        관련성이론에 의한 호스피탈리티영어의 양상동사 의미 분석

        Language is communicated through discourse which is consisted of texts between a speaker and a hearer. A text has been defined as the unit beyond a sentence by linguists. A text can be described in terms of textuality which identifies the property and characteristics of a text. This paper aims to describe modality which is uttered in hospitality English on the basis of the relevance theory. This paper shows the meaning and functions of English modal verbs used in the hospitality English represent various meanings relying on the discourse contexts. And we suggest that the meaning and function of modal verbs based on the relevance theory have to be taught to the learners in Hospitality English.

        호텔관광영어의 텍스트성 분석

A text can be described in terms of textuality which identifies the property and characteristics of a text. This paper aims to describe textuality which is uttered in hotel and tourism English on the basis of seven criteria(cohesion, coherence, intentionality, acceptability, informativity, situationalty, and intertextuality) suggested by Beaugrande and Dressler(1981). This paper shows all the seven kinds of the textuality mentioned above are used in the hotel and tourism English discourse. And we suggest that the seven criteria of textuality have to be taught to the learners in hotel and tourism English for the effective learning of hotel and tourism English.

      • 호텔·관광영어의 효과적인 교육방안 연구

        Modern trends in language teaching approaches have been changed from the teacher oriented to the learner oriented. Studies of language syllabi and their application to the foreign language classes might play an important role in foreign language teaching and learning. The aim of this paper aims at arranging some foreign language teaching methods and syllabi concerning with hotel and tourism English as ESP and proposing effective approaches and syllabi for teaching hotel and tourism English. Some elements of audio-lingual approaches might be applied to the basic level along with Yalden's CS type I. And for the intermediate level, communication oriented teaching method and Yalden's CS type Ⅵ help the learners to learn hotel and tourism English effectively. It can be suggested that English teachers and syllabus designers consider the learners' attitude and needs and social needs. The syllabi and teaching materials designed on the basis of the needs will foster the learner's communicative competence with abilities to do well any jobs and duties confronted at hotel and tourism related industries.

        This paper aims at analyzing and describing of English discourse particles well, ok, oh, uh which are found frequently in Hotel and Tourism English interactive utterances. The meaning of English discourse particles are natural to be clarified by the social culture and the context of the utterance. The English discourse particle well is used as a signpost to carry the meaning like recognition, support, expectation, retort. inadequacy, refusal, insult, correction, delay, the topic statrter, the topic shifter, and the topic ending mark.. The meaning of English discourse particle Ok is characterized in approval, recognition, hesitant reaction, speaker's self editing, and the end of topic. The English discourse particle Oh means unknown fact recognition, feeling exposure, and expectation fulfillment. The English discourse particle Uh means agreement, disagreement, hesitation, and topic shifter.

      • 참여적 리더십이 상사 신뢰에 미치는 영향: 상사의 능력 및 부하의 권력거리성향의 조절효과를 중심으로

        과거 경영환경이 안정적일 때에는 Top-Down 방식의 경영이 일반적이었지만, 환경이 복잡해지고 변화가 빨라짐에 따라서 Top-Down 방식의 경영에서 벗어나 현장에서 답을 찾으려는 경영방식이 자리잡게 되었다. 이러한 변화는 리더십에도 생겼는데, 대표적인 예가 바로 참여적 리더십의 등장과 확산이다. 참여적 리더십은 민주적 경영과 부하들의 내재적 동기부여에 큰 도움이 되기 때문에 지금까지 연구에서 거의 예외없이 모든 경우에 효과성이 뛰어난 리더십이라고 받아들여지고 있다. 리더십 연구의 큰 흐름 중의 하나가 바로 리더십 상황이론인데, 참여적 리더십도 리더십 상황이론 관점에서 보면, 참여적 리더십의 효과가 제대로 발휘되는 경우도 있겠지만, 반대로 참여적 리더십의 효과가 제대로 발휘되지 않게 되는 상황도 고려할 수 있다. 그런데, 지금까지의 참여적 리더십에 대한 연구를 살펴보면, 참여적 리더십의 효과가 제대로 발휘될 수 있는 조건 혹은 참여적 리더십의 효과가 발휘되지 않거나 혹은 도리어 부정적 효과가 야기되는 상황에 대한 연구가 거의 없는 상태이다. 이런 연구 배경 하에 본 연구는 리더십 효과성을 대표하는 변수로 상사에 대한 신뢰를 선택하고, 참여적 리더십과 상사신뢰 간 관계에 영향을 미치는 상황요인에 대해서 살펴보고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 사회적 교환이론에 바탕을 두고, 참여적 리더십과 상사신뢰 간 관계에서 부하가 인지한 상사의 능력과 부하의 권력거리의 조절효과를 살펴보았다. 이를 위해서 본 연구는 중국 중소기업 및 공공기관 조사에 종사중인 305명의 종업원에게 설문지를 배포하고, 총 305부를 회수하였고, 86부의 부실응답을 제외한 뒤, 최종적으로 219부의 설문 자료를 통해서 관계를 검증하였다. 분석결과, 참여적 리더십은 상사신뢰에 정(+)의 효과를 미쳤고, 상사의 능력과 부하의 권역거리성향이 상사신뢰에 정(+)의 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났다.. 또한 참여적 리더십과 상사신뢰 간 관계에서 상사의 능력의 조절효과를 보였지만 권력거리성향의 조절효과가 유의하지 않다고 확인하였다. 이상과 같은 결과를 놓고, 이 연구의 이론적 그리고 실무적 함의점에 대해서 논의하였다. Top-down management was prevalent when the business environment was stable and simple. However, participative or bottom-up management was adopted more as the business environment became more unstable and complicated. Leadership style also followed these trends, and participative leadership became widely spread. Participative leadership is known to be very effective because of its democratic nature and intrinsic motivation enhancing function. Therefore, participative leadership is accepted to be effective regardless of the situation. A concrete approach in leadership research like leadership contingency theory argues that a leadership style"s effectiveness may be strengthened or weak depending on the situation. Despite this leadership contingency theory, most researchers do not focus on the contingent factors that may strengthen or weaken its effectiveness. In this vein, we are to explore the contingent factors that may influence the effectiveness of participative leadership. Based on the social exchange theory, we focused on the leaders" ability perceived by subordinates and subordinates" power distance orientation as the potential moderators. For this research, a total of 219 surveys were collected from corporate and public authority surveys in China and were statistically analyzed by SPSS 25.0. The results of this study are as follows. First, participative leadership has a positive impact on trust in a leader. Additionally, the leader"s ability and the subordinates" power distance orientation have a positive impact on the trust in leadership. Second, when the leader"s ability is satisfactory, participative leadership plays a positive role in moderating the trust in a leader, but the subordinate"s power distance orientation does not. These results suggest that the leader"s ability perceived by subordinates is crucial for the effectiveness of participative leadership. Based on these results, we discussed the theoretical and practical implications.

        English has been an international language in the field of trade, hospitality industries and other areas. English, which has its origin in England, has been developed and grown in the United States. The U.S. has had great influence on the world since the World War II. As a result, English has played a key role as an international language. In the U.S., English has been changed and has its own features as American English. Learners in Hospitality English classes are sometimes confused because of the differences between British English and American English. Comparison and Differences of British English and American English are described in this paper. This paper argues for the teaching of differences in British English and American English to foster the effect of Hospitality English teaching.
