FAST LANE FOR TELECOMMUNICATION VLSI CIRCUIT DESIGN
Adams, J.,Sevenhans, J.,Guebels, P. 대한전자공학회 1989 ICVC : International Conference on VLSI and CAD Vol.1 No.1
Three design approaches for implementing telecommunication VLSI circuits in a fast and still cost effective way are discussed the core processor methodology, the application oriented processor architecture and the true silicon compilation. The most important trade-off arguments to be considered are development cost, development speed ind practical system constraints on power and size.

<P>We present the first study of the energy dependence of <I>pt</I> angular correlations inferred from event-wise mean transverse momentum 〈<I>pt</I>〉 fluctuations in heavy ion collisions. We compare our large-acceptance measurements at CM energies <img SRC='http://ej.iop.org/images/0954-3899/34/3/004/jpg233147ieqn1.gif' ALIGN='MIDDLE' ALT='\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}} = 19.6'/>, 62.4, 130 and 200 GeV to SPS measurements at 12.3 and 17.3 GeV. <I>pt</I> angular correlation structure suggests that the principal source of <I>pt</I> correlations and fluctuations is minijets (minimum-bias parton fragments). We observe a dramatic increase in correlations and fluctuations from SPS to RHIC energies, increasing linearly with <img SRC='http://ej.iop.org/images/0954-3899/34/3/004/jpg233147ieqn2.gif' ALIGN='MIDDLE' ALT='\ln \sqrt{s_{\rm NN}} '/> from the onset of observable jet-related 〈<I>pt</I>〉 fluctuations near 10 GeV.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Flow harmonics ( v n ) in the Fourier expansion of the azimuthal distribution of particles are widely used to quantify the anisotropy in particle emission in high-energy heavy-ion collisions. The symmetric cumulants, S C ( m , n ) , are used to measure the correlations between different orders of flow harmonics. These correlations are used to constrain the initial conditions and the transport properties of the medium in theoretical models. In this Letter, we present the first measurements of the four-particle symmetric cumulants in Au+Au collisions at s N N = 39 and 200 GeV from data collected by the STAR experiment at RHIC. We observe that v 2 and v 3 are anti-correlated in all centrality intervals with similar correlation strengths from 39 GeV Au+Au to 2.76 TeV Pb+Pb (measured by the ALICE experiment). The v 2 – v 4 correlation seems to be stronger at 39 GeV than at higher collision energies. The initial-stage anti-correlations between second and third order eccentricities are sufficient to describe the measured correlations between v 2 and v 3 . The best description of v 2 – v 4 correlations at s N N = 200 GeV is obtained with inclusion of the system's nonlinear response to initial eccentricities accompanied by the viscous effect with η / s > 0.08 . Theoretical calculations using different initial conditions, equations of state and viscous coefficients need to be further explored to extract η / s of the medium created at RHIC.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>New measurements of directed flow for charged hadrons, characterized by the Fourier coefficient v 1 , are presented for transverse momenta p T , and centrality intervals in Au+Au collisions recorded by the STAR experiment for the center-of-mass energy range s N N = 7.7 – 200 GeV. The measurements underscore the importance of momentum conservation, and the characteristic dependencies on s N N , centrality and p T are consistent with the expectations of geometric fluctuations generated in the initial stages of the collision, acting in concert with a hydrodynamic-like expansion. The centrality and p T dependencies of v 1 even , as well as an observed similarity between its excitation function and that for v 3 , could serve as constraints for initial-state models. The v 1 even excitation function could also provide an important supplement to the flow measurements employed for precision extraction of the temperature dependence of the specific shear viscosity.</P>
