Today, as various social problems are highlighted due to the inappropriate emotional expression, there is an imminent need to prepare diverse measures for the emotional control. This study reviewed the possibility regarding whether the Buddha-nature thought is available as the means for emotional control based on the understanding about the meaning and methodology of emotional control suggested by the psychology. First of all, after investigating the definition that explains an emotion, it tried to suggest the characteristic and list of emotions that fall into each category with the introduction of two categories of the positive and negative emotions. Additionally, it examined the necessity of emotional control and the content about an important process recognition. Above all, it is remarkable that the Buddha-nature thought performs the function of emotional control through the cognitive methodology. The teaching purpose of the Buddha-nature revealed by The Buddha-nature Theory (佛性論) is the very theoretical basis demonstrating that the Buddha-nature thought is capable of functioning as the method for the effective emotional control. According to this theory, the right understanding regarding the Buddha-nature abolishes the effects of five misconducts(五種過失) and creates the effects of five merits(五種功德). This fact is not different from the goals of emotional control which psychologists know. The latter purposes to reduce the negative emotion and enhance the positive one. Therefore, in theory, the elimination of the effects of five misconducts accords with the reduction of the negative emotion, and the creation of the effects of five merits does with the increase of the positive one. Consequently, the Buddha-nature thought is largely useful as the method of emotional control owing to its capability of decreasing the negative emotion, and effectively fostering the positive one. This study is expected to serve as such a basic research as searches the methodology for the therapeutic approach.

The purpose of this study is to examine the major therapeutic mechanisms inherent in Buddhahood. This process can also be referred to as an exploration of the approach direction to increase the effectiveness of treatment when introducing the Buddha s statue into the treatment area. Until now, the main cause of the treatment of immortality has been understood to be to increase the affirmation of the individual. Efforts have been made to reveal that the clear perception of individual negativity is also an important therapeutic factor in immortality.

There have been many attempts to make use of Mindfulness Meditation as a healing therapy among the practitioners. Psychologists, especially, have adopted and utilized it for the purpose of expanding their own horizons on the expertise of healing, which is quite inspiring from the fact that a new insight and research on buddhist meditation have been evolving. At the same time, however, it attracts some concerns. There are some doubts about the process on how various meanings of Mindfulness Meditation are conceptualized and what elements are selected and applied to the on-site practices. In addition, some researchers tend to make use of only certain elements of Mindful Meditation they regard to be appropriate for their practices. This tendency may result in curative practices irrelevant to its original purpose and context. This study looks the elements of meditation that practitioners today understand to be essential in their definition of Mindful Meditation. Most answers were an attempt at tacit expressions defining the purpose as self-control, psychological treatment, and self-enhancement, overlooking the essential purpose of Mindful Meditation. A review on the range of its application shows that the widely used meditation methods are not distinguished from that of psychotherapy. Against that background, the need for utilizing Mindful Meditation a means of more radical treatment and its feasibility are discussed in this paper. Lastly, this paper surveys curative mechanisms of Mindfulness Meditation that are widely in use. These mechanisms are directly related to treatment effectiveness. While the currently used mechanisms are valuable as effective therapy, I propose ‘Understanding Selfless Ego` as another mechanism in part of a more fundamental treatment measure by discussing its effectiveness and suggesting its application methods
