A silicon-on-insulator ring resonator was designed, and whispering gallery modes (WGMs) that developed in the ring were characterized numerically using the finite element method with COMSOL Multiphysics software. This study focused mainly on the perturbation of WGM resonance caused by the Ag nanoparticles placed on the top surface of the ring resonator. The peak shifts and the peak splittings of the TE11 and the TM01 WGM modes were monitored by varying the nanoparticle size in the range of 30 - 130 nm. When the nanoparticle was placed at a position where the electric fields of the TM01 mode were maximized, the plots of the peak shift and the peak splitting as functions of the nanoparticle size showed a sharp dip at approximately 58 nm. Possible causes are discussed.
Li을 첨가한 $MgTiO_3$-$CaTiO_3$계 세라믹 유전체의 마이크로파 유전특성

The microwave dielectric properties and a sintering behavior of MgTiO$_3$-CaTiO$_3$ ceramics doped with Li were investigated. The main composition was fixed as 0.94MMgTiO$_3$-0.06CaTiO$_3$ and Li$_2$CO$_3$was added excessively in the range of 0~10 mol% (with reference to Li atoms) and the specimens were sintered at 1200~140$0^{\circ}C$ for 4 hours. When the amount of Li was small the quality factor and dielectric constant were reduced, while those tow properties increased if the Li amount was above 1 mol%. But if Li was overly added those dielectric properties decreased again. Li, if added in the composition range of 1.0~3.0 mol%, can increase the quality factor of MgTiO$_3$-CaTiO$_3$ ceramics. The optimum amount of Li was 1.5mol% and sinterign condition was 1275$^{\circ}C$/4hr, at which we cudl obtain following results ; dielectric constant ($\varepsilon$$_{r}$) of f20.0, quality factor(Qxf$_{0}$) of 78,000 GHz and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency($\tau$$_{f}$) of -1.6 ppm/$^{\circ}C$.>.>.>.
Analysis of ITO on Polymer Substrate by External Bending Force

In this paper, we investigated the island density-dependent stress distribution of indium-tin-oxide (ITO) film on polycarbonate substrate by external bending force. We used e-beam and RF-sputter for SiON, ITO sputtering. It was found that there are influence of island density on the substrate and decreasing crack density as goes to the minimum density. From the result that crack density was increasing at maximum island density, it is evident that more stress is imposed on same island position as island density.
고온 전자빔 증착에 의한 Ethylene Terephthalate상의 SiOx 박막의 특성 평가

In this paper, we investigated the characterization of silicon oxide(SiOx) thin film on Ethylene Terephthalate(PET) substrates by e-beam deposition for transparent barrier application. The temperature of chamber increases from $30^{\circ}C$ to $110^{\circ}C$, the roughness increase while the Water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) decreases. Under these conditions, the WVTR for PET can be reduced from a level of $0.57 g/m^2/day$ (bare subtrate) to $0.05 g/m^2/day$ after application of a 200-nm-thick $SiO_2$ coating at 110 C. A more efficient way to improve permeation of PET was carried out by using a double side coating of a 5-${\mu}m$-thick parylene film. It was found that the WVTR can be reduced to a level of $-0.2 g/m^2/day$. The double side parylene coating on PET could contribute to the lower stress of oxide film, which greatly improves the WVTR data. These results indicates that the $SiO_2$ /Parylene/PET barrier coatings have high potential for flexible organic light-emitting diode(OLED) applications.
두부규격방사선사진과 측두하악관절 단층방사선사진 계측치간의 상관관계

Purpose : To examine whether the maxillofacial skeletal morphology correlates with the condylar position and the anatomic characteristics of articular eminence using measurements of lateral cephalometric radiographs and individualized sagittal temporomandibular joint (TMJ) tomographs. Materials and Methods : I compared measurements of 202 TMJs of 101 orthodontic patients of Kangnung National University Dental Hospital. I used Pearson's correlation for comparison of the measuring values in lateral cephalometric radiographs and individualized sagittal TMJ tomographs. Results : Large occlusal plane angle tendency showed decreased width of posterior eminence slope, decreased depth of articular fossa and decreased posterior slope angle of eminence. Large mandibular plane angle tendency showed decreased superior joint space, decreased depth of articular fossa and decreased posterior slope angle of eminence. Large gonial angle tendency showed decreased depth of articular fossa, decreased posterior slope angle of eminence and anterior position of condylar head. Large anterior facial height and large posterior facial height tendency showed increased width of posterior slope of eminence, increased depth of articular fossa, increased posterior slope angle of eminence and posterior position of condylar head. Conclusion Maxillofacial skeletal morphology has correlation with the anatomic characteristics of TMJ. Individualized sagittal TMJ tomographs can provide useful information for anatomical analysis of TMJ. (Korean J Oral Maxillofac Radiol 2007; 37: 19-26)
