The main purpose of this study is to develope a Simulator for Central Traffic Controller(CTC) which can check the operating status of CTC and support the maintenance procedure. The simulator supervise the CTC processor units and the data transmission between the CTC modules and the railway station equipments to define the validity of system functions and notify whether the eqipments are good or not. With the help of the simulator we could detect the error of CTC equipments easily, repair the faults efficiently, and improve the reliability of CTC system.
자동열차제어장치 AF궤도회로 S-BOND의 사용신뢰도 분석

This paper presents a reliability analysis of S-bonds for AF track circuits, which detect train movement and transmit a speed control signal to the train. Field survey shows that S-bonds are exposed to very large vibrations transferred from rail, and suffer from frequent failures when they were installed on ballasted track. We collected the time-to-failure data of S-bonds from the maintenance field of Seoul metro line 2, and made a parametric approach to estimate the statistical distribution that fits the time-to-failure data. The analysis shows that S-bonds have time-to-failure characteristics described by Weibull distribution. The estimated shape parameter of Weibull distribution is 1.1, which means the distribution has constant failure rate characteristics like exponential distribution. The reliability function, hazard function, percentiles and mean lifetime are derived for maintenance support.
수명데이터를 이용한 직류 견인전동기 MTBF 분석에 관한 연구

The failure occurrences of DC traction motors used at Seoul metropolitan subway lines are investigated over 9 years from 1996 to 2004 by analysing the replacement records of the motor assemblies during maintenance works. Based on the nine year"s failure data of DC traction motors collected from maintenance field, the reliability index of MTBF(Mean Time Between Failures) has been calculated. It amounts to that the MTBF of the stator extends to 19 years while that of the rotators extends to 17 years. The MTBF values and reliability evaluation scheme can be applied to maintenance works and regulation of the length of life.

This paper describes the lightning protection system for railway signaling equipments installed at subway car depots in Seoul metropolitan Rapid Transit Cooperation. Several measures for improving lightning protection performance are adopted; newly organized grounding system for neutral line of power system, rolling method to minimize damages induced by direct lightning strike, new measures to reduce voltage differences between the signaling equipments and the ground, and improvement of grounding system. The proposed system has greatly reduced the grounding resistance and also the voltage difference between the signaling equipments and the ground, and has prevented the accident related with lightning surges since it was installed. The proposed approach can be viewed as a useful alternative of dealing with lightning protection for railway signaling equipments.
무선통신기반 열차제어시스템의 무선시스템 설계에 대한 검토(2)

CBTC(Communication Based Train Control) System has many superior train control performances than conventional track-circuit-based train control system with higher train operation efficiency, and less installation and maintenance cost. It is expected that CBTC will replace the conventional train control systems in near future. As CBTC has different mechanisms from conventional track-circuit-based train control systems in identifying train positions, and communicating information between train and ground facility, we have to pay a earful attention to making the interface between CBTC equipments and other signalling devices. This paper provides the construction of the interface between CBTC equipment and other signalling equipments such as TTC(Total traffic Control) system, ATO, electronic interlocking devices.

This paper gives a basic data of improving the performance of railroad signalling equipment by adopting GPS and wireless telecommunication technologies. These approach enable the moving block control of train, which can optimize train operation by reducing the distance between trains and maximize the railroad capacity. These method of detecting train position and controling train movement can also improve the train route control at stations.
