Ten anther-derived doubled haploid (ADH) and 10 maternally-derived doubled haploid fines (MDH) from NC 2326 were evaluated in the field to compare their performance. Both anther-derived doubled haploid and maternally-derived doubled haploid lines were agronomically inferior to selfed parental variety for many parameters, but the degree of inferiority of the MDH lines were not significantly different from the selfed parental variety for any character investigated. The inferiority of the ADH lines were, however, significantly different from the selfed parental variety for yield, leaf length and width , and days to flower.

Dihaploid lines were derived from the anthers of the F, of single cross, "Va 115" x"SC 72" (Nicotiana tabacum L.). The path-analysis, correlation coefficient, and variation of characteristics among dihaploid families were evaluated. Dihaploid lines displayed much greater variation than their parents. The genetic correlation coefficient between yield and total alkaloids of dihaploids was significantly lower than that of conventional varieties and lines. In path-analysis which relates yield components to yield, number of leaves harvested and leaf width had a direct effect on yield. a direct effect on yield.
N. africana의 감자바이러스Y 엽맥괴저 계통에 대한 저항성의 유전

A program was initiated to transfer potato virus Y vein-necrosis strain resistance from N. africana to N. tabacum The Fl plants between the above species were self-sterile, but all amphidiploid plants from the Fl plants and backcrossed flowers, that is, the N. tabacum flowers crossed with amphidiploid were self-fertile. The parent, amphidiploid plants of Fl, F2 population of the amphidiploid and the backcrossed generation were screened for a resistance of potato virus Y vein-necrosis strain isolated in Korea. The Chi-square values for the F2 population of the amphidiploid and the backcrossed generation fitted 35: 1 and 5 : 1 ratios of resistant to susceptible for the potato virus Y vein-necrosis strain, respectively. Therefore, it was found that the resistance of N. tabacum for the potato virus Y vein-necrosis strain was controlled by a single dominant gene.

This study was conducted to transfer the potato virus Y-necrosis strain resistance from Nicotiana africana to Nicotiana tabacum (cv. NC82) N. africana was crossed with NC82, GErmination of the cotyledon stage, at which time most of the seedling died. However, surviving seedlings continued to grow normally. Chromosomes of the these interspecific self-sterile F1 hybrids were doubled by tissue culture. Amphidiploid of F1 hybrid was self-fertile. Starting with amphidipliod, a wystematic backcross (BC) program was set up with NC82 as recurrent parent. In the BC5C2 generation, the resistant plant was selected. This resistant line, KF8833-1, had 48 chromosome and secreting glandular trichomes. It flowered 2days later than NC82, and stalk height, leaves per plant, leaf length and leaf width were similar to those of NC82.

Effects of twist on the breaking behavior of twisted raw silk yarns were discussed in the previous report. In this work, young's modulus, work of rupture and abrasion resistance of same silk yarns are made an experiment on. The following results are obtained. ① Young's modulus decreases with increase in twist. ② Maximum valuc of work of rupture is appeared at 1,000tpm in the yarn. ③ Abrasion resistance decreases with increase in yarn tension, maximum value is appeared at 1,500tpm in the yarn.

The present experiments were conducted to investigate some of the factors affecting the number of haploids derived from anther culture of Nicotiana tabacum. Anther - donor plants grown under controlled environment room at 3$0^{\circ}C$ yielded more haploid than room at 18, 25 and 26-22-18$^{\circ}C$ in anther culture. Donor plants starved of fertilizer yielded more haploids as compared to those of the well fed with fertilizer in anther culture. Pretreatment of exercised flower bud at 5$^{\circ}C$ was shown to be more effective in anther culture than pretreatment at 7 and 1$0^{\circ}C$, and the optimum temperature and period of pretreatment were 4 or 6 days at 5$^{\circ}C$.

It was treated PVA film with boric acid to develop and prepare slit yam following previous paper.^(10) In order to draw the film uniaxially in water, we measured the degree of equilibrium swelling and the tensile behaviors in water and investigated. In order to investigate the effect of the structural changes in boric acid treated PVA film on the molecular orientation while drawing in water, we meaarred wide angle X-ray diffraction and birefringence. And we measured the toughness and mechanical properties in tensile test of 400% drawn film which varied the drawing speed, following result was obtained: 1) The proper drawing temperature was 40℃ and pm-heat time was 20 minutes which was established the ressults of degree of equilibrium swelling and tensile test in water. 2) The degree of crystal orientation which measured from crystal planes(101/101 ) reflections at the bragg angle 2θ=19.7˚ was increased with increasing draw ratio. 3) The variation of birefringence and total molecular orientation in samples which treated with boric acid were increased with increasing of draw ratio. 4) The mechanical properties of sample which drawn with draw speed of 100%/min. is superior to those of another samples which was treated with boric add and drawn at 400% draw ratio in water.
