        Surgical Treatment of Pathological Fractures Occurring at the Proximal Femur

        Purpose: To analyze the results of surgical treatment for pathological fractures at the proximal femur. Materials and Methods: Nineteen patients with a pathologicalfracture were included. The mean age was 65.7 years old. The patients comprised8 males and 11 females. Primary tumors, types of pathological fractures, surgical procedures, and postoperative complications were recorded. MusculoskeletalTumor Society (MSTS) functional score was used for functional evaluation. A Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was used to determine survival rate. Results:The primary malignancies were 6 cases of breast cancer, 3 cases of lung cancer, 3 cases of renal cell carcinoma, 2 cases of cholangiocarcinoma, 2 cases of hepatocellular carcinoma, 1 case of esophageal cancer, 1 case of colon cancer, and 1 case of ovarian cancer. Pathological fractures included 8 cases of pertrochantericfractures and 11 cases of subtrochanteric fractures. Intramedullary nailingwas performed in 10 cases, and joint replacement surgery was performed in 9 cases. Postoperative complications included local recurrence in 1 case, infection in 1 case, and nail breakage in 1 case. The mean postoperative MSTS score was 21. The mean survival period was 10.6 months. Patient survival rates were 42.1% after 6 months, 26.3% after 12 months, and 10.5% after 24 months. Conclusion: Surgical treatment of pathological fractures at the proximal femur provided early ambulation, and excellent pain relief. The surgery was well tolerated emotionally. Surgery is necessary for improving the quality of life in such patients; however, more cases of pathological fractures in these regions should be subjected to detailed analysis.

        조리외식전공 대학생들의 외식 창업동기가 창업교육만족, 자기효능감이 창업의도에 미치는 영향 :성별 조절효과

        In this study, a survey was conducted on college students who had received education on food service entrepreneurship at the culinary and catering college and wished to start a business. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the motivation to start a restaurant business had a significant effect on the satisfaction of entrepreneurship education, but it did not appear to have a significant effect on the sense of self-efficacy. . In addition, self-efficacy was found to have a significant effect on entrepreneurial intention, and it was confirmed that both men and women played a moderating role in the relationship between entrepreneurship education satisfaction and self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intention. 본 연구는 조리외식전공 대학에서 외식 창업 교육을 받고, 창업을 희망하는 대학생들을 대상으로 설문조사를 시행하였다. 분석 결과, 외식 창업동기는 창업교육만족에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났지만, 자기효능감에는 유의한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났고 창업교육만족은 자기효능감과 창업의도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 자기효능감은 창업의도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고 창업교육만족 및 자기효능감과 창업의도 관계에서 남여 모두에서 조절역할을 하는 것으로 확인되었다.

        Toxicity of chlorpyrifos‐methyl to Sitophilus zeamais collected in Korea and biochemical differences

        In this study, lethal concentration (LC50) values of chlorpyrifos‐methyl (CPM) were determined for two Korean strains (CBNU and KNU) of Sitophilus zeamais. The two strains had similar susceptibilities (1.70 and 1.86 μg a.i./cm2, respectively) to CPM. Carboxylesterase (CE) activity was twice as high in the CBNU strain as in the KNU strain. Lower acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity was also noted in the latter; however, the activity of glutathione S‐transferase (GST) was twice as high as in the CBNU strain. Gel electrophoresis of CE of crude extracts from adults of the two strains of S. zeamais showed clearly different band patterns, with molecular weights of 60 kDa and 71 kDa in the CBNU and KNU strains, respectively. MALDI‐TOF MS/MS was used to profile small proteins (less than 10 kDa), with results indicating that 206 proteins are expressed differently in the two strains. The peak of interest of 2247.7 m/z was applied to TOF‐TOF MS and its de novo peptide sequence was identified as a tyrosine phosphatase fragment. Phospholipids from the two strains were analyzed and 34 phospholipids were found to be significantly different between strains. Results suggest that the two strains collected from Korea showed different biochemical results, presumably differences in insecticide selection by different living locations.

        Friction Characteristics of CNx Coated Dimple Pattern with Hexagonal Array

        In this study, we examined the friction characteristics of a dimple pattern on a carbon nitride coating. The study was conducted with a hexagonal array 40 ${\mu}m$ dimple pattern on a steel bearing containing a CNx coating. The area density of the dimple patterns were varied between 5% and 25%, the speed was varied from 0.06-0.26 m/s, and the load was varied between 20-100N. In general, we found that as the velocity increased, the friction coefficient increased. Furthermore, the friction coefficient was lowest at a load of 40N. The friction coefficient of the non-coated specimen was 0.025-0.15; on the other hand, the friction coefficient of the coated specimen was 0.002-0.02. Thus, we determined that the coated materials could reduce the friction coefficient by a factor of 7.5.

        Tribology Characteristics of Hexagonal Shape Surface Textured Reduction Gear in Electric Agricultural Vehicle

        An experimental study was conducted on the wear and friction responses in sliding tests of a micro-textured surface on laser pattern (LP) steel as reduction gear material in electric guided vehicle. In this research, the friction characteristics of laser pattern steel under different micro texture density conditions were investigated. The friction tests were carried out at sliding speeds of 0.06 m/s to 0.34 m/s and at normal loads of 2 to 10 N. Photolithography method was used to create the dimples for surface texturing purpose. Four different specimens having different dimple densities of 10%, 12.5%, 15%, and 20% were observed respectively.In this research, friction conditions as shown in Stribeck curve were investigated. Furthermore, the microscopic surface was observed using scanning electron microscope. It was found that the dimple density had a significant role on the friction characteristics of laser pattern steel conditioned as reduction gear material in an agricultural vehicle. The duty number showed that the friction condition was hydrodynamic regime. The best performance was obtained from 12.5% dimple density with lowest friction coefficient achieved at 0.018771 under the velocity of 0.34 m/s and 10N load.
