Purpose: This study develops heuristic process capability indices (PCIs) using distribution-decomposition methods and evaluates the performances. The heuristic methods decompose the variation of a quality characteristic into upper and lower deviations and adjust the value of the PCIs using decomposed deviations in accordance with the skewness. The weighted variance(WV), new WV(NWV), scaled WV(SWV), and weighted standard deviation(WSD) methods are considered. Methods: The performances of the heuristic PCIs are investigated under the varied situations such as various skewed distributions, sample sizes, and specifications. Results: WV PCI is the best under the normal populations, WSD and SWV PCIs are the best under the low skewed populations, NWV PCI is the best under the moderate and high skewed populations. Conclusion: Comprehensive analysis shows that the NWV method is most adequate for a practical use.

This paper investigates the quality determinants in the consulting service for small and medium sized company. The results of the analysis show that the quality dimension is composed of two factors, consulting skills and interaction, and consulting skills are composed of understanding, expertise, and reliability. Also, this paper examines how the quality factors affect customer satisfaction and loyalty using a structural equation model. The result shows that all consulting skills affect customer satisfaction and customer satisfaction affects customer loyalty. The consulting results have an effect on customer satisfaction but have no direct influence on customer loyalty.
Design of a Curtailed-SPRT Control Chart

This paper proposes a curtailed-sequential probability ratio test (SPRT) control chart. For using the conventional SPRT control chart, the number of items inspected in a sampling point should have no restriction since items in a sampling point are inspected one by one until an SPRT is terminated. The number of observations taken in a sampling point, however, has an upper bound since sampling and testing of an item is time-consuming or expensive. When the sample size reaches the upper bound without evidence of an in-control or out-of-control state of a process, the proposed chart makes a decision using the sample mean of all observations taken in a sampling point. The properties of the proposed chart are obtained by a Markov chain approach and the performance of the chart is compared with fixed sample size (FSS) and variable sample size (VSS) control charts. A comparative study shows that the proposed chart performs better than VSS control charts as well as conventional FSS control charts.

In order to create more jobs and cope with big change of economic paradigm, a self employed creative company is suggested as an alternative mean. The understanding of relationship between performance and characteristics of self employed creative company will be helpful in establishing and efficiently operating a relevant government policy. Therefore, this study identifies empirically relationship between financial performance and characteristics of self-employed creative company. Through exploratory factor analysis and regression analysis, creativity and network is essential in increasing the financial performance of self-employed creative company.
