1. Twenty-one cases of brain abscess treated at the Department of Neurosurgery, Seoul National University Hospital during the past 10 years from 1958 through 1967 were studied clinically. 2. Fifty-seven percents of the cases studied were under the age of 20. The ratio between male and female was 2:1. 3. The most important of the known sources of the infection was the infection of the middle ear which was responsible for 57% of total cases. Among others paranasal sinusitis, subacute bacterial endocarditis, cellulitis in face, osteomyelitis in skull, and head trauma were included. 4. Bacterial culture was performed in 12 cases. In 4 cases staphylococci were isolated; iri other 2, streptococci; and in still other 2, proteus. 5. Temporal abscess was found in 13 cases; cerebellar in 2, occipital, in. 2, parietal in 2, and frontal in 1 One case had temporal epidural abscess. 6. Headache was by far the most constant and common symptom and was found in 90%. Among .others fever, vomiting, L-A nausea were included. As sings 14 patients had stIffneek; 5, hemiparesis; 5, convul- sion; 4, hemiplegia and 2, homonymous helnianopsia. Papilledema was found in 9 cases. 7. Level of consciousness was comatous in 3, cloudy in 6, and alert in 12. 8. The mortality in this study was 28.6 % and the operative mortality 22.2 %. All comatous patients expired.

Continuous measurements of radon progeny concentrations in the open atmosphere and measurements of meteorological parameters were performed in Tajeon, using a continuous gross alpha/beta aerosol monitor and a weather measuring equipment between July 1999 and July 2000. These data were analyzed for half-hourly, daily, and seasonal variations. The distribution of daily averaged equilibrium equivalent radon concentration$(EEC_{Rn})$ had an arithmetic mean value of $11.3{\pm}5.86Bqm^{-3}$ with the coefficient of variation of about 50% and the geometric mean was $10.3Bqm^{-3}$. The $EEC_{Rn}$ varies between 0.83 and $43.3Bqm^{-3}$, depending on time of day and weather conditions. Half-hourly averaged data indicated a diurnal pattern with the outdoor $EEC_{Rn}$ reaching a maximum at sunrise and a minimum at sunset. The pattern of the seasonal variation of the $EEC_{Rn}$ in Taejon had a tendency of minimum concentration occurring in the summer(July) and maximum concentration occurring in the late autumn(November). But the seasonal variation of the $EEC_{Rn}$ is expect to vary greatly from place to place. The outdoor $EEC_{Rn}$ was highly dependent on the local climate features. Particularly the $EEC_{Rn}$an rapidly drops less than $5Bqm^{-3}$ in case of blowing heavily higher than wind speed of $6msec^{-1}$, reversely the days with more than $30Bqm^{-3}$ were at a calm weather condition with the wind speed of lower than $1msec^{-1}$.

In this paper, a novel static overmodulation scheme (OVM) for space-vector PWM(SVPWM) is proposed. The proposed static OVM scheme uses the concept of adding offset voltages inlinear region as well as overmodulation region to fully utilize DC-link voltage. By employing zerosequence voltage injection, the proposed scheme reduces procedures for achieving SVPWM such ascomplicated gating time calculation. In addition, this paper proposes a stepwise discontinuous anglemovement in high modulation region in order to reduce Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). Thevalidity of the proposed scheme is verified through theoretical analysis and experimental results

This study developed integration control system that improve efficiency and give flexibility of smoke control system and can improve prevention of disasters performance. The reliable each kind sensor and of integration control system was developed by establishing the specifications, algorithms and constructing engineering data. More correct and reliable control function of optimization can be obtained by the central control from integration control system rather than the existent individual control. This sees to do to impose flexibility to smoke control system. Also, this will provide the basics of integration control system and ability security of smoke control system and can construct smoke control system of performance based.
