Slurry pumps have a wide range of industrial applications. However, as slurries contain abrasive and erosive solid particles, slurry pump components are subjected to severe wear and the pump system may even fail. Numerical simulations for developing a slurry pump model with 4 plate-type rotors were conducted using water as the pumping fluid. A commercial CFD package, STAR-CCD+, was used to simulate the flow characteristics depending on the atmospheric pressure through the inlet boundary. It is found that the simulation results are available in qualitatively studying the correlation of flow behaviors for a better pump design.

The objective of this study is to experimentally investigate the fine bubble behavior of an annular nozzle ejector for cleaning application. The experimental apparatus consisted of an electric motor-pump, an annular nozzle ejector, a circulation water tank, a high speed camera unit and controlling or measuring accessories. The visualization images of horizontally injected mixed flow issuing from the ejector were analyzed qualitatively. The mixed flow in the mixing tube and diffuser showed the annular flow or bubbly flow with the mass ratio. The mixed flow in the water tank showed the buoyancy jet or horizontal jet with the mass ratio. As the mass ratio decreases the penetration length increases.

The objective of this study is to investigate the air entrainment characteristics of a water-air ejector. The ejector consists of a primary nozzle, a suction tube, a parallel mixing tube and a diffuser. Experimental parameters are the primary nozzle diameter and position, the mixing tube length, the divergent angle and length of diffuser and the primary fluid pressure. The air entrainment ratio increased with the mixing tube length and the primary fluid flow rate, while the ratio decreased with the primary nozzle diameter and the divergent angle of diffuser. The air entrainment ratio increased with the primary nozzle position and the diffuser length, but the extent of the increase was relatively low compared to the values of the mixing tube length and the primary fluid flow rate.

이 연구는 RPSD시스템의 양쪽 끝에 연결되어 있는 세 가지 종류의 와이어로프에 대한 안전성에 대한 결과를 해석하였다. 양쪽 끝을 고정한 것과 여러 개의 도르래를 사용하여 연결한 상태로 일정한 하중을 적용하여 와이어로프의 변위량을 측정한 결과 양끝을 고정한 것 보다 여러 개의 도르래를 사용한 와이어의 변형이 작았으며 하중을 가할 때 특별한 와이어로프의 변위량은 없는 것으로 설정하였다. 그 결과 6mm의 와이어로프의 변위가 4.83mm로 가장 작았으며, 여러 개의 도르래를 사용한 와이어로프의 변위량이 가장 적음을 확인할 수 있었다. This study shows the results of safety analysis obtained from the three different wire rope connections in the RPSD (Rope Platform Screen Door) system, which are the rope connected at both ends, the ropes connected by a pulley at both ends, and the ropes connected by many pulleys at both ends. With a constant load applied, the displacements in the ropes connected by a pulley at both ends and the ropes connected by many pulleys at both ends are smaller than that in the rope connected at both ends. There are no any special different displacements between the ropes connected by a pulley at both ends and the ropes connected by many pulleys at both ends. The displacement in the wire rope diameter of 6mm is smallest of 4.83mm and the strains from the displacements in the ropes connected by a pulley at both ends and the ropes connected by many pulleys at both ends are very small.

The experimental study for a vertical mixed flow with an orifice nozzle was performed to investigate the effect of input power on the hydrodynamic and mass transfer characteristics. The input power to pump the primary fluid was calculated by directly measuring the electric voltage and current. It was found that the volumetric mass transfer coefficient increased with increasing the specific input power and Froude number, while the mass transfer efficiency decreased. The orifice nozzle with smaller nozzle area ratio and diffuser angle has the higher value of mass transfer efficiency. The empirical power fit correlations for the volumetric mass transfer coefficient was proposed to estimate the effect of experimental parameters.
