최근 기능성 코팅소재의 예로 자기치유 고분자에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행 중에 있다. 자기치유 고분자는 메커니즘에 따라서 크게 내인성과 외인성으로 구분되며, 각각의 장단점과 그에 적합한 응용 분야를 가지고 있다. 내인성 소재의 장점으로는 반복적인 자기치유, 클리어코트로서의 응용성 등이 있으나 고분자가 가진 고유의 열흐름 특성과 자기치유 메커니즘의 한계로 인해 통상 유리전이온도 보다 낮은 온도에서는 자기치유가 불가능하거나 매우 오랜 시간이 소요된다. 본 논문발표에서 하한임계용액온도(LCST) 특성을 가지는 단량체를 이용하여 합성된 가교 고분자의 코팅소재로서의 물성과 스크래치 등 구조적 손상에 대해 열뿐만이 아니라 수분에 의해서도 저온에서 단 시간 내에 자기치유가 가능한 방법에 관해 다루고자 한다.

Multi-walled carbon nanotubes functionalized with a photochromic spironaphthoxazines (MWCNTs- SPO) were synthesized by the reaction between the hydroxyl group of SPO and the carbonyl chloride groups on the surface of MWCNTs. The functional spirooxazine photochromic groups on the surface of MWCNTs were identified by the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. As a novel derivative of MWCNTs, photoresponsive conductance switching of the MWCNTs-SPO was demonstrated under a 365 nm UV light irradiation. A simple photoinduced resistance measurement following the cyclic irradiation of UV light shows a very reversible response. The effect of the electron injection in the SPO is rationalized in terms of the HOMO–LUMO energy levels of both spiro and merocyanine forms.
Polyurethane from renewable resources

Polyurethanes have a long history of 70 years and they have been widely used in our daily life as foams, elastomers, synthetic leathers, waterproof coatings, paints, and adhesives, and so on. Recently, great attentions have been paid to renewable resources of the raw materials for polyurethane synthesis, which are not from petroleum or coal. In this talk, polyols and diisocyanates derived from the chemical modifications of natural fats, oils and carbohydrates are focused and discussed.
Polymeric nanoparticles, micelles and polymersomes from amphiphilic block copolymer

Block copolymers are made up of blocks of different polymerized monomers. Among the block copolymers,amphiphilic block copolymers can self-assemble to form nano-sized vehicles, such as micelles, nanoparticles,polymersomes, in aqueous or non-aqueous media. This review describes the synthesis, formation, and major applications of amphiphilic block copolymer and corresponding vehicles in order to provide an overview of the current features of functionalized block copolymers for drug delivery applications.
Droplet microfluidics for particle preparation

Recently microparticles or microcapsules with well-defined morphologyhave attracted great attention due to their great potential in applications, e.g., self-assembly, drug delivery systems, electrical inks, rheologicalstudies, paints and coating. Therefore, several preparation techniques have been developed; however, microfluidics provide a facile and scalablestrategy for the preparation of the uniform vehicles. Herein, we present a simple butefficient method regarding the droplet particle preparations, particularly for Janus particles and microcapsules.
