        Hot-wall epitaxy 법에 의한 $Cd_{1-x}Mn_xTe$ 박막의 성장과 특성

        Hot-wall epitaxy법으로 $Cd_{1-x}Mn_xTe$박막을 GaAs (100) 기판위에 성장시켰다. XRD 측정으로부터 CdTe/GaAs(100) 박막은 기판과 같은 (100)면의 단결정 박막으로, $Cd_{1-x}Mn_xTe$박막은 Mn의 조성비 x가 증가함에따라 다결정 박막으로 성장되었으며, 박막의 격자상수는 x의 증가에 따라 덩어리 결정의 경우와 비슷한 기울기로 감소함을 확인하였다. x의 변화에 대한 $Cd_{1-x}Mn_xTe$ 박막의 PL 측정으로부터 받개와 퍼텐셜 요동에 의하여 포획된 엑시톤의 재결합 피크인 $L_1$과 $L_2$를 관측하였으며, $L_1$피크는 x=0.09 시료에서만 관측되었고 x값이 증가하면 사라졌다. x $\ge$0.2의 경우에는 $L_2$피크가 강하게 나타나고 x$\ge$ 0.4에서는 $Mn^{2+}$이온의 intra 천이에 의한 2.0eV 근처의 피크가 강하게 나타났다. x>0.4에서 $Mn^{2+}$이온에 의한 2.0eV 피크는 pinning이 일어나 변화가 거의 없이 일정하였다. $Cd_{1-x}Mn_xTe$ thin films were grown on GaTs (100) substrates by hot-wall epitaxy method. From the XRD measurements, it was found that CdTe/GaAs (100)film was grown as a single crystal with the same growth plane of (100) and $Cd_{1-x}Mn_xTe$film as a poly crystal as Mn content was increased, and the lattice constant was decressed with the similar gradient of bulk crystal as x was increased. From the PL measurements, $L_1$line due to the exciton trapped on an acceptor and $L_2$line due to an exciton trapped on a shallow potential fluctuation were observed, and $L_1$line was observed only in $Cd_{0.91}Mn_{0.09}$te but it was disappeared probably due to a stronger lacalization of excitons with increasing alloy fluctuation.$L_2$line was dominant in case of $x{\ge}0.2$and for higher Mn contents the broad transition about 2.0eV associated to the 3d levels of the $Mn^{2+}$ ion dominated the PL spectrum, and the $L_2$ transition become weaker and weaker. For$x{\ge}0.4$, the transition line about 2.0eV due to $Mn^{2+}$ion showed no shift.

        Clinical Characteristics of Patients with Probable Coronavirus Disease 2019-associated Pulmonary Aspergillosis at a Tertiary Care Hospital in the Republic of Korea: A Case Series

        Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-associated pulmonary aspergillosis (CAPA) is a life-threatening invasive fungal infection in critically ill patients with COVID-19. However, only a few studies have reported CAPA in the Republic of Korea. Objective: To describe clinical characteristics of CAPA in patients at a tertiary care hospital in the Republic of Korea. Methods: This retrospective, observational consecutive case series study was conducted by reviewing the electronic medical records of patients who developed CAPA at Seoul National University Hospital from January 1, 2020, to August 31, 2021. CAPA was defined by European Confederation of Medical Mycology/International Society for Human and Animal Mycology (ECMM/ISHAM) consensus criteria. Patient demographics, comorbidities, corticosteroid use, clinical presentation, treatment, and outcomes were investigated. Results: Eleven patients were diagnosed with probable CAPA according to the ECMM/ISHAM criteria. One patient had classical host factor for invasive pulmonary aspergillosis before admission. All patients received corticosteroid therapy before CAPA diagnosis. The mean total corticosteroid administered before CAPA diagnosis was 220 mg of dexamethasone equivalent dose (range, 80~572 mg), and the mean duration of steroid therapy was 15 days (range, 4~34 days). The median time from intensive care unit admission to CAPA diagnosis was 12 days (range, 5~36 days). All individuals showed aggravation on chest X-rays. Ten patients were diagnosed with positive serum galactomannan (GM), and one was diagnosed with positive GM in a bronchoalveolar lavage specimen. Of the 11 patients, 8 received voriconazole-based antifungal therapy for a median of 30.5 days. Only two patients survived after antifungal treatment. Conclusion: These cases illustrate CAPA complicated in critically ill COVID-19 patients. The challenges in diagnosis and poor outcomes of CAPA emphasize the clinical suspicion and needs for further investigation.

        Optical Absorption of Zn1−xMnxSiAs2 Single Crystals : Variation of theEnergy Gap with Composition and Temperature

        We have investigated the Mn composition x and the temperature (12 K T 300 K) dependences of the energy gap of Zn1−xMnxSiAs2 crystals. Single crystals were grown by using the vertical Bridgman method for a series of Mn compositions x. The variation of the enery gap, Eg, with temperature follows the Varshni’s relation for all compositions. The energy gap decreased up to x 0.04. Thereafter, it increased with x. The energy gap bowing effect is related to the sp-d exchange interaction between the 3d electrons of magnetic Mn ions and the band electrons and to magnetic and chemical disorder.

        Coronavirus Disease 2019-Associated Pulmonary Aspergillosis

        As the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic continues, a new disease, COVID-19-associated pulmonary aspergillosis (CAPA), is on the rise. CAPA is a secondary fungal infection in patients with critical COVID-19 receiving mechanical ventilation in intensive care units (ICUs). Although the incidence rate of CAPA is estimated to be 10.2% in ICU patients, CAPA appears to be associated with an increase in overall mortality. CAPA is like classical invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA) but has an ambiguous clinical manifestation and occurs without typical host factors. It is also like influenza-associated pulmonary aspergillosis but differs in clinical characteristics. For research and clinical practice, the European Confederation for Medical Mycology and the International Society for Human and Animal Mycology proposed novel case definition criteria for CAPA. Although CAPA management is not much different from typical IPA, areas of uncertainty remain that require further investigation.

        Structural, Optical, and Magneto-Optical Properties in Diluted Magnetic Semiconductors Cd0.63-yMn0.37CoyTe Single Crystals

        We investigated the magneto-optical properties of diluted magnetic semiconductor Cd$_{0.63-y}$ Mn$_{0.37}$Co$_{y}$Te single crystals grown using a vertical Bridgman method. From the temperature dependence of the band-gap energy, the Varshni temperature parameter $\alpha$ was found to increase linearly with increasing Co concentration $y$ while $\beta$ decreased with $y$. The Faraday rotation as a function of photon energy with various Co compositions for CdMnCoTe in the temperature range of 10 to 300 K was measured. The Verdet dispersion curves were enhanced near the fundamental band gap energy. The Verdet constant becomes larger since because the effect of the $sp$-$d$ exchange interaction is enhanced as the temperature is lowered. At 10 K, the Verdet constants of the Faraday rotation for the samples with $y$ = 0, 0.01, 0.02, and 0.04 were observed to be --0.94, --1.41, --1.69, and --2.11 deg/G cm at 610 nm, respectively. The Verdet constant showed a maximum for the sample with $y$ = 0.04, and the value was approximately 2.3 times larger than that of the Cd$_{0.63}$Mn$_{0.37}$Te crystal. The Faraday rotation increased as Co content was increased, and the origin of the enhancement of the Faraday rotation in CdMnCoTe crystals could be explained in terms of the magnetization.

        녹내장 환자의 약물 순응도 조사

        Purpose: To assess glaucoma medication compliance and its causative factors in glaucoma patients. Methods: This study was performed via a structured questionnaire given to 415 glaucoma patients using eye drops for glaucoma treatment. The degree of compliance was evaluated by using compliance score (range, 0–100) which was calculated based on the number of days of missing medication per month. The degree of symptoms and complications related to glaucoma and its medication were investigated using the Glaucoma Symptom Scale (GSS). The effect of sex, age, treatment duration, knowledge about the glaucoma medication, number of eye drops, class of glaucoma medication, family support for eye drop use, and GSS on glaucoma medication compliance was assessed. Results: The most frequently found number of days of missing medication per month was one to four (43.4%). The most common reason for missing medication was forgetfulness (80.5%), followed by busy daily schedule (18.4%) and complications of medication(1.1%). Compliance score ranged from 10.0 to 100.0 (median value, 90.0). Older age, longer duration of treatment, higher knowledge about the glaucoma medication, and the presence of family support was significantly associated with a higher compliance score (p < 0.05). Sex, number and class of eye drops, and GSS did not significantly affect compliance score. Conclusions: Age, treatment duration, knowledge about the glaucoma medication, and familial support were affecting factors for glaucoma medication compliance. To enhance glaucoma medication compliance, these factors should be considered. 목적: 녹내장 환자의 약물 치료 순응도와 영향요인을 알아보고자 한다. 대상과 방법: 녹내장으로 안약 점안 중인 415명의 환자를 대상으로 약물 순응도 및 부작용에 대한 설문조사를 시행하였다. 약물 순응도는 한 달 기준으로 약물을 용법대로 제대로 점안하지 못하는 날의 일수를 이용하여 순응도 점수(범위, 0–100)를 산출하였고, 녹내장및 약물 관련 증상과 부작용은 Glaucoma Symptom Scale (GSS)을 이용하여 평가하였다. 환자의 성별, 나이, 치료 기간, 약물 용법에대한 지식, 약물 개수, 약물의 종류, 약물 점안하는 사람(본인 또는 가족), GSS에 따라 녹내장 약물 순응도에 차이가 있는지 분석하였다. 결과: 안약을 용법대로 제대로 점안하지 않은 날은 한 달 중 하루에서 나흘이 가장 많았다(43.4%). 그 이유는 ‘깜빡 잊어버려서(80.5%)’, ‘바빠서(18.4%)’, ‘부작용 때문에(1.1%)’ 순이었다. 순응도 점수는 10.0부터 100.0까지의 분포를 보였고 중위값은 90.0이었다.나이가 많을수록, 치료기간이 길수록, 약물 용법에 대한 지식이 높을수록, 가족이 안약을 점안해주는 경우에 높은 녹내장 약물 순응도를 보였다(p<0.05). 성별, 약물의 종류나 개수, 약물관련 부작용은 약물 순응도에 유의한 영향을 주지 않았다. 결론: 나이, 치료기간, 약물 용법에 대한 이해, 가족의 안약 점안 도움이 녹내장 약물 치료 순응도에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다.녹내장 환자의 약물 순응도를 높이기 위해 이 요인들을 고려하는 것이 치료에 도움이 될 것으로 생각한다.
