Simultaneous observations of SiO and $H_2O$ masers toward OH/IR stars

We performed simultaneous observations of SiO v=1, 2, $^{29}SiO$ v=0, J=1-0 and $H_2O$ $6_{16}-5_{23}$ maser lines toward 252 OH/IR stars using the Korean VLBI Network 21m telescopes. The observations were carried out from 2011 November to 2012 July for studying SiO and $H_2O$ maser properties associated with the evolutionary stages of OH/IR stars. Both $H_2O$ and SiO masers were detected from 49 sources, one-side maser of SiO and $H_2O$ was detected from 109 and 11 sources, respectively. Mutual relations between SiO and $H_2O$ maser properties are investigated based on statistical analyses. We also investigate these maser properties in the IRAS two-color diagram related with stellar evolutionary sequence.
PC카메라환경에서 실시간 얼굴검출을 위한 Support Vector Machine

In this paper we present a method for the efficient face detection based on the support vector machine from a PC camera. The images from a PC camera are more variable in brightness and image quality than ones from other stable devices such as photo images. Therefore, the method based on the neural network method, which is mainly applied to the face detection, is not effective to PC camera environments because of its high error ratio. Vapnik presented the support vector machine in 1995 which is a classifier derived from the statistical learning theory. It is known as an effective alternative to the neural networks. In this paper we present a method for effectively applying the support vector machine to the face detection. The data used by the support vector machine are the motion information of the image sequences and statistic values of image intensity. The statistic values are used to reduce the candidates of the face regions, and the motion information is used to restrict the scan window for the face detection. The experimental result shows that it has high performance than the method based on the neural networks.
조명 변화에 강인한 얼굴 검출을 위한 좌우대칭 평균화 기법

형판 정합 기반의 얼굴 검출 시스템에서 획득된 이미지에 대한 명암 정규화 및 영상 보정을 위해 히스토그램 평활화나 로그 변환 등을 사용한다. 이 방법은 조명 변화에 의해 발생한 이미지의 부분 명암 왜곡에는 효과적이지 못하다는 것이 알려져 있다. 본 논문에서는 부분적 명암 왜곡에 매우 효과적인 영상 보정을 수행하는 좌우대칭 평균화 기법을 제시한다. 실험 결과 이 기법은 기존의 방식보다 매우 효율적인 검출 성능을 보일 뿐만 아니라 얼굴 후보의 개수도 현저하게 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. In a face detection system based on template matching, histogram equalization or log transform is applied to an input image for the intensity normalization and the image improvement. It is known that they are noneffective in improving an image with intensity distortion by illumination variation. In this paper, we propose an efficient image improvement method called as a bilateral symmetry average for images with intensity distortion by illumination variation. Experimental results show that our method delivers the detection performance better than previous methods and also remarkably reduces the number of face candidates.

본 연구에서는 샌드위치형 압전 트랜스듀서의 등가 회로 모델을 규명하는 방법을 제시하였다. 공기중에서 실험적으로 측정한 트랜스듀서의 전기적 어드미턴스와 이론적으로 계산된 어드미턴스의 오차가 최소가 되도록 하는 비선형 최적화 문제를 풀어 등가 회로에 관련된 미지 상수를 규명하였다. 예제 트랜스듀서에 대해 제안된 방법을 적용하여 등가회로를 모델링하고, 수중에서의 송신 음압 감도(TVR) 및 수신 읍압 감도(RVS)을 예측하고 실험치와 비교하여 규명된 등가 회로 모델의 타당성을 검증하였다. In this paper an identification method is presented to obtain the equivalent electric model of a sandwitch type piezoelectric transducer. Unknown parameters related to the equivalent circuit are identified by solving a nonlinear optimization problem which can minimize an error between the experimental and analytical admittances in air. The proposed method is applied to an example transducer. The validity of equivalent circuit model is demonstrated by the comparison between the experimental measurements and analytical calculations of transmitting voltage response(TVR) and receiving voltage response(RVS).
방사 임피던스를 고려한 평면 배열 수중 음향 트랜스듀서의 최적 빔 설계

이 논문에서는 최적의 빔패턴을 얻기 위한 비선형 최적 설계 기법을 제시하였다. 제시된 방법을 사용하여 진동체 사이의 자기 및 상호 방사 임피던스를 고려하여 최대 허용 부엽준위가 주어진 경우 빔폭이 최소화된 빔 패턴을 설계할 수 있다. 그리고 37개의 진동체가 X, Y 및 $45^{circ}$축에 대칭으로 배열된 평면 배열에 대해 제안된 기법을 적용한 결과 빔폭은 변화없이 상당히 낮은 부엽 준위를 얻었다. In this paper, a nonlinear optimal design technique is presented to find an optimal beam pattern. With this technique, the beam width is minimized with respect to a given maximum allowable side-lobe level considering the self- and mutual radiation impedances of vibrators. The proposed method is applied to design a planar array consisting 37 vibrators which are symmetric in X, Y and $45^{circ}$ axes. The results show that significantly low side-lobe level maintaining a main beam width can be obtained using this method.

In this paper, a design method of matching layers is presented for the sandwich type broad band underwater acoustic vibrators. The characteristic impedances of matching layers are determined to be matched to the characteristic impedance of head mass material. For the dynamic characteristic analysis of the sandwich type transducers, one dimensional FEM technique is also introduced. A test vibrator with the quarter wave matching layers has been designed to verify the proposed method. And the wide band characteristics of the input impedance and transmitting voltage response (TVR) are investigated.
