Structural analysis of spinner for glass wool fabrication by axial angle variation of outlet

In the glass wool fabrication process, stress concentration occurs in the vicinity of the spinner outlet. In this study, the stress concentration in the vicinity of the spinner outlet was analyzed with the stress distribution through finite element method. Stress analysis of the existing spinner model (0°) and spinner models with inclined axial angles of outlets were performed. The axial angle of the outlet was inclined in the opposite direction of rotation of the spinner to release stress concentration. The results of four cases (2.5°, 5°, 7.5°, and 10°) with the axial angle of outlet were compared with the existing spinner model. As a result of the analysis, it was found that when the axial angle of outlet is inclined, the stress concentration is more alleviated than that of the existing spinner. In particular, the stress of a case with the axial angle of 5° was evaluated as the lowest.
