A novel and efficient method for designing a heterogeneous porous scaffold with continuous gradients in internal pore architectures is presented. Our method uses a hybrid method which combines radial basis functions (RBFs) interpolation scheme with the triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) transformation strategy. In the method, a three-dimensional (3D) scalar field is defined implicitly as a single smooth architecture distribution function fitted to the given discrete architecture types of some chosen control points. Robust and efficient methods for fitting and evaluating RBFs allow us to design a variety of heterogeneous scaffolds with accurately controlled architecture distribution while maintaining fully interconnected pore networks. Experimental results show that the proposed scaffold design method has the potential benefits for precisely controlling the internal pore architectures within an arbitrarily shaped scaffold while preserving the advantages of distance field and TPMS-based pore architectures.

New bispsoralen derivatives 5-10, 8-MOP-NHCO(CH2)nCONH-8-MOP (BPSBA-Cn, n = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5) in which 5 position of an 8-methoxypsoralen (8-MOP) is linked by various lengths of bisamide polymethylene chain to 5 position of the other 8-MOP, have been synthesized by the amidation of 5-amino-8-methoxypsoralen (12) with a,w -alkanoyl dichloride. Photophysical properties of their derivatives including p-p stacking interaction between the two aromatic moieties were investigated by UV absorption and fluorescence emission spectra. Efficient ring-ring stacking interactions have been observed in BPSBA-C4 (9) from the percent hypochromism (%H) of the models.

The stamping process consists of two stages : First. the blank is held by the blank holder and then it is further formed into the die cavity by punch stroke. In the stamping process. accurate prediction of binder wrap is an indispensable step in sheet metal forming analysis. since the initial plastic buckling induced by improper die design is directly related with fatal defect at the final forming stage. In the present work, an approach including the gravity effect of blank material and proper consideration of contact and friction is proposed. Computations are carried out for several actual auto-body parts using 3D FEM code to investigate the validity of the proposed methodology. Comparisons with experimental results show that the suggested scheme can be effectively applied to the precise prediction of binder wrap for arbitrarily curved die faces in which gravity and contact effect shoud be taken into account.

The synthesis of common skeleton of podosporin A and aureol was studied through cationic olefin cyclization as a key step. The generation of thermodynamic silyl enol ether or enol acetate under known conditions gave regioselectivity of 88:12. The enolate alkylation of 2,3-dimethylcyclohexanone with 2,5-dimethoxybenzyl bromide at the more substituted site via lithium enolate gave poor yield. In this case an organozincate or an ammonium enolate also proved to be ineffective or not practical in terms of yield. Side chain elongation of the substituted cyclohexanone 13 through Grignard reaction, Wittig reaction, or Shappiro reaction did not proceed because of steric hindrance and side reactions. However, Stille coupling reaction via enol triflate produced the desired product 18 in high yield. The advanced intermediate 22, which was efficiently synthesized from 18, produced 24 instead of the desired product under a cationic olefin cyclization condition, indicating that the cyclization occurred in a stepwise mannervia the organomercury intermediate 23.
