Background and Objectives:Salicylate is one of the most comonly prescribed drugs although it has been recognized including an impairment of the cochlear blod circulation. But the exact mechanism of salicylate ototoxicity is not known cl-early. The purpose of this present study was to determine if the decreased blood flow after salicylate injection could be the possible cause of hearing loss. Material and Methods:We used the ventral approach to expose cochlea in 5 guinea pigs showing normal Preyer reflex. We simultaneously measured cochlear blood flow (CBF) by laser doppler and distortion pro-(DPOAE) after a high dose of salicylate injection (300 mg/kg). Results:After salicylate injection, the cochlear blood flow were decreased by 29.1% in a 3 hour period and the thresholds of DPOAE were elevated by 5 to 25 dB for 3 kHz, 4 kHz, 6 kHz, 8 kHz. Conclusion:Sodium salicylate caused a decrease in cochlear blood flow and an incr-that the ototoxic mechanism of sodium salicylate could be explained by a certain damage of out hair cell due to decrease in cochlear blood flow. 국립국어연구원의 큰 관심거리의 하나가 외국 작품들을 우리말로 옮길 적에 일어나는 여러 가지 문제점들 즉 오역․중역․졸역 등이어서 이 문제를 다루기 위해 벌서 여러 번 번역 문제에 관한 세미나를 열어 왔다. 필자도 ‘중역(重譯)’문제를 중심으로 여기에 참여하여 소견을 진술한 바 있다. 여기에서 논의되었던 몇 가지 문제점들을 다시 한번 본고에서 정리해 보고 자 한다. 번역에서 가장 문제가 되는 것은 무엇보다 ‘오역’이다. 번역 스타일이 어떻고 우리말의 세련도가 어떻고 하기에 앞서 오역은 치명저긴 결함이다. 그러나 모국어가 아닌 외국어를 우리말로 옮길 때 오역이 하나도 안 나온다는 것은 거의 바랄 수가 없을 것 같다.

Objectives: To determine selecting ideal muscles in evaluating L5 radiculopathy through electrophysiologic study. Methods: Electrophysiologic cases which were confirmed for L5 radiculopathies were studied, excluding peripheral neuropathy other than L5 radiculopathy, myelopahty or recent spine surgery less than 3 years. Twenty-seven patients presented with clinical findings of L5 radiculopathy included. The clinical diagnosis of L5 radiculopathy and intervertebral disc displacement in the 4th and 5th lumbar level was confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Patients with peripheral neuropathy other than L5 radiculopathy, myelopathy or recent spine surgery less than 3 years were excluded. We performed electrophysiologic studies in muscles defined by two different categories: paravertebral, proximal and distal groups. Results: Muscles of extensor hallucis longus (79%), extensor digitorum longus (75%), tibialis anterior (70%), paravertebral muscle (62%), peroneus longus (62%), tensor fascia lata (60%), gluteus medius (38%) and lateral head of gastrocnemius (33%) showed abnormal findings in needle electromyography. Including even one abnormal finding in any muscle in each group, the distal group showed the highest rate of abnormalities such as 100% whereas proximal and paravertebral group showed each rate as 68% and 65% in order. Tensor fascia lata muscle and extensor hallucis longus muscle showed the highest rate of abnormalities in each group. Conclusion: We propose that tensor fascia lata in proximal and extensor hallucis longus in distal muscle groups should be selected in L5 radiculopathy.

Inner ear is an important organ that is responsible for balance and hearing. It is composed of two complicated major subunits, vestibular organ and cochlea. During development, both functional units require complex genetic interactions to achieve proper patterning and morphology as its purpose. This review comprises three parts. In the first part, general information about technical tools in studying mouse ear development is introduced. In the second part, it is shown how semicircular canals are formed and what genetic interaction is involved in canal formation. In the last part, genetic interactions required for proper development of cochlea are elaborated, focusing on the length of cochlea and morphology of organ of Corti. The study about development of mutant mice provides us useful information about genetic interaction involved in the formation of structures for hearing and balance. The data acquired in the development field could provide a breakthrough to hair cell regeneration and stem cell therapy fields in stuck, which are directly applicable to human. 수중 채널의 시변동성이 통신 스루풋 효율에 미치는 영향

Underwater acoustic channel has time-variability. Time varying channel which disturbs the continuous transmission of information data reduces the underwater acoustic communication performance. In this paper, we show the temporal coherence as time-variability of channel and indicate throughput efficiency in accordance with transmission time of information data. Then we analyzed influence of underwater channel time-variability on communication throughput efficiency. We confirmed that the throughput efficiency reduced when the time-variability of the channel increased via lake trial. 수중음향 채널은 시변적인 특징을 가진다. 채널의 시변동성은 지속적인 정보 데이터 전송을 방해하여 수중음향통신의 신뢰도를 감소시키는 요인이 된다. 본 논문에서는 채널의 시변동성을 시간영역 상관도로 기술하고, 정보 데이터의 실질 전송시간을 스루풋 효율로 표현하였다. 그리고 수중음향 채널의 시변동성이 통신 스루풋 효율에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 실제 수중음향통신 실험을 통하여 수중채널의 시변동성이 클수록 통신의 스루풋 효율도 감소한다는 것을 확인하였다.
