2013 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.63 No.3

When the magnetic field is only acting on the spin of electrons, a transition from a normal toa modulated superconducting state or Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) superconductingstate may occur at low temperatures. A FFLO superconducting state, which accompanies anorder parameter that oscillates spatially, may be stabilized by a high applied magnetic field or amolecular field. Quantum multipartite entanglement is a new procedure for investigating quantumphase transitions. In this article, we deal with the phase transition of the FFLO state of CeCoIn5to a normal state by obtaining quantum multipartite entanglement of the system. For this purpose, using normal and anomalous Green functions and the density matrix, we obtain concurrence, as ameasure of bipartite entanglement. Then, the order parameter and the magnetic -field dependenceof multipartite entanglement in momentum space is calculated. The phase transition is determined, and the behavior of the system based on order parameter is discussed. Furthermore, the phasetransitions of both the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) and FFLO states to the normal state arecompared.

      • Nano-graphene oxide damping behavior in polycarbonate coated on GFRP

Mohammad Afzali,Yasser Rostamiyan,Pooya Esmaeili 국제구조공학회 2022 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.84 No.6

This study considered the experimental parameters (Nano-graphene oxide reinforced polycarbonate, GFRP) under low-velocity impact load and vibration analysis. The effect of nano-graphene oxide (NGO) on a polycarbonate-based composite was studied. Two test procedures were adopted to obtain experimental results, vibration analysis. The mechanical tests were performed on damaged and non-damaged specimens to determine the damaging effect on the composite specimens. After the test was carried out, the effect of NGO was measured and damping factors were ascertained experimentally. 0. 2 wt% NGO was determined as the optimum amount that best affected the Vibration Analysis. The experiments revealed that the composite’s damping properties were increased by adding the nanoparticles to 0.25 wt% and decreased slightly for the specimens with the highest nanoparticles content. Cyclic sinus loading was applied at a frequency of 3.5 Hz. This paper study the frequency effect of 3.5khz frequency damage on mechanical results. Found that high frequency will worthlessly affect the fatigue life in NGO/polycarbonate composite. In 3.5 Hz frequency, it was chosen to decrease the heat by frequency. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) micrographs were used to investigate the distribution of NGO on the polycarbonate matrix and revealed a homogeneous mixture of nano-composites and strong bonding between NGO and the polycarbonate which increased the damping properties and decreased vibration. Finally, experimental modal analysis was conducted after the high-velocity impact damage process to investigate the defect on the NGO polycarbonate composites.

Study the effect of machining process and Nano Sio2 on GFRP mechanical performances

Mohammad Afzali,Yasser Rostamiyan 국제구조공학회 2020 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.76 No.2

In this study, the effect of Nano silica (SiO2) on the buckling strength of the glass fiber reinforced laminates containing the machining process causes holes were investigated. The tests have been applied on two status milled and non-milled. To promote the mechanical behavior of the fiber-reinforced glass epoxy-based composites, Nano sio2 was added to the matrix to improve and gradation. Nano sio2 is chosen because of flexibility and high mechanical features; the effect of Nanoparticles on surface serenity has been studied. Thus the effect of Nanoparticles on crack growth and machining process and delamination caused by machining has been studied. We can also imply that many machining factors are essential: feed rate, thrust force, and spindle speed. Also, feed rate and spindle speed were studied in constant values, that the thrust forces were studied as the main factor caused residual stress. Moreover, entrance forces were measured by local calibrated load cells on machining devices. The results showed that the buckling load of milled laminates had been increased by about 50% with adding 2 wt% of silica in comparison with the neat damaged laminates while adding more contents caused adverse effects. Also, with a comparison of two milling tools, the cylindrical radius-end tool had less destructive effects on specimens.

Steel Frame Optimal Design Using MHBMO Algorithm

Seied Hosein Afzali,Abbas Darabi,Majid Niazkar 한국강구조학회 2016 International Journal of Steel Structures Vol.16 No.2

Various deterministic and stochastic algorithms have been used as optimization tools in different engineering problems over the last decade. In this regard, the Modified Honey Bee Mating Optimization (MHBMO) algorithm may be considered as a typical swarm-based approach for optimizing numerous problems in engineering fields. In this paper, a design procedure based on the MHBMO technique was developed for discrete optimization of frames consisting W-shapes. The objective function in this research is to obtain the minimum weight of frames subjected to both strength and displacement requirements imposed by the American Institute for Steel Construction (AISC) and Load Resistance Factor Design (LRFD). Several frame examples from the literature were examined to verify not only the suitability of the design procedure but also the robustness of the MHBMO algorithm for frame structure design. The optimum results obtained by the MHBMO algorithm performs the best in comparison with other available techniques in the literature for all three steel frames. In conclusion, the results shows that the MHBMO algorithm is a powerful and applicable optimization method for design of frames consisting W-shapes.

Flexible Prime-Field Genus 2 Hyperelliptic Curve Cryptography Processor with Low Power Consumption and Uniform Power Draw

        Hamid-Reza Ahmadi,Ali Afzali-Kusha,Massoud Pedram,Mahdi Mosaffa 한국전자통신연구원 2015 ETRI Journal Vol.37 No.1

This paper presents an energy-efficient (low power) prime-field hyperelliptic curve cryptography (HECC) processor with uniform power draw. The HECC processor performs divisor scalar multiplication on the Jacobian of genus 2 hyperelliptic curves defined over prime fields for arbitrary field and curve parameters. It supports the most frequent case of divisor doubling and addition. The optimized implementation, which is synthesized in a 0.13 m standard CMOS technology, performs an 81-bit divisor multiplication in 503 ms consuming only 6.55 J of energy (average power consumption is 12.76 W). In addition, we present a technique to make the power consumption of the HECC processor more uniform and lower the peaks of its power consumption.

        New Nonlinear Variable-parameter Muskingum Models

Majid Niazkar,Seied Hosein Afzali 대한토목학회 2017 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.21 No.7

The Muskingum model has been widely utilized for flood routing by water resources engineers for decades. Since the relation between channel storage and weighted summation of inflow and outflow seems to be nonlinear, a constant exponent parameter is used to account for this nonlinearity. On the other hand, the nonlinear Muskingum models with constant parameters cannot address variation of Muskingum parameters during flood period. In this paper, fourteen new Muskingum models with variable parameters are proposed. In these models, the routing period is divided into two or three sub-periods and the proposed versions of the Muskingum models can possess parameters with different values in these sub-periods. This capability enhances the Muskingum flood routing approach to better capture the reach characteristics and subsequently improve the routing results. The flood routing results for the selected data set demonstrate that three variable-parameter model reduces the SSQ value more than 89% comparing with the best three constant-parameter Muskingum model in the literature. Additionally, it was concluded that considering x-parameter as a variable parameter during a flood period affects the parameter estimation more than imposing the K- and m-parameters to be variable.
