Background: Bone mineral density (BMD) is influenced by many factors. Despite the reported association between body components and BMD, most of these studies investigated the relationship between absolute muscle mass or fat mass and BMD in postmenopausal women or elderly subjects. The aim of this study is to investigate the association between muscle mass deficits (MMD) estimated from bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) and lumbar spinal BMD in Korean adults 20 to 49 years of age. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 1,765 men and women who visited a health promotion center for a routine checkup. The lumbar spinal BMD was measured by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry. Body composition analysis was performed using BIA. Results: The mean age of the subjects was 40.2±6.3 years. Ten thousand subjects (56.7%) were males and 126 subjects (7.1%) belonged to the low BMD (Z-score ≤-2.0). MMD had the strongest influence on BMD after adjusting for all covariates. The adjusted odds ratio of Group 3 (MDD >2.6 kg) for low BMD was 2.74 (95% CI, 1.46-5.15) after adjusting for age, gender, body mass index, height, and smoking. Conclusions: MMD estimated by BIA showed a significant association with BMD and could be regarded as an independent risk factor for low BMD in adults 20 to 49 years of age. These findings support that interventions such as physical activity or lifestyle changes may simultaneously modify both muscle and bone health in this age group.
위식도역류질환의 한약 치료에 대한 최신 임상 연구 동향 - 半夏를 중심으로 -

Objective: The purpose of this study was to review Chinese clinical studies of the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) with herbal medicine including Pinellia ternata. Methods: We searched the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) database for clinical studies on herbal treatments including Pinellia ternata for GERD, from January 1st, 2015 to September 30th, 2019. We evaluated the risk of bias using Cochrane's risk of bias to confirm the quality of the 37 selected documents. Results: The 37 papers included high-dose and middle-dose Pinellia ternata groups. The outcome measures included treatment effectiveness rate, symptom comparisons, and endoscopy effectiveness rates or scores. In both groups, most studies showed significant improvement in the treatment group compared with the control group. The meta-analysis revealed a higher treatment effectiveness rate and a lower recurrence rate in the treatment group than in the control group. Conclusions: Comparing the treatment effect between the two groups was difficult due to the low quality of most studies. However, the results suggest that herbal remedies including Pinellia ternata showed statistically significant improvement in GERD compared to control groups.

VOCs는 대기중에서 광화학반응을 통해 초미세먼지를 생성할 뿐만 아니라 배출환경 역시 다양하기 때문에 이를 저감하기 위한 배출원별 기술개발이 필요하다. 대표적인 기술로는 촉매 산화반응을 통한 VOCs 제거가 있고, Pt 및 Pd 기반의 백금족 원소(PGMs)를 활용한 촉매가 우수한 저온활성 및 내구성을 보이기 때문에 주요 촉매 성분으로 사용되고 있다. 하지만 고가의 백금계 촉매의 경우 저감시스템의 제작단가를 높이기 때문에, 귀금속 촉매를 대체할 수 있는 촉매물질에 대한 연구개발이 필요하다. 이에 열적 안정성이 우수할 뿐만 아니라 산화반응을 위한 활성산소의 제공이 용이하다고 알려져 있는 Ce-Zr 기반의 촉매에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. Ce-Zr을 지지체로 활용하고 VOC 저온 산화를 위한 활성점으로 비백금계 전이금속을 사용하였을 경우, 백금계 촉매와 동일하거나 다소 높은 저온 산화성능이 나타남을 확인할 수 있었다.

In this study, we developed a wearable robot operating on the external skeleton to support the movements of a weak person’s upper limbs, mainly 3-degree of freedom (DOF) of the shoulder, 1-degree of freedom of the elbow. Moreover, we applied a redundant degree of freedom to design an upper extremities wearable robot that accurately follows the movement of the upper limbs. Namely, we applied 4 driving parts to the robot to enable 3-degree of freedom for shoulders by optimizing the conformance between the links and body movement range. The optimal design which minimizes error where the robot and the body is adjusted, improves wear sensation and signal input. We attached a multi-axes load-cell to generate motion intent signals detecting the movements of the body. According to the EMG signal measurements when moving the upper limbs with the robot on, the RMS value decreased compared to that without the robot. This is due to the decrease in muscle activity, which results from using smaller muscular strength. That is to say, when comparing the same movements, the person wearing the robot used less muscular strength with the help of the robot. Also through SEF50 analysis of the EMG signals, we were able to verify that the muscle fatigue lessened.

he purpose of this study is to measure bio-signal to investigate the driver's physiological response change under real situation using train simulator. The train simulator used in this study is KTX model and according to changes of driving situation, The bio-signal controlled by autonomic nervous system, such as GSR(Galvanic Skin Response), SpO2(Saturation percent O2), HR(Heart Rate), ECG(Electrocardiograph), EEG(Electroencephagram) and movement and response of eye were measured. Statistically significant difference in bio-signal data and eye movement activity pattern were investigated under several different driving speeds using analysis of variance (p<0.05). The GSR and HR value measured in average and mission speed operation is higher than in high-speed operation. β wave of EEG in average speed operation become more activated than in high speed operation. In accordance with a characteristic of rail vehicle, movement and response of eye in high-speed operation requiring relatively simple maneuver become less activated than in either average or mission speed operations. Conclusively, due to more careful driving controls in average and mission speed operation are required than in high-speed operation, level of mental and physical stresses of train driver was increased and observed through changes of bio-signal and eye movement measured in this study.
