<P>In order to increase the availability and affordability of radioimmunotherapy of refractory or relapsed non-Hodgkins lymphoma, we developed and evaluated radioiodinated rituximab in an ongoing physician-sponsored Phase II Clinical Trial. The chimeric 1gG(1) anti CD 20 monoclonal antibody rituximab was radiolabeled with iodine-131 using a modified Chloramine T method with high radiochemical purity (98% +/- 0.82) and preservation of immunoreactivity. All patients received therapeutic loading doses of unlabeled rituximab (375 mg/m(2)) immediately prior to administration of tracer (200 MBq (131)I) or therapy (1.7-4.3 GBq (131)I) activities of (131)I-rituximab to provide additive immunotherapy and enhance tumor uptake of the radiolabeled antibody. Objective response rate (ORR) was 71% in 35 patients with a median follow-up of 14 months (range 4-28 months). Complete remission (CR) was achieved in 54% of patients, with median duration 20 months. Toxicity evaluation included an additional 7 patients followed for at least 3 months. Tracer dosimetry studies were performed in each patient and the whole body radiation absorbed dose was limited to a mean prescribed dose (MPD) of 0.75 Gy. Myelosuppression was reversible and in only 2 of 42 patients was grade IV hematological toxicity observed. No hemopoietic support was required in any patient. There was no instance of hemorrhage or infection in this group of patients in each of whom individual prospective dosimetry was performed prior to (131)I rituximab radioimmunotherapy for relapsed or refractory non-Hodgkins lymphoma.</P>
The Epidemiology and Etiology of Right-Sided Colonic Diverticulosis: A Review

Diverticulosis of the colon is a common condition in Western countries and most patients will remain asymptomatic, but some will present with symptoms of acute diverticulitis or bleeding. Our understanding of diverticulosis is evolving but is mostly derived from diverticulosis affecting the left-sided colon. In contrast, right-sided colonic diverticulosis (RCD) is more commonly seen in Asian countries but is much less common overall. Based on the marked differences in epidemiology, it is commonly thought that these are 2 distinct disease processes. A review of the literature describing the epidemiology and etiology of RCD was performed, with a comparison to the current understanding of left-sided diverticulosis. RCD is becoming increasingly common. The epidemiology of RCD shows it to be a mostly acquired condition, and not congenital as previously thought. Many factors in the etiology of RCD are similar to that seen in left-sided diverticulosis, with a few variations. It is therefore likely that most cases of RCD represent the same disease process that is seen in the left colon.

Granzyme B (GzmB) is a serine protease that has long been thought to function exclusively in lymphocyte-mediated apoptosis. In recent years, this paradigm has been revisited due to the recognition that GzmB accumulates in the extracellular milieu in many autoimmune and chronic inflammatory disorders, and contributes to impaired tissue remodeling due to the cleavage of extracellular matrix proteins. Knockout studies suggest that GzmB-mediated cleavage of decorin (DCN) contributes to impaired collagen fibrillogenesis and remodeling. As DCN is anti-fibrotic and contributes to reduced hypertrophic scarring, GzmB-induced DCN cleavage could play a role in wound healing following burn injury. In the present study, a novel, gel-formulated, first-in-class small-molecule inhibitor of GzmB, VTI- 1002, was assessed in a murine model of impaired, diabetic burn wound healing. VTI-1002 exhibited high specificity, potency, and target selectivity. Gel-formulated VTI-1002 was able to penetrate the stratum corneum and was retained in the skin with minimal systemic absorption. Daily topical administration of VTI-1002 gel for 30 days following thermal injury showed significantly accelerated wound closure, increased DCN protein levels, and collagen organization that was translated into significantly increased wound tensile strength compared to controls. Overall, VTI-1002 gel was well-tolerated in vivo and no adverse events were observed. Topical application of VTI-1002 represents a novel therapeutic approach for the treatment of cutaneous burn wounds.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>This report provides practical recommendations for the design and execution of multicenter functional MRI (MC‐fMRI) studies based on the collective experience of the Function Biomedical Informatics Research Network (FBIRN). The study was inspired by many requests from the fMRI community to FBIRN group members for advice on how to conduct MC‐fMRI studies. The introduction briefly discusses the advantages and complexities of MC‐fMRI studies. Prerequisites for MC‐fMRI studies are addressed before delving into the practical aspects of carefully and efficiently setting up a MC‐fMRI study. Practical multisite aspects include: (i) establishing and verifying scan parameters including scanner types and magnetic fields, (ii) establishing and monitoring of a scanner quality program, (iii) developing task paradigms and scan session documentation, (iv) establishing clinical and scanner training to ensure consistency over time, (v) developing means for uploading, storing, and monitoring of imaging and other data, (vi) the use of a traveling fMRI expert, and (vii) collectively analyzing imaging data and disseminating results. We conclude that when MC‐fMRI studies are organized well with careful attention to unification of hardware, software and procedural aspects, the process can be a highly effective means for accessing a desired participant demographics while accelerating scientific discovery. The paper addresses the challenges of higher efficiency and lower cost than the current DCT from VW (DQ250) fitted with twin wet clutches and hydraulic control. Responsible for the design and supply of the Bugatti Veyron 7-DCT and controller. Ricardo now present some aspects of their ongoing R&D applied to the other end of the market for controlled ratio transmissions with powershift capability. The practical DCT concept is targeted at B/C class with engines up to 200 Nm with very different targets. The shan layout, meshes, and synchronization are standard: the rest of the transmission is targeted at high efficiency which is derived from two main areas: Dry clutches using a novel failsafe latching mechanism and Electrical Linear Actuators used for the clutches and shift-rails to eliminate hydraulics. Cost is reduced as a result of these mentioned devices, and the following features: Mechanical multiplexing of the linear actuators to control the entire transmission using three or potentially just two primary actuators and lubrication using carefully designed active splash channels which eliminate the need for a pump. Regarding what the driver notices, simulation and rig data suggests the combination of a friction material and the accuracy and frequency response of the linear actuation device will provide shin quality approaching that of a wet clutch system with hydraulics. Fuel economy simulation results are presented using rig-validated sub-system models to identify the magnitude of the savings from each of the design features leading to an overall improvement of 9% versus a conventional b\hydraulic DCT. Finally, the concept is shown packaged for a small EU car and a robust prediction is made of system cost.
Electrical characterization of single GaN nanowires

<P>In this paper a statistically significant study of 1096 individual GaN nanowire (NW) devices is presented. We have correlated the effects of changing growth parameters for hot-wall chemically-vapour-deposited (HW-CVD) NWs fabricated via the vapour–liquid–solid mechanism. We first describe an optical lithographic method for creating Ohmic contacts to NW field effect transistors with both top and bottom electrostatic gates to characterize carrier density and mobility. Multiprobe measurements show that carrier modulation occurs in the channel and is not a contact effect. We then show that NW fabrication runs with nominally identical growth parameters yield similar electrical results across sample populations of >50 devices. By systematically altering the growth parameters we were able to decrease the average carrier concentration for these as-grown GaN NWs ∼10-fold, from 2.29 × 10<SUP>20</SUP> to 2.45 × 10<SUP>19</SUP> cm<SUP>−3</SUP>, and successfully elucidate the parameters that exert the strongest influence on wire quality. Furthermore, this study shows that nitrogen vacancies, and not oxygen impurities, are the dominant intrinsic dopant in HW-CVD GaN NWs.</P>

IPCC 실무그룹 1(WGI) 6차 평가보고서(AR6)는 지난 평가보고서보다 지역기후에 관한 평가가 10장, 11장, 12장 및 Atlas로 크게 확장하였다. 이번 보고서 10장은 전구 기후변화와 지역 기후변화를 연계하는 방법론과 다양한 자료들을 평가하는 것이 주요 목적이다. 지역 관측자료에 대한 조건과 문제점을 평가하고 인위적인 기후변화를 규명하고 전망하기 위한 모델링 방법의 적합성을 평가하였다. 지역 기후변화는 자연적인 강제력과 인위적인 영향에 따른 반응, 내부변동성에 따른 대규모 기후 현상에 대한 반응과 지역적 기후과정과 되먹임이 상호작용한 결과라고 할 수 있다. 10장에서 다룬 내용은 지역 기후변화 정보의 근거, 지역기후정보를 구성하기 위한 관측자료와 모델의 이용, 지역 규모에서 인위적인 변화와 내부변동성의 상호작용, 지역기후정보 구성 체계, 지역기후정보 구성을 위한 종합적인 사례들이 포함되었다. 다양한 자료들에서 지역기후정보를 추출(distillation)하고 사용자 관점을 고려하는 것은 의사결정을 위한 적합성, 유용성 및 타당성을 높이고, 사용자가 정보를 활용하는 데 신뢰성을 높인다(높은 신뢰도).
