Even in a fully automated factory, many deburring operations are carried out manually. To remove or minimize the burr effectively or automatically, It is necessary to understand the mechanism of the burr formation which occur at the exit stage of machining. Burrs can be formad on the feed mark ridges and the edges of the machined parts in machining operations. These burrs are undesirable in terms of the surface quality, the precise dimensioning of the machined parts and the safety of operators. In the present study, it was demonstrated that the end mill could be effectively used to minimize the exit burr formation. In particular, the relationships between the exit burr size and the cutting parameters were established experimentally in end mill operation and the methods to control the exit burr size were investigated.

Recently, the use of high-tech ceramic parts in functional electronic parts, automobile parts and semiconductor equipment parts is increasing. These ceramics materials are required to have high reproducibility, reliability, large size and complex shapes. The researchers initiated the work to develop a new shaping method called gel casting, which allows high performance ceramic materials with a complex shape to be produced. The manufacturing process parameters of gel casting include uniform mixing of the initiator, bubble removal, and slip injection. In this study, we analyzed the dispersion and gelation characteristics according to the change in the additive content of the alumina slurry in the gel casting process. The alumina slurry for gel casting was prepared by mixing a solvent, a monomer and a dispersant through a ball mill. Alumina powder and a gelation initiator were added to the mixed solution, and ball milling was performed for 24 hours. A viscosity of 6,435 cps and a stable zeta potential value were obtained under the conditions of alumina powder content of 55 vol% and dispersant 2.0 wt%. After curing for 12 hours by adding aps 0.1wt%, TEMED 0.2wt%, and Monomer 3, 5wt%, it was possible to separate from the molding cup, confirming that the gelation was completed.
Sodium Iodide Symporter (NIS) in the Management of Patients with Thyroid Carcinoma

Although radioiodine has been applied in thyroid diseases including carcinoma for over 70 years, it was only in 1996 that thebasic molecular mechanism of iodine uptake was identified. Iodide is actively transported into the thyroid via a membraneglycoprotein known as sodium iodide symporter (NIS). NIS mediates radioiodine uptake into thyroid normal and cancer cells. The knowledge on NIS expression has provided scientific background to the empirical management of thyroid carcinoma. Basedon recent studies of the NIS gene, this paper provides current clinical applications and future studies.

. High speed and heavy cutting performed for improving the surface quality and productivity, are often prevented due to chatter phenomena. Chatter is a violent relative vibration between workpiece and tool in machining of metals, and is an important limiting factor of production rate and surface quality, and reduces the tool life and the dynamic performance of machine tool itself. In this study, in order to suppress the chatter, a modified tool-post combined with the spring and damper was designed and used in the actual cutting test. The results of this study are summerized as follows; The spring and damper adopted in the modified tool-post have the suppressing effects of chatter, and there exists an optimum combination between spring constant and damping ratio.
