아동의 우식활성과 모친의 우식활성간의 상관성에 관한 연구

The correlation of caries activity of 51 children with that of their mothers has been studied. The age distribution of children was from 3 to 13 years, and the mean was 8.2 years. Caries activity was measured by caries experience, Cariostat test, and modified Alban test. Tooth brushing frequency, breast-fed period, and bottle-fed period were also investigated. Among the caries activity variables, there were significant correlations between Cariostat test score of children and that of mothers, between Cariostat test score of children and DT of mothers, between DT of children and modified Alban test score mothers, and between dt of children and DT of mothers. Also, there were significant correlations between toothbrushing frequency of children and that of mothers and between ft of children and bottle-fed period. Caries activity of children had reverse correlation with age of mothers. These observations indicate that caries activity of mothers should be controlled first to control that of children.

Caries activity of ninety-nine pediatric dental patients were examined by two caries activity tests, Cariostat test and Alban test. Agar was not added to Alban test medium. All buccal cervical dental plaque was removed by a cotton applicator and then the latter was incubated in Cariostat test medium at 37。C for 48hrs. After incubation, the color of medium was recorded as O to 3 on the basis of whether the color was blue, green, yellow-green, or yellow. Small quantity of unstimulated saliva was flowed into Alban test medium and then it was incubated and recorded by same method. DT index, FT index, dt index, ft index, and DFdft index were used as caries experience. There was significant correlation between Cariostat test score and Alban test score(0.4036, P=0.000), between Cariostat test score and DFdft index(0.1983, P=0.025), and between Alban testscore and DFdft index(0.3004, P=0.001). Cariostat test score had significant correlation with ft index, and Alban test score had significant correlation with df index.
