광선의 포락선인 초면(caustic)에 관한 연구는 17세기 호이겐스 등의 기하적 광학 연구에서 시작되었다. 17세기에 광학에서 가장 중요한 문제의 하나가 태양 광선을 초점에 모으는 것이었고, 이는 당시의 여러 실용적인 광학기구 제작을 위하여 해결해야 하는 문제였다. 이 시기 초면에 대한 연구로부터 시작하여 19세기까지 포락선에 대한 개념이 일반화되고 다양한 분야로 확장되었다. 본 논문에서는 포락선 곡선 연구에 관련된 수학적 역사를 살펴보고 포락선을 정의하는 몇 가지 방법을 비교하여 그에 따라 포락선을 구하는 예을 제시한다. Research on the caustic, the envelope of light rays, began with the geometric optics studies of Huygens and others in the 17th century. One of the most important problems in optics in the 17th century was focusing the sun's rays. This was a problem that had to be solved in order to manufacture various practical optical instruments at the time. Beginning with research on the caustic during this period, the concept of envelope became generalized and expanded to various fields until the 19th century. This paper examines the mathematical history involved in the study of envelope curves. We compare several methods of defining the envelope and provide an example of calculating the envelope accordingly.

강제원통케이슨의 역학적 특성을 규명하기 위하여 수평하중에 의한 실내모형실험을 수행하였다. 전체적인 경향으로서 셀강판에 국부적인 소성변형이 발생하는 하중 레벨에서 변위와 저면토압은 급격히 증가함을 알 수 있었다. 변위는 재하점위치에서 가장 크고 케이슨 상단부의 변위는 작은 값을 나타내었다. 저면토압은 재하면에 가까울수록 크며 하중 증가에 따른 토압증가율 또한 재하면에 가까울수록 커짐을 알 수 있었다. Model tests were performed to examine the mechanical behavior of steel circular caisson by horizontal load. It was generally found that displacements and bottom pressure of the caisson model were increased rapidly at the local plastic load. The maximum displacement was measured at the loading point, whereas the less displacement was measured at the upper part of the caisson model. The bottom pressure was getting higher, as it was nearer the loading side. Furthermore, the increase ratio of the bottom pressure was higher as the load was increased.

Lateral loading model tests were performed on the rigid box-shaped cellular bulkhead by displacement-controlled method. The materials of ground and fill used in this study are two aluminium rods with different sections. The behalf·iotas of ground and fill were recorded by photo/video techniques and failure mechanism created in ground and fill has been simulated two-야mensionally. Also the theoretical consideration about the test results was done on the basis of Hansen's earth pressure theory. As a result, the shape of sliding face the location of sliding face and the loading height was also investigated.

This study examined cut slope reinforcement cases in the Pusan-Kyoungnam district, which includes 3 Pusan, 2 East Kyoungnam, 6 Middle Kyoungnam and 3 West Kyoungnam cases. It also analyzed the causes of the collapse and hazards, and the reinforcement method that had been used. The conclusions of the study are presented in the following. (1) The major causes of collapse and hazards in the cut slope are in the following. (ⅰ) The rise of ground water due to a local downpour and the ground seepage of water. (ⅱ) Existence of a soft ground layer. (ⅲ) A decision of slope inclination by an empirical method. (2) It turned out that the main reinforcement methods used for each cut slope were the remethod of gentle slope inclination and the retaining wall method. The auxiliary methods were drainage method for the prevention of water seepage and protection method of surface for the prevention of surface erosion. These methods were applied to almost all the slopes.

In this paper, the effect of loading height and penetration ratio were qualitatively investigated on the deformation behavior of Cellular Bulkhead. Horizontal loading model tests of steel cellular bulkhead which have three-type loading height and penetration ratio were performed by means of stress-controlled technique. The results of these tests are as follows : 1. For the identical penetration ratio, the lower loading height was observed as the higher yielding load, as the lower yielding moment, and as the lower displacement at the same load. 2. For the identical loading height, the higher penetration ratio was observed as the higher yielding toad, and as the lower displacement at the same load.

This study analyzed the reductive effect of lateral flow by the section and height of reinforcement of EPS. The conclusions of the study are as follws. (1) The lateral flow increased as the section of reinforcement decreased. The reinforcement section that satisfied the allowable range of the lateral flow turned out to be approximately 80% of the standard reinforcement section. (2) As reinforcement height was decreasing, the lateral flow increased. The reinforcement height that satisfied the allowable range of the lateral flow turned out to be approximately 50% of the total lateral height of abutment.
