This study regards street environment that directly leads the activation of a city. Streets are important components of a city and Kevin Lynch explains them as having a role of adjusting other environmental elements and setting relationships among them. The physical environment that surrounds the streets are very closely related to the activation of a city. Depending on the contents of the physical environment streets can remain a simple means of transportation or expand to a space that can be enjoyed by the public. Streets become a place for action. One of the representative element of the physical environment is buildings that surrounds the streets. Especially in the current urban atmosphere that undergo reconstruction and redevelopment in a huge scale, street environment according to its surrounding buildings is very important. This study analyzes the adjacency of the characteristics of the ground floor’s spacial trait that affects the activation of street atmosphere. It also focuses on ‘brand’, a new element that leads such activation. The brand strategy of the space is carried out with ‘space marketing’. Space marketing is a strategy that induces constant interchange or activation between people and space. This study model was ‘cafe-gil’ located in PunDang, and it was compared with ‘Garosu-gil’ and street near by ’The Sharp Star park’ for analysis. This was to confirm the general characteristics of architectural and psychological elements that create the activation of streets. Results showed the following elements. 1. Brand effect on streets 2. Street content components - ground floor architecture 3. Ground floor buffer space 4. Need for the social consumption space and attractive culture space on the ground floor. These elements were found to be the factors of vitality and such composition will attain the necessary possibility of sustainable growth. In conclusion the activation of streets proves it will realize the best ‘space marketing’ when strategic architectural approach and brand marketing approach integrates chemically for its ground floors.
미국 도심 재개발 복합 쇼핑몰과 가로활성화에 관한 연구

This study regards street environment that directly leads to the activity of a city. Also, most cities have an existing downtown that needs redevelopment from slum to new complex these days. A lot of towns in Seoul recently have been redeveloped by the real estate companies or resistants unions. They have been redeveloped as housing complexes or commercial complexes by them. However, there have been problems in the redevelopment complexes. Especially, the context of the streets and social connections have been destroyed. Successful redeveloped complexes have been revitalized themselves except existing street and background cities. They look like isolated islands. Their border areas have become desolate, and have been walled. I researched for case studies in the US that already redeveloped commercial complexes a few years ago. My case studies are the Paseo Nuevo shopping mall in Santa Barbara, the Grove mall in LA and the Horton Plaza in San Diego. The results found pros and cons about relations between existing street and redevelopment. One of the case studies showed ways to overcome isolated problems by redevelopment. The Paseo Nuevo shopping mall has been revitalized with existing streets. They have six positive features as architectural plans. First of all, It has opened a facade and plan toward existing streets. Secondly, It has many entrance gates. Thirdly, the parking lot is located behind the shopping mall and an another block. Fourthly, it has unconnected circulation for pedestrians. Fifthly, the stair or arcade have been removed or reduced as psychological barrier. Sixthly, the design of circulation needs to use more organized public arts or attraction elements. Results of the study are important features for revitalization between existing streets and redeveloped complexes.
구속조건을 적용한 다이아몬드 탐색 알고리즘에 의한 고속블록정합움직임추정

영상 시퀀스로부터 추정된 움직임벡터분산에 관한 연구에 기초하여 본 논문에서는 고속블록정합움직임 추정을 위한 구속조건을 적용한 다이아몬드탐색(DS) 알고리즘을 제안한다. 영상 시퀀스에서의 움직임벡터가 수직 또는 수평방향으로 2개화소이내의 거리에서 탐색되어지는 점을 고려하여, DS 알고리즘은 수직 또는 수평방향의 움직임벡터의 추정을 강조함으로써 새로운 3단계 탐색알고리즘에 비하여 오차율 면에서 유사한 결과를 나타내지만 계산량을 줄일 수 있었음을 확인하였다. 또한, DFD를 구속조건으로 DS 알고리즘에 적용함으로써 음직임이 없는 안정된 블록에서의 움직임벡터의 계산에 소요되는 계산량을 줄일 수 있을 뿐 아니라 국부 해를 예측할 가능성을 감소시킬 수 있었다. 따라서 제안된 구속조건을 적용한 DS알고리즘은 기존은 DS 알고리즘뿐 만 아니라 4단계 탐색, 블록기반 기울기-감소 탐색에 비해 평균자승오차 또는 필요한 탐색 점의 수에서 우수한 걸과를 나타냄을 알 수 있었다. Based on the studies on the motion vector distributions estimated on the image sequences. we proposed constrained diamond search (DS) algorithm for fast block-matching motion estimation. By considering the fact that motion vectors are searched within the 2 pixels distance in vertically and horizontally on average. we confirmed that DS algorithm achieves close performance on error ratio and requires less computation compared with new three-step search (NTSS) algorithm. Also, by applying displaced frame difference (DFD) to DS algorithm. we reduced the computational loads needed to estimate the motion vectors within the stable block that do not have motions. And we reduced the possibilities falling into the local minima in the course of estimation of motion vectors by applying DFD to DS algorithm. So, we knew that proposed constrained DS algorithm achieved enhanced results as aspects of error ratio and the number of search points to be necessary compared with conventional DS algorithm, four step search (FSS) algorithm. and block-based gradient-descent search algorithm.
