Aconitum is an extremely dangerous plant that contains various toxic diterpenoid alkaloids, primarily concentrated in the roots. We report a case of acute intoxication of a 60-year-old man admitted to our emergency department after ingestion of a large amount of homemade aconitine decoction. At presentation about one hour after intake, the patient was unconscious and electrocardiographic analysis showed a ventricular tachycardia/fibrillation. Several times defibrillation was applied and antiarrhythmic agents were administered, but the patient still exhibited a refractory ventricular fibrillation and failed to return to spontaneous circulation. Sustained cardiopulmonary resuscitation finally produced a pulsatile cardiac rhythm at two hours after intake. The patient was discharged from our hospital on day 8. The authors stress that clinicians must be aware of the possible occurrence of life-threatening ventricular arrhythmia in cases of aconitine intoxication and be prepared to persist with prolonged CPR as necessary.
Distance metric 기반 detailed Negative set을 사용한 원형 RNA와 질병 연관성 예측

ScircRNAs have been implicated in Alzheimer's and cardiovascular diseases, which are fatal diseases in humans. A lot of time and money are spent trying to identify circRNAs associated with dangerous diseases through biological experiments. One of the efficient approaches to save time or resources is to utilize deep learning. This study proposes a more sophisticated negative set construction method than the random negative set by deleting data similar to the positive with two criteria for the negative set existing in the vector space using distance metric. Through comparison experiments, the sophisticated Negative set performed better than the Random set. The model performance of DiNeg-CDA of the proposed model was measured with an AUC-ROC curve of 0.89.
Selection Strategies and Practical Application of BRAF V600E-Mutated Non–Small Cell Lung Carcinoma

PurposeThe incidence of <i>BRAF</i> V600E mutation in non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) is lower than 2%, which poses difficulties in finding legitimate patients for targeted therapy. We investigated the predictive factors pertaining to <i>BRAF</i> V600E and the effectiveness of the VE1 antibody as a screening method for patient selection.Materials and MethodsThe study was designed into two steps. In a first group, <i>BRAF</i>-mutated NSCLCs were identified from sequencing data to determine the features of <i>BRAF</i> V600E mutation. The results of the first group helped the collection of adenocarcinomas with a papillary or micropapillary pattern but without <i>EGFR</i> or <i>ALK</i> alterations as a second group so that the frequency of <i>BRAF</i> V600E mutation could be calculated. The sensitivity and specificity of the VE1 were compared with <i>BRAF</i> V600E status. ResultsAmong 39 <i>BRAF</i>-mutated NSCLCs in the first group, 20 (51%) were V600E. <i>BRAF</i> V600E mutation was more common in female patients and showed no significant correlation with smoking status. Nineteen cases were adenocarcinomas without <i>EGFR</i> and <i>ALK</i> alterations. The most common patterns of invasion were papillary and micropapillary along with central fibrosis. The sensitivity and specificity of the VE1 were 90.0% and 92.3%, respectively. In the second group, 6.7% of cases were VE1-positive, indicating that the prevalence was significantly higher than that reported in previous studies (0.3-1.8%). Conclusion<i>BRAF</i> V600E-mutated NSCLCs could be enriched with the application of clinicopathologic parameters, which are not perfect. Therefore, additional VE1 immunohistochemistry may be useful as a screening method.

The roles of the two isoforms of ErbB3-binding protein 1 (Ebp1) in cellular function and its regulation in disease and development is a stimulating area in current fields of biology, such as neuroscience, cancer biology, and structural biology. Over the last two decades, a growing body of studies suggests have suggested different functions for the EBP1 isoforms in various cancers, along with their specific binding partners in the ubiquitin-proteasome system. Owing to the specific cellular context or spatial/temporal expression of the EBP1 isoforms, either transcriptional repression or the activation function of EBP1 has been proposed, and epigenetic regulation by p48 EBP1 has also been observed during in the embryo development, including in brain development and neurologic disorders, such as schizophrenia, in using an Ebp1 knockout mouse model. Here, we review recent findings that have shaped our current understanding of the emerging function of EBP1 isoforms in cellular events and gene expression, from development to disease.

The purpose of this study can be divided into two parts. First, analyze differences between national and general youth soccer players physical fitness and competition anxiety. Second, Prevent injury and improve players performance for the game by studying the fundamental needs of fitness and mental strength. This study has done with experiment of youth national players group (NPG; n=10, 17.5±0.7 yrs) and youth general players group (GPG; n=10, 16.8±0.7 yrs). To analyze youth football players physical characteristic, this study examined body fat, basic physical fitness, isokinetic muscle function test, anaerobic power and functional test and for competition anxiety I used Sport Competition Anxiety Test and Sport related Psychological Skills Questionnaire. NPG showed better numerical value of back strength, flexibility, balance and body reaction in the category of fundamental strength and isokinetic knee and ankle joint functional ability and also maximum power among component of anaerobic ability. For the improvement of players performance, aspect of agility and quickness should be applied to training sessions. The result of this study especially some categories with slight difference, can only be a restrictive result due to the population of football players group was relatively small therefore this study will have to be done with bigger population group to get better certainty.
