        Antioxidant Activities of Red Algae from Jeju Island

        The aim of the present study was to evaluate the antioxidant activity of red algae in Jeju Island. The algal extracts were obtained with MeOH and fresh water at 20 and 70°C, and screened for antioxidant activities using hydroxyl radical (HO·), superoxide anion (O2–), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and DPPH free radical scavenging assays. Among them, Gracilaria verrucosa methanolic extract at 20°C (20ME, 96.85%), G. textorii aqueous extract at 20°C (20AE, 88.01%), Grateloupia filicina 20AE (85.35%), and Polysiphonia japonica 20ME (94.92%) exhibited the highest scavenging activities against HO·, O2–, H2O2, and DPPH free radicals, respectively. Moreover, P. japonica (20ME and 70ME) is correlated between DPPH free radical scavenging activity and polyphenolic contents. These results indicate that some red algae in Jeju Island could be potential candidates for development of antioxidants.

        Antioxidant activities of brown and green seaweeds from Jeju Island

        Antioxidative activities of Chlorophyta and Phaeophyta in Jeju Island were measured by superoxide anion (O2·–), hydroxyl radical (HO·), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and DPPH free radical scavenging assays. Methanolic and aqueous extracts of the seaweeds were prepared at both temperatures, higher (70°C) and room temperature (20°C), and screened for the construction of an extract bank from seaweeds in Jeju Island. A variety of extracts showed positive effect against reactive oxygen species (ROS). Especially, Sargassum thunbergii methanolic extract at 70°C (70ME, 97.41%), S. fulvellum methanolic extract at 20°C (20ME, 84.66%), Codium fragile aqueous extract at 70°C (70AE, 96.61%) and S. thunbergii 20ME (97.44%) exhibited the highest scavenging activities against O2 ·–, HO·, H2O2 and DPPH free radicals, respectively. Total phenolic contents also examined but did not show a positive correlation with ROS scavenging abilities (except for a few extracts). These results indicate that further investigation is needed to identify and purify the responsible antioxidative components.

        리니악 사진의 영상 개선에 관한 연구

        Lineacgrams are diagnostic films taken using X-ray from the linear accelerator with the patient in the treatment position to assure that the treatment is being delivered in accordance with the treatment prescription. But the image quality of the lineacgram is so bad because of the high X-ray energy. This paper presents a new algorithm that enhances the image of lineacgram. Thls algorithm calculates optimal threshold value which is used for segmentation of lineacgram using co-occurrence matrix and enhances the image Inside and outside treatment area preserving treatments boundary.

        아동의 모애착과 삶의 만족의 관계에서 희망의 매개효과 검증

        본 연구는 아동을 대상으로 모애착과 삶의 만족의 관계에서 희망이 매개효과를 갖는지를 알아보았다. 본 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 만 11~12세 남녀 초등학생 293이 응답한 자료를 사용하여 구조방정식 모형 분석을 하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 아동의 모애착은 삶의 만족을 유의하게 예측하였다. 둘째, 아동의 모애착은 희망을 유의하게 예측하였다. 셋째, 희망은 삶의 만족을 유의하게 예측하였다. 넷째, 아동의 모애착과 삶의 만족의 관계는 희망에 의하여 매개되었다. 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 아동 내담자의 상담실제와 부모교육에 대한 시사점, 제한점과 추후 연구의 제언을 논의하였다. The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of hope on the relationship between attachment to mother and life satisfaction in children. For this purpose, a structural equation model was developed to analyze the data collected from 293 elementary school students aged 11-12. The major findings are as follows. First, attachment to mother significantly predicted life satisfaction in children. Second, attachment to mother significantly predicted hope in children. Third, hope significantly predicted life satisfaction in children. Fourth, hope partially mediated the relationship between attachment to mother and life satisfaction in children. Based on these findings, this study concludes with implications for counseling practices with child clients and parents education, addressing limitations and proposals for further research.

        불편문화유산(Difficult Heritage)의 해석과 관리-1980년대와 1990년대 조선총독부 청사의 보존과 철거 과정을 중심으로

        1996년 말, 완전 철거된 조선총독부 청사는 해방 이후 식민지배와 관련된 건축물의 유산적 가치 해석과 관리에 있어 가장 상징적인 사례라고 할 수 있다. 1980년대 전두환 정부는 조선총독부 청사를 국립중앙박물관으로 전환하는 계획을 수립하며, ‘일제 잔재를 청산’하기 위하여 해당 건물의 식민지배 역사를 교훈적, 교육적으로 활용 및 기념하고자 하였다. 이와 반대로 1990년대 경복궁 복원 계획과 함께 조선총독부 청사의 완전 철거 계획을 수립하면서, 김영삼 정부는 부정적인 역사와 관련된 조선총독부의 완전 철거를 통해 해방 이후 미뤄져왔던 ‘일제 잔재를 청산’하고자 하였다. 이처럼 부정적인 역사 및 기억과 관련된 불편문화유산(Difficult Heritage)라고 할 수 있는 조선총독부 청사의 사례에서 교훈적 의미를 강조한 긍정적인 재생과 고의적인 제거를 통해 부정적인 역사를 지우고자 한, 불편문화유산의 두 가지 접근법이 나타나고 있음을 알 수 있다. 그렇지만 각각의 접근법 모두 해당 건물을 바라보는 다른 시각을 포용적으로 받아들이지 못했다는 점에서 한계를 가진다. 이렇듯 변화하는 사회적, 시대적 요구에 따라 (불편)문화유산의 가치와 의미에 대한 해석은 달라질 수 있지만, 무엇보다 중요한 것은 다양한 가치와 의미가 대화와 기록을 통해 공존할 수 있는 유산 해석 환경을 만들어 나가는 것이라고 할 수 있을 것이다.

        요양급여의 허위ㆍ부정청구 - 사례연구 중심으로 -

        First introduced in 1977, Korean health care system reached to national coverage in short period of time never seen before in any other countries, and rated as successful system protecting the health of the public at relatively low price. However, despite those positive evaluations, some of fraudulent medical organizations or pharmacies are hindering the sound development of the national health care system with meticulous false billing exaggerating the number of patients or the days of their treatment. To prevent aforementioned nursing home fraud and false billing, the misconduct should be punished as subject to the criminal law and severally punished for fines and payments which far exceed the expected amount of illicit gains as it is basically violation of criminal fraud, other than the forced return of illicit gains based on civil laws. Furthermore, the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service should strengthen and complement the fraud investigators, the review process, and the professional training to raise the detection rates. It might also want to review ways to implement whistleblower rewarding system and rewards for evidences of healthcare fraud to overcome the limits of external review.

        Antioxidant Effect of Enzymatic Hydrolyzate from a Kelp, Ecklonia cava

        The potential antioxidative activity of water-soluble enzymatic hydrolyzates from a kelp, Ecklonia cava was evaluated by free radical scavenging and lipid peroxidation assays. To prepare water-soluble hydrolyzates from E. cava the seaweed was enzymatically hydrolyzed by five carbohydrases (Viscozyme, Celluclast, AMG, Termamyl and Ultraflo) and five proteases (Protamex, Kojizyme, Neutrase, Flavourzyme and Alcalase). Among all the hydrolyzates, Celluclast hydrolyzate effectively scavenged free radicals released from DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2- pricrylhydrazyl) and recorded around 73% scavenging activity at the concentration of 4 mg ·ml–1. This hydrolyzate was thermally stable and DPPH radical scavenging activity remained 80% or higher at heating temperatures of 40 and 60°C up to 12 h and around 80% at 100°C up to 8 h. AMG and Ultraflo hydrolyzate inhibited the lipid peroxidation of fish oil as that of α-tocopherol. These results suggested that an enzymatic extraction will be an effective way for the production of a potential antioxidant from seaweeds.

        적외선을 이용한 생체신호의 원격측정에 관한 연구

        Recently, interest in infra-red(IR) telemetry has increased because of the entirely different propagation and reflection properties of IR light as compared to radiowaves. IR hardly penetrates most materials and is reflected from obstacles. An biotelemetry system using these characteristics of indirect transmitted IR lights was developed, in which 3 ECG's are multiplexed and modulated in PDM/PIM pulse sequence. This proto-type system enables us to realize the non-restraint measurement of biological signals. Compared with conventional radio telemetry, this technique has some merits such as no electromagnetic interference, no frequency allocation problem, no government control over transmission power.
