금강의 용담댐에서 대청댐까지 서식하는 감돌고기 (Pseudopungtungia nigra)의 서식범위 및 물리적 서식지 평가

In this study, a fish survey was conducted to investigate the habitat status of black shinner (Pseudopungtungia nigra) designated as endangered species level from the lower part of Yongdam Dam to the upper part of Daecheong Dam. Biodiversity analysis was performed on the basis of the number of fish emerged, and biological health and physical habitat environment were quantitatively analyzed using collected P. nigra. According to the survey, the habitat range of P. nigra was found from Banguri-myeon, Buri-myeon, Geumsan-gun, downstream of Yongdam Dam. The biodiversity analysis results of all species appeared to be low in overall dominance index and relatively high in species diversity and uniformity index. In addition, P. nigra collected in this study was confirmed to have normal growth and nutritional status by the full-length-weighted relativities and condition factor. The physical habitat environment of P. nigra was 0.3 - 0.6 m in depth, 0.3 - 0.7 m/s in flow rate, and bed materials showed high frequency of occurrence in the range of cobbles (64.0 - 256.0 mm) to boulders (>256.0 mm). These results are expected to be used as data for habitat restoration and management in the future as basic data on the spatial range and preferred physical habitat environment of P. nigra in Geumgang. 금강의 용담댐 하류부터 대청댐 상류 구간을 대상으로 멸종위기 1급으로 지정된 감돌고기의 서식 실태를 파악하고자 어류조사를실시하였다. 출현된 어류의 개체수를 기준으로 생물다양도 분석을 실시하였고, 채집된 감돌고기를 이용하여 생물학적 건강성 및물리적 서식환경을 정량적으로 분석하였다. 조사결과에 따르면 감돌고기의 서식범위는 용담댐 하류부터 대청댐 상류 가덕교 700 m 하류 지점까지 서식이 확인되었다. 전체 출현종의 생물다양도 분석결과는 전체적으로 우점도 지수가 낮았고, 상대적으로 종 다양도및 균등도 지수가 높아 어류군집이 안정된 것으로 평가되었다. 또한 본 연구에서 채집된 감돌고기는 전장-무게 상대성정식 및비대지수 (CF) 분석결과 정상적인 성장 및 영양 상태로 확인되었다. 감돌고기의 물리적 서식환경은 수심 0.3 - 0.6 m, 유속 0.3 - 0.7 m/s, 하상재료는 호박돌 - 전석의 범위에서 높은 출현빈도로 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과는 금강에서 감돌고기의 공간적인서식범위와 선호하는 물리적 서식환경에 대한 기초자료로서 향후 서식지 복원 및 관리를 위한 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

We examined the effects of the vibration stress on cortisol secretion and hematological characteristics in soft-shelled turtle, Pelodiscus sinensis. For the stressed group vibration of from electric vibrator applied for 30 min with 2-h intervals during daytime () up to 28 days. Using the blood samples collected from ten turtles held once a week after vibration stress, we measured hematocrit, hemoglobin, red blood cells, cortisol, glucose, lactic acid, osmolality, , aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and alanine aminotransferase (ALT). The results have showed that P. sinensis received vibration stress exhibit the 'typical' stress-induced physiological responses (cortisol, glucose, lactic acid, osmolality, ions, hematocrit and hemoglobin) induced by vibration stress. Our data suggested that chronic vibration stress caused substantial stress in the animal, and in particular, the persisting elevated levels of AST and ALT would be highly correlated with the adverse effects of the stress. The high hematological characteristics during entire experimental period showed that the P. sinensis could not adapt to chronic stimuli provoked by vibration stress.
용담댐 하류의 하천건강성 평가 및 어류 서식처를 고려한 최적 생태유량 산정

Physiological Responses to Three Different Levels of Vibration Stress in Catfish, Silurus asotus

The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of vibration on primary (e.g. plasma cortisol), secondary (e.g. plasma glucose, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), Na+, K+ and Cl – ) and tertiary (e.g. mortality) stress responses in cultured catfish, Silurus asotus. For this purpose, three groups (one control group and two stress groups) were set up. The control group was exposed to vibration corresponding to 48 decibel (dB) volt (V) (produced using electric vibrators) for 15 minutes per hour every day, and the two stress groups were exposed to vibrations corresponding to 58 and 68 dB (V) (produced using the same electric vibrators), equally, for 15 minutes per hour every day. Blood was sampled at day 0 (before starting vibration stress tests), and at days 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11 (after starting vibration stress tests). According to the results, the catfish physiologically showed ''typical'' stress responses when they were exposed to chronic vibration. This indicates that such chronic vibration caused substantial stress to catfish; especially, persistently elevated plasma AST and ALT levels observed caused adverse effects to them. In conclusion, chronic vibration could significantly affect hematological characteristics in catfish.

하천복원과 환경유량을 위한 기초자료를 확립하고자 금강수계의 초강천에서 생물학적 건강성 및 최적 생태유량에 대하여 조사하였다. 출현한 어종은 총 9과 36종 4,669개체였으며, 잉어과가 66.7%(24종)로 가장 높았다. 참갈겨니가 1,588개체로 34.0%로 우점종이었으며, 아우점종은 피라미로 22.6%, 우세종은 쉬리 13.3%로 나타났다. IBI와 QHEI는 상류로부터 하류로 내려갈수록 값이 감소하는 것으로 나타났으며, IBI 값은 27.9~38.6으로 평균 32.2로 양호상태를 나타냈다. 참갈겨니, 쉬리 및 감돌고기에 대하여 서식도적합도지수(HSI) 및 최적 생태유량을 산정하였다. 참갈겨니의 경우, 유속과 수심의 HSI 값은 각각 0.1~0.4 m/s와 0.2~0.4 m 였다. 감돌고기는 유속이 0.2~0.5 m/s, 수심이 0.4~0.6 m 및 하상재료가 가는자갈~호박돌로 나타났다. 이를 기초로 하여 각 지점의 최적 생태유량은 하류로 내려갈수록 값이 증가하는 것으로 나타났으며, 이에 따라서 WUA 값도 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. In order to establish fundamental data for stream restoration and environmental flow, we investigated optimal ecological flowrate (OEF) and riverine health condition in the Chogang Stream, a tributary to Geum River, Korea. The number of fish individuals sampled in this period were 4,669 in 36 species of 9 families. The most abundant species was Korean chub (Zacco koreanus, 34.0%) followed by pale chub (Z. platypus, 22.6%) and Korean shinner (Coreoleuciscus splendidus, 13.3%). Index of biological integrity (IBI) and qualitative habitat evaluation index (QHEI) values decreased from upstream to downstream along the stream. The estimated IBI value ranged from 27.9 to 38.6 with average 32.2 out of 50, rendering the site ecologically fair to good health conditions. OEF was estimated by the physical habitat simulation system (PHABSIM) using the habitat suitability indexes (HSI) of three fish species Z. koreanus, C. splendidus and Pseudopungtungia nigra selected as indicator species. In Z. koreanus, HSI for flow velocity and water depth were estimated at 0.1 to 0.4 m/s and 0.2 to 0.4 m, respectively. In P. nigra, HSI for flow velocity, water depth and substrate size were estimated at 0.2 to 0.5 m/s and 0.4 to 0.6 m and fine gravel to cobbles, respectively. OEF values increasing from up to downstream was found to increase, weighted usable area (WUA) values increased accordingly.
