This study was designed to investigate the marginal accuracy of resin temporary crown with different matrix in indirect technique. Matrices were made from irreversible hydrocolloid impression material, putty type of vinyl polysiloxane silicone rubber and vacuum formed plastic sheet. The marginal discrepancies of the temporary crowns were measured using a measuring microscope. The obtained results were as follows 1. The marginal accuracy temporary crown using vinyl polysiloxane silicone rubber or vacuum formed plastic form was better than that of the temporary crown using irreversible hydrocolloid impression material. 2. The marginal accuracies of the temporary crown using the irreversible hydrocolloid impression material and putty type of the vinyl polysiloxane silicone rubber obtained the best results at the distal measuring point. 3. The vacuum formed plastic form was recorded a more acceptable marginal accuracy at the distal and mesial measuring points.

변연형태에 따른 IPS Empress 도재관의 적합도에 관한 연구

The purpose of this study was to compare the fitness of the IPS Empress ceramic crowns according to margin type such as bevel, shoulder, rounded shoulder, shoulder with bevel, rounded shoulder with bevel and grooved bevel. After 10 experimental dies were constructed for each group, the IPS Empress ceramic crowns were fabricated on the dies, cemented with resin cement(Bistite resin cement, Tokuyama Soda Co. Ltd., Japan) and embeded in clear epoxy resin. Each specimen was sectioned with a low speed diamond saw in both the faciopalatal and the mesiodistal direction. The cement film thickness was measured with a measuring microscope. The obtained results were as follows : 1. The fitness at the external margin was good in the following order: rounded shoulder(28.99), shoulder with bevel(31.33), grooved bevel(31.79), rounded shoulder with bevel(34.65), bevel(35.02) and shoulder(35.08). However there is no significant statistical difference. 2. The fitness at the internal margin of bevel(25.75), rounded shoulder(31.24), shoulder with bevel(32.07) and rounded shoulder with bevel(34.45) was better than that of shoulder(47.98). 3. The fitness at the axial surface of bevel(26.58) was better than that of shoulder(49.59). 4. The fitness at the central fossa was good in the following order: shoulder with bevel(38.88), grooved bevel(40.46) rounded shoulder with shoulder(46.29), shoulder(48.91), bevel(49.47) and rounded bevel(52.07). However there is no significant statistical difference. 5. Overall fitness of bevel(29.71), rounded shoulder(32.49) and shoulder with bevel(34.47) was better than that of shoulder(44.73).
IPS-Empress 도재관의 변연형태에 따른 파절강도에 관한 연구

The purpose of this study was to compare the fracture strength of the IPS-Empress ceramic crown according to margin types such as bevel, shoulder, rounded shoulder, shoulder with bevel, rounded shoulder with bevel and bevel with groove. After 10 metal dies were constructed for each group, the IPS-Empress ceramic crown were fabricated and each crown was cemented on each metal die with Bistite resin cement. The cemented crowns mounted in the testing jig were inclined 30 degree and universal testing machine(Zwick 1456 41, Zwick Co., Germany) was used to measure the fracture strength. The obtained results were as follows : 1. The fracture strength of the crown with rounded shoulder was the highest of all. The mean fracture strength was 484N in rounded shoulder, 357N in bevel, 341N in rounded shoulder with bevl, 300N in shoulder with bevel, 280N in shoulder and 275N in bevel with groove. 2. The fracture strength of rounded shoulder was statistically different from those of shoulder with bevel, shoulder and bevel with groove. 3. In the strain at fracture, there was no significant difference among each group. 4. The fracture mode of the crown was similar and most of fracture line began at the loading area and extended through proximal surface perpendicularly to the margin, irrespective of margin type.

MMPI Clinical Scale와 미소평점과의 상관성에 관한 연구

This study was designed to investigate the correlation between MMPI (The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory) clinical scale scores and smile scores. The MMPI test was administered to 60 university students(male: 30, female: 30) who have no teeth missing, no experience of orthodontic or prosthodontic treatment and good dentition. Then, portraits were taken in a full smile. Esthetic smile scores were estimated by 10 appraisers who were dentists. These scores were analyzed statistically using the SAS program. The following results were obtained. 1. As MMPI clinical scales of Femininity is increased and Social Introversion is decreased, results showed high aesthetic level of smile. 2. For females, personality factors had greater influence on smile aesthetics, whereas male smile aesthetics were less influenced by personality factors.
