담론복합체, 정치적 자본, 그리고 위기의 민주주의:종북(從北)담론의 텍스트 구조와 권력 재창출메커니즘의 탐색적 연구

The news coverage over pro-North Korean groups and individuals were salient during the last presidential election in 2012. Naming in way of de-legitimizing certain sector as public enemy resulted in landsliding victory for the ruling political party. This paper attempts to decipher the whole processes of discourse strategies mediated by major newspapers in line with political struggle. For this purpose, first of all, the concept of ‘Discourse Complex’ was suggested so as to explain how Korean conservative news media had been able to lead a group of power elite. This paper, then, paid particular attention to dissecting ‘pro-North Korea’discourse known as ‘Jongbook’ by dividing it into definition, attached value,causes and remedies. Total 443 of columns and editorials were collected from such newspapers as <DongAilbo> <Moonhwailbo> <Hankookilbo> <Seoulshinmun><Hangyereshinmun> and <Kyonghwangshinmun>. Results of analysis showed that various non-profit organizations and social activists were identified as pro-North Korean one only because of their supporting for such values including peace,equality, justice and self-reliance. Not only the logic and grounds had bearing little truth but those conservative papers had taken a double standard in way of de-moralizing political opponents. Unconditional support for the status quo helped by political advocacy groups were also evident. The authors hope this study can be a guiding post for deciphering the way of making Korean power order in time of digital revolution. To provide an opportunity to talk about recovering public sphere in way of securing fair and sound competition of discourses is another point of wish. 2012년 대선에서 보수 언론의 종북 보도는 유별났다. 일부 보수적 신문사와 방송국은 특정 집단을 대상으로 종북세력이라는 낙인을 붙였다. 또한 언론의 종북 보도는 사회 전반에 걸쳐 보수적인 분위기를 형성했고 결과적으로 새누리당의 정권 재창출을 이끌어 냈다. 현존하는 권력관계에 의해 생산된 담론이 지배질서를 어떻게재창출하는지 잘 보여주는 사례였다. 그러나 정치적 목적과 효과를 가장 잘 대변하는 종북담론에 대한 체계적인 분석은 없었다. 노무현과 이명박 정권을 거치면서 누가 종북담론을 주로 생산하고 있으며, 종북담론은 어떻게 구성되어 있고, 또 어떤메카니즘을 거쳐 정권 재창출에 기여하고 있는가에 대한 분석도 부족했다. 이 연구는 먼저 이론적 논의를 통해 담론복합체가 무엇이고 어떤 특성을 갖고 있는지 보았다. 더불어 한국 사회에서 어떻게 발전해 왔는가를 살폈다. 그 다음, 비판적 담론 분석을 둘러싼 다양한 논점과 방법을 제시함으로써 종북담론 분석의 이론적 근거와방법적 타당성을 제시했다. 본 연구를 위해 동아일보, 문화일보, 서울신문, 한국일보, 경향신문, 한겨레 등 6대 일간지에서 나온 종북을 다룬 사설과 칼럼을 분석했다. 검색어로 ‘종북’ 및 ‘친북(親北)’을 사용했고 정권별 변화에 따른 차이를 파악하기 위해 수집기간은 노무현정부가 시작된 2003년 2월 25일에서 이명박 정권이 끝나는 2013년 2월 24일까지로 정했다. 담론의 구성요소로 종북에 대한 정의, 종북을 둘러싼 표상체계, 종북의 근거 및 해결책 등을 선정했다. 분석을 통해, 종북에 대한 언론의 보도는 사실에 기반을 둔 객관성과는 거리가 먼 정치적 재구성이라는 점이 확인되었다. 종북담론은 언론사의 이념적 입장에 따라 전혀 다르게 재구성되고 있었으며 정권의 재창출이라는 특정한 정치적 목적과 깊은 관련이 있었다. 종북의 표상체계와 논리구조 역시 언론사에 따라 다양한 가치와 주장이 자의적으로 접목된 것으로 밝혀졌다. 연구자들은 이를 토대로 언론의 종북 보도는 명백한 정치성과 역사성을 가진 담론으로 기능했으며 종북 담론의 생산과 유통 및 소비를 통해 권력 재창출이 가능했다는 점을 확인했다. 이 연구는 담론복합체를 통한 여론 왜곡과 민주주의 위기를 고민하는 한편 담론정치의 구조를 보다 명확하게 이해할 수 있는 발판이 되었으면 한다.

Bioinformatics Resources of the Korean Bioinformation Center (KOBIC)

The Korean Bioinformation Center (KOBIC) is a national bioinformatics research center in Korea. We developed many bioinformatics algorithms and applications to facilitate the biological interpretation of OMICS data. Here we present an introduction to major bioinformatics resources of databases and tools developed at KOBIC. These resources are classified into three main fields: genome, proteome, and literature. In the genomic resources, we constructed several pipelines for next generation sequencing (NGS) data processing and developed analysis algorithms and web-based database servers including miRGator, ESTpass, and CleanEST. We also built integrated databases and servers for microarray expression data such as MDCDP. As for the proteome data, VnD database, WDAC, Localizome, and CHARMM_HM web servers are available for various purposes. We constructed IntoPub server and Patome database in the literature field. We continue constructing and maintaining the bioinformatics infrastructure and developing algorithms.

Chinese Classifiers and Count Nouns

Many linguists, philosophers, and anthropologists hold that classifier languages, including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Thai, have no count nouns, and that all their common nouns are mass nouns. This paper argues that Chinese draws a syntactic, as well as semantic, distinction between mass and count nouns, and suggests how the approach taken to clarify the distinction can be extended to other classifier languages.

Comparison of Exon-boundary Old and Young Domains during Metazoan Evolution

Domains are the building blocks of proteins. Exon shuffling is an important mechanism accounting for combination of a limited repertoire of protein domains in the evolution of multicellular species. A relative excess of domains encoded by symmetric exons in metazoan phyla has been presented as evidence of exon shuffling, and symmetric domains can be divided into old and new domains by determining the ages of the domains. In this report, we compare the spread, versatility, and subcellular localization of old and new domains by analyzing eight metazoan genomes and their respective annotated proteomes. We found that new domains have been expanding as multicellular organisms evolved, and this expansion was principally because of increases in class 1-1 domains amongst several classes of domain families. We also found that younger domains have been expanding in membranes and secreted proteins along with multi-cellular organism evolution. In contrast, old domains are located mainly in nuclear and cytoplasmic proteins. We conclude that the increasing mobility and versatility of new domains, in contrast to old domains, plays a significant role in metazoan evolution, facilitating the creation of secreted and transmembrane multidomain proteins unique to metazoa.

Construction of an Escherichia-Pseudomonas Shuttle Vector Containing an Aminoglycoside Phosphotransferase Gene and a lacZ'''' Gene for α-Complementation

A new 4.87 kb Escherichia-Pseudomonas shuttle vector has been constructed by inserting a 1.27 kb DNA fragment with a replication origin of a Pseudomonas plasmid pRO1614 into the 3.6 kb E. coli plasmid pBGS18. This vector, designated pJH1, contains an aminoglycoside phosphotransferase gene (aph) from Tn903, a lacZ' gene for α-complementation and a versatile multiple cloning site possessing unique restriction sites for EcoRI, SacI, KpnI, SmaI, BamHI, XbaI, SalI, BspMI, PstI, SphI, and HindIII. When pJH1 was transformed into E. coli DH5α and into P. putida HK-6, it was episomally and stably maintained in both strains. In addition, the enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) gene which was transcriptionally cloned into pJH1 rendered E. coli cells fluorescence when its transformants were illuminated at 488 nm.

한국불교에서 본 대순사상 : 미륵사상과 삼교회통(조화)사상을 중심으로

In this paper, I will study the common point between Korean buddhist thought and Daesoon thought. In 2 chapter, I will illuminate Kang Jeungsan to be familiar with buddhist culture. Daewonsa(大院寺) was the place Kang Jeungsan's to enlighten Path. Kang Jeungsan said Śākyamuni to the people to follow himself. And Kang Jeungsan burned Thousand-Hands Sutra(千手經) as one of Chenjigongsa(天地公事). In 3 chapter I study the unfolding of Korean Maitreya thought and the interpenetration of the three teachings. In 4 chapter I study the idea of Maitreya Buddha and the unity of the three teachings in Daesoon thought. Maitreya has the origin in India. Korea accepted this Maitreya via China. In Silla era, the people accepted Maitreya in relation to Hwarang(花郞). In Unified Silla era, Beopsang jong(法相宗) accepted Maitreya devotion positively and the typical person is Jinpyo(眞表). In Goryeo era, Beopsang jong devoted Maitreya, on the other hand Maitreya devotion changed the popular devotion. In Joseon era, Maitreya devotion changed the popular devotion more and more. In this background, Kang Jeungsan accepted the idea of Maitreya Buddha. And Kang Jeungsan insisted that he is the existence to give Heaven’s decree to Choe Jeu(崔濟愚) of Donghak and to combine Jesus of Christianity. The interpenetration of the three teachings is one of the stream of Joseon era’s buddhim. We can read this in Hamheo Deuktong(涵虛得通)’s Hyeonjeongron(顯正論) and Yuseokjiluiron (儒釋質疑論) to pretend Hamheo Deuktong and Cheongheo Hyujeong(淸虛休靜)’s Samgagwigam(三家龜鑑). This interpenetration of the three teachings of Joseon era influenced Daesoon thought. The unity of the three teachings in Daesoon thought is divided into three. The first is the unity of the three teachings of Gwanwang(冠旺)’s standpoint, the second is the unity of the three teachings of Sungyo(仙敎) superior standpoint, the third is the unity of the three teachings of Jinmuk(震黙)’s anecdote. The interpenetration of the three teachings of Joseon era is connected with the unity of the three teachings of Jinmuk’s anecdote. Thus Joseon era’s buddhist thought and Daesoon thought have the common point in the idea of Maitreya Buddha and the interpenetration(unity) of the three teachings.
