<글 없는 그림책>을 활용한 시각적 문해력 신장 방안 연구

This study aims to find the ways to improve visual literacy. In the earlier days when most communication was done mainly through texts and language, literacy was understood as the ability to read and write texts. While the traditional means of communication was verbal and written language in the past, the text language alone cannot be sole communication means these days as communication means are becoming complicated and diverse. To grow the ability of social communication and cultural participation and to cope with the changed language environment where communication platforms are expanded thanks to development of various image media and visual images, it is necessary to teach visual literacy. In the "2007 revised curriculum" of the Korean language, the "media"-related contents became larger-sized and the focus is placed on understanding and production of the media language. Also in terms of Korean language education, it is necessary to teach visual literacy. We therefore wanted to find the ways to improve visual literacy by using "wordless picture books" as textbooks. In Chapter II, we first looked at the theoretical background and values of wordless picture books that can be used as textbooks for visual literacy, summarized concepts related to visual literacy, and showed the necessity of teaching visual literacy by looking at how visual literacy, as described in "the 2007 revised curriculum," is accepted. Wordless picture books include literal elements such as characters, the plot and the theme of stories, as well as visual elements, and therefore, are appropriate tools for teaching visual literacy. Visual images, similar to the text language, are a meaning system in daily lives. We found that, by integrating the text language with the visual language, the general linguistic ability can be improved. We also found that media education in the Korean language class is accepted increasingly in order to improve the ability of receivers of critical media. In Chapter III, we believed that the visual language, like the ordinary language, belonged to the signal system and studied a teaching method, based on the Saussure's point of view and the semiotics of R. Barthes. Barthes started from the general concept of signals which are based on the signifiant and the signifi, found denotation and connotation of signals and attempted to interpret texts by analyzing the myth that is a meaning system that has various meanings. In Barthes' mythology and text analysis method, we can find some suggestions on how to read pictures. The semiotic approach of Barthes does not see pictures in the picture books simply from the visual and perceptive viewpoint but explores the deep meaning of pictures. However, Barthes' semiotics and theories on texts failed to show in detail what should be defined as signals, as well as how signals can be extracted, structured and made into texts. Therefore, we looked at the analysis method using the Toussaint's semantic network in order to find the ways to interpret visual images based on the semiotics and to overcome the limitation of Barthes' semiotic text analysis method. Toussaint regarded the major elements of the superstructure of a conversation as the meaningful units and tried to interpret them by making the semantic network based on the inter-relatedness of meaningful unit. The major elements of the superstructure, that Toussaint mentioned, refer to all devices (picturesque molding elements) of the original picturesque signifiant. He regarded the signifiant as meaningful units, made the semantic network based on the direction of eyes and the direction of characters' move and interpreted the signifiant. The process of semiotic interpretation using Toussaint's semantic network enabled to find the clue to understand how picturesque molding elements work as vocabularies and grammars of pictures in the picture books, and eventually interpret paintings. We conducted a study to access the effectiveness of glove and washing hands for the prevention of microbial contamination during the dental clinical practice. Microbial numbers at unwashed hands and gloves were 9.938×103 (CFU)/ml, those at washed with soap were 9.44×103 CFU/ml And those at washed with a typical liquid soap including disinfectant, Dettol (Reckitt Benckiser, Slough, SL1 3UH, UK) were 6.58×102 CFU/ml. In case of unwashed hand and hand washing with soap had similar microbial numbers and in case of hand washing with Dettol showed a rapid decrease of microbial number. Hand washing with Dettol was effective to prevent microbial contamination than hand washing with soap. Also microbial numbers in all case wearing gloves decreased. It showed effectiveness of gloves for prevention of microbial contamination. In addition to microbial numbers showed a tendency to increase from 3 hours on wearing gloves, the change of new gloves after 3 hours on wearing is necessary to minimize the danger of microbial contamination.
Transcription and Export of RNase MRP RNA in Xenopus Iaevis Oocyetes

RNase MRP is a ribonucleoprotein complex with a site-specific endonuclease activity. Its original substrate for cleavage is the small mitochondrial RNA near the mitochondrial DNA replication origin, thus it was proposed to generate the primer for mtDNA replication. Recently, it has been shown to have another substrate in the nucleus, such as pre-S.8S ribosomal RNA in nucleolus. The gene for the RNA component of RNase MRP (MRP RNA) was found to be encoded by the nucleus genome, suggesting an interesting intracellular trafficking of MRP RNA to both mitochondria and nucleolus after transcription in nucleus. In this study, genomic DNA encoding MRP RNA was microinjected into the nucleus of Xenopus oocytes, to analyze promoter regions involved in the transcription. It showed that the proximal sequence element and TATA box are important for basal level transcription; octamer motif and Sp1 binding sites are for elevated level transcription. Most of Xenopus MRP RNA was exported out to the cytoplasm following transcription in the nucleus. Utilizing various hybrid constructs, export of MRP RNA was found to be regulated by the promoter and the 5' half of the coding region of the gene. Interestingly, the transcription in nucleus seems to be coupled to the export of MRP RNA to cytoplasm. Intracellular transport of injected MRP RNA can be easily visualized by whole-mount in situ hybridization following microinjection; it also shows possible intra-nuclear sites for transcription and export of MRP RNA.
카바졸 치환체를 가지는 신디오탁틱 폴리스티렌의 분자내/분자간 엑시머 발광

(2-N-carbazoylmethyl)styrene을 티타노센 촉매와 라디칼 개시제를 사용하여 신디오탁틱 및 아탁틱 poly(2-N-carbazoylmethyl)styrene을 합성하고 발광특성 중 엑시머 형성에 대하여 조사하였다. 어탁틱 고분자는 하나의 발광만을 나타낸 반면에 신디오탁틱 고분자는 카바졸기가 부분적으로 오버랩되는 정렬에서 기인하는 단량체 발광과 엑시머 발광을 모두 나타내었다. 아탁틱 고분자의 발광은 용액농도와 온도 의존성이 나타나지 않았으나, 신디오탁틱 고분자는 의존성의 크게 관찰되었다. 이러한 결과로 엑시머 발광은 치환기인 카바졸의 위치에 의존하는 것을 확인하였다. The syndiotactic and atactic poly(2-N-carbazoylmethyl)styrenes were obtained by a half-titanocene catalyst and a radical initiator for the investigation of photophysical properties, especially excimer formation. The atactic polymer exhibited only monomer emission, but the syndiotactic polymer showed both excimer emission and monomer emission resulting from the partial overlapping arrangement of carbazole pendants. The emission band of syndiotactic polymer was considerably dependent on solution concentration and temperature, however atactic polymer was independent because the excimer formation of syndiotactic helical conformation was more favorable than that of the random coil conformation of atactic polymer.
