Mineral Trioxide Aggregate(MTA)의 치근단 역충전효과에 대한 임상적 연구

Although numerous materials have been recommended as root end filling material, so far no material has been found to satisfy all of the requirements of an ideal material. An experimental material, mineral trioxide aggregate(MTA), has been recently developed to seal off all pathways of communication between the root canal system and the external surface of the tooth. This material has been used to seal the root end cavities in extracted teeth and similar preparations in beagle dogs and shown very promising results. In this clinical study, 5 anterior teeth from three patients were used to clinically and radiographically evaluate the efficacy of MTA as a root end filling material on a short-term basis. After removing the apical 2 to 3 ㎜ of the roots, The root end cavities were prepared and filled with MTA. The results were as follows: 1. All the cases demonstrated excellent healing radiographically and absence of clinical signs and symptoms. 2. According to the results, it appeared that MTA had a good sealing ability and biocompatibility. 3. MTA showed very promising results as a root end filling material, but Long-term clinical retrospective studies of many cases are recommended to get the most valid evaluations.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is the virus responsible for the deadly COVID-19 pandemic. The spike(s) protein of SARS-CoV-2 known to be highly related to the virus infectivity are divided into eight clades. In this study, the infectious clades SARS-CoV-2 spike(s) protein from confirmed CORVID-19 patients, deaths, and recovered cases reported domestically (Republic of Korea) and across the continent, were analyzed to determine the relationship with infection. When the domestic clade ratio was compared with the continental clade, the GH clades were found to be widely distributed in Korea, and across the continent. In addition, GH clades also showed a similar trend in North America. The comparison of clades from newly confirmed cases from daily diagnosis revealed that the GH clades which quickly spread through a specific case in Korea, were in fact related to the overseas clades. Due to possibly high infectivity of this GH clade detected mainly in the oversea patients, a large-scale propagation could occur due to the importation of this new clade. The emergence of this highly infectious clade is predicted to occur during the national academic proficiency test, Christmas, New Year's Day events, and family gatherings. In conclusion, we need to strengthen the quarantine measures according to the current oversea occurrence and domestic trends on a high GH clade ratio basis.

The purpose of the present study was to compare the sealing ability of several root canal sealers commonly used in endodontic therapy. One hundred maxillary anterior canals from artificial Epoxy resin block were employed and prepared to a size 50 K-file in a conventional method. The canals were divided into five groups of twenty each and obturated with the following materials. Z.O.E. cement, Tubliseal, Nogenol, Calcipulpe, and Vitapex. After canal obturation, all the specimens were immersed in 2% Methylene blue dye solution and stored in an incubator at 37℃. At the end of 24 hours, 2 days, 3days, 5days, 7days, 10days, and 14days, ald the specimens were removed from the dye solution in order to evaluate the dye penetration. The sealing ability was evaluated by measuring the distance of dye penetration from the apical foramen into the pulp chamber under a macroscope. The results were as follows; 1. All the tested sealers showed varying degree of dye penetration. 2. All the tested sealers showed increasing pattern in dye penetration over time. 3. Nogenol, Tubliseal, and Vitapex showed a better sealing ability than Z.O.E cement or Calcipulpe. 4. Nogenol showed the best sealing ability among the tested sealers, and Calcipulpe showed the worst within 2 weeks. 5. Vitapex showed nearly the same sealing ability as Tubliseal.
흰 쥐 腦組織에서 Serotonin含量變化가 疼痛調節에 미치는 影響

The purpose of the experiment was to evaluate the effects of electrical stimulation of the periaqueductal gray(PAG) and pretreatment of 5.7-dihydroxytryptamine(5.7-DHT) on rat jaw-opening reflex elicited by maxillary mucosal stimulation, to determine the content of serotonin and 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid(5-HIAA) after PAG stimulation and 5.7-DHT pretreatment, and eventually to clarify the role of serotonin on the descending pain control mechanisms. The effects of electrical stimulation of the PAG and prctreatment of 5.7-DHT on the jaw opening reflex was evaluated by using fractional change of digastric EMG. The content of serotonin and 5-HIAA was calculated by using high liquid chromatography(HPLC) with electrochemical detection (ECD) method. The results were as follows; 1. electrical stimulation of the PAG depressed the jaw-opening reflex but this effect was markedly reversed by 5.7-DHT pretreatment. 2. In normal rats, the content of serotonin and 5-HIAA was significantly increased in the pons and medulla oblongata by electrical stimulation of the PAG. 3. The content of serotonin and 5-HIAA was significantly decreased after pretreatment of 5.7-DHT in the midbrain, pons, and medulla oblongata.
기수갈고둥 (Clithon retropictus) 의 Arginine kinase 유전자를 이용한 분자계통학적 연구

Clithon retropictus is a small gastropod belonging to the Neritidae, and inhabits gravel areas in brackish waters. It has been designated as an endangered species as class II, because of its habitat conditions and reckless development of coastlines. In September 2021, C. retropictus registered in NCBI has only 80 nucleotides, 52 proteins, and 74 genes. In this context, we sequenced the C. retropictus cDNA library using the Illumina Hiseq 2500 platform. Arginine Kinase (AK) sequence was obtained by using BLAST program. To investigate the molecular phylogenetic analysis of C. retropictus, a dendrogram was generated using AK gene as a marker. Based on the phylogenetic tree, it is classified into three classes (Cephalopods, Gastropods, and Bivalvia). In addition, analysis of AK 2D structure using 38 species shows that no striking similarity was found. In conclusion, AK gene of C. retropictus consisted of 1,053 bp (351 amino acids) and could be utilized for molecular phylogenetic classification.
