The purpose of the study was to investigate the relationship between the different kinematical variables with respect to the records and techniques performed by the participants during the 2011 Daegu IAAF World Championships Men``s Pole Vault Event. Subjects chosen for the study were 8 male athletes who were selected for men’s pole vault finals (highly skilled group) and 7 athletes who scored lowest record (skilled group) from the men’s pole vault qualifying round. Personal best record of the each subjects were chosen to perform two dimensional (2D) and three dimensional (3D) video analyses. The data were obtained at 60 Hz with the use of five video cameras and digitizing was performed. Kinematical variables were calculated after smoothing the data using 2nd order Low-Pass Butterworth filter at cut-off frequency of 10 Hz and Independent samples t-test was performed to test any differences between two subject groups. The results: during the run-up stage, the horizontal velocity rate of the number of steps and run-up phase was obtained higher in highly skilled group than skilled group. During the take-off phase, deceleration in the horizontal velocity rate was observed in highly skilled group than skilled group. Distinct technical characteristics of distant and lower take-off of the take-off angle (angle of pole support) were also observed in highly skilled group than skilled group. During the pole bending and releasing phase, horizontal velocity was generally higher in highly skilled group than skilled group. It is considered that highly skilled group was able to jump higher as the vertical velocity during the pole bending as well as release phase was much higher in comparison to the skilled group.

The purpose of this study was to compare the kinematic analyses of the women`s pole vault skills difference between skilled group (1st to 8th place) and less skilled group (10th to 15th place) who participated in IAAF World Championships Daegu 2011. To achieve this goal, 16 women`s pole vault player`s kinematic analyses was conducted. Player`s best performance was recorded by five normal video cameras operating at 60 Hz. The results of this study through the research procedures above are as follows. First, Skilled group`s average step length and the ratio of step length to her height were longer than less skilled`s group in runup phase. Second, Skilled group`s horizontal velocity was faster than less Skilled group`s results. And pole plant angle was lower than less Skilled group`s results in take-off phase. Third, Maximum pole flexion angle did not show difference of between two groups in pole bending phase. However, Skilled group`s vertical velocity was higher than less skilled group`s results.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the physical performance and develop the criteria of 4243 middle and high school students across 5 provinces (Busan, Gwangju, Daejeon, Gyeongi and Jeonbuk) in Korea that took part in the talent development project. The data was collected between 2011 and 2014. The criteria was divided by gender and age across different grades, and the mean, standard deviation and 5 evaluation levels were calculated and analyzed.

Using Akaiv system, video tapes on 74 foreign wrestling athletes (competitors) were converted to moving picture-files, and classified - summarized according to the weight categories and individuals. Their skill-characteristics were analyzed biomechanically. And physical, mental and skill characteristics of 8 Korea national representative wrestling athletes were analyzed using old data and informations from wrestling specialists and coaches. The skill-characteristics of foreign competitors were used as background to extract competing strategies for our team. The strategies were focused to overcome the competitors in the games, and finally to get gold medal in 2004 Athens Olympic Games. The files and DB on those were used to study and memory the skill-characteristics of foreign competitors for our team. And the skill-characteristics of foreign competitors were used to check the aim of daily training. Despite of the lack of scientific and systematic structures, this study was useful in wrestling training fields. That is based on that skill characteristics of foreign competitors were appeared several times in Olympic Games and that the descriptions have possibilities to make the games more winning sides by using more effectively and aggressively. But quantitative analyses and objective criteria will make the research more advanced and usefully.

Fifty female students repeated 11 trials across a force platform by jogging. Force data were collected on-line at 1,000 Hz and analyzed for the magnitude and temporal characteristics of vertical ground reaction force (G.R.F.). Multiple regression analysis was used to study the relationship between the magnitude of these kinetic data and anthropometric data for their size & volume taken from measurement of the subjects. The results support the general conclusion that anthropometric variables are significant effectors of the magnitude of vertical ground reaction force. The coefficient of determination of circumference variable is most and length variable is least among 3 anthropometric variables. And circumference variable affects passive parts of vertical ground reaction force rather than active ones. In addition mass variable shows very significant in the two impulses rather than two peak forces.

The purpose of this study was to perform the kinematic analyses of the women`s pole vault skills in IAAF World Championships Daegu 2011. Subjects were the 1st through 8th place finishers in the pole vault. The kinematic analyses were divided into four phases: two dimensional run up analysis, and three dimensional analyses for the remaining plant, swing up, and extension phases. Run-up variables consisted of run up distance, number of steps, average step length, ratio of step length to height, average velocity at the final 5~10 m, approach position. Three variables were analyzed during plant: pole angle, center of gravity (COG) velocity, and COG takeoff angle. Swing up phase variables included: pole flection angle, COG velocity (horizontal, vertical, resultant), COG trajectory and bar approach angle of COG. Compared to the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, the average vault height increased, while run up velocity and approach position were almost unchanged. However, horizontal velocity during the last two steps of the final approach decreased noticeably compared to speeds from 1990. These results reflect the change in both technique and physical fitness in pole vaulters. During extension, the peak height of COG surpassed the clearance height by an average of 0.11m. These specific results can help coaches and athletes modify training and improve performance.

The purpose of this study was to examine whether the percent body fat was related to the level of physical fitness in Korean men. The subjects were men aged between 19 and 64 years (n = 2,419) who participated National Fitness Award in Korea between May 2012 and October 2012. They were divided into 3 groups: those with <20% body fat, 20-25% body fat, and >25% body fat. The physical fitness tests consisted of grip strength, sit-ups, a progressive aerobic cardiovascular endurance run (PACER), sit-and-reach, shuttle run, and standing long jump. The inter-group differences in physical fitness level were analyzed by one-way analysis of variance via Tukey post-hoc test. The results indicated that compared to the <20% body fat group, the 20-25% body fat group (overweight group) and >25% body fat group (obese group) had a lower fitness level as judged by grip strength, sit-ups, the PACER, sit-and-reach, shuttle run, and standing long jump (p<.05). We concluded that among adult Korean men, fitness level was lower in those with a higher percentage of body fat than in those with lower percentage of body fat.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of factors associated with points and the difference among weight categories after the revision of wrestling competition rules from video images. Factors associated with points were average point per a game, average points according to playing type, the occurring frequency of point according to the skills, the frequency and successful ratio of Parter, and the time zone of points occurred. The video contents were concerned on athletes ranked in 1 - 5 (6 person) at 59, 66, 75 Kg categories of Greco-Roman style in the 2014, 2015 World Wrestling Championship. The analysis was done by watching TV monitor several times. Five quantitative factors were tested between weight categories. As the results, no significant difference was found in average obtained point, but significant difference was found in average lost point (p<.05). Average obtained point showed significant difference in cross effect of the type of game and weight category. And average lost point showed significant difference in the type of game (p<.01) and weight category (p<.05), too. The frequency of point by skills of stand and ground wrestling showed significant difference in weight category (p<.001). However, no significant difference was found in frequency of point by time zone among weight categories. In conclusion, the point obtained and lost and the frequency of it are associated with the type of game and skills included in it of Greco-Roman style wrestling. New training program focused on enforcing the correct type of game and skills in it might be useful for developing the performance.
